  2. Audition with a band for the first time in several decades tonight 8pm so fingers crossed.🤞
  3. Can anyone provide some tips on how to set the input gain? Also which amps are people using out of curiosity? I can’t seem to decide between the Concert amp and Studio for a clean tone.
  4. This is exactly where i am at the moment. Trying to decide between B2 Four, B6 & GT-1B after years of a B3. Good to hear you’re happy with yours and the choice you made! I would only be using it mainly for preamps/amp sims and was leaning towards the B6 because of being able to have more control of the IRs and cab sims. But, as I only use a few effects the B6 may be overkill. Also leaning towards staying with zoom as I’m familiar rather than the Boss I think I’m leaving it in the hands of the gods and see what comes available at the right price first!
  5. Leaning on a Lamppost - George Formby
  6. Did a trade with John. absolute agent and great communication throughout.
  7. Lousin’ time. Leonard Cohen
  8. Which part of FOH? The mixing desk? It's a tool I think they are awesome and I wouldn't expect anyone to take Neve to a bar gig As for the studios - yes, we did used a computer to record the sound coming out of our amps but I don't think I can say that this or any respectable studio I know converted to digital:
  9. I did physics at school - but preferred chemistry - as you could lean to blow stuff up 😁 I discovered ping pong balls dissolved in nitric acid can be used to make make 'gun cotton' - it's amazing how long it took for my eyebrows to grow back even with all the hormones of a fifteen year old at the time.

A lil box arrived yesterday afternoon, I’m looking forward to sticking the business end of my nifty-fifty up in the shiny-shiny’s goggle box. It’s going to be interesting to see how it compares sat next to the QC.
  11. Long story short, no I can’t find it. I kept it safe for years and haven’t thrown it away but I’ve moved twice since and put things in storage and I can’t find it anywhere. That safe place I put it in is a bit too safe apparently. Sorry
  12. Many thanks to Pete Carlton for the images
  13. Don't forget, the M8 screws need washers in their pockets to spread the load. The force will be equal to the load on the inside so spreading it over a greater area than those two washers is redundant.
  14. Today
  15. If you like Bitty McLean and Sly and Robbie, which I think is a great combination, I’d recommend giving the album Forward a listen, really enjoyed it
  16. I finally found some unicorn pickups. A few years back I had a PJ Mustang bass I installed a set of Dimarzio Area PJ pickups into. I didn't want the firepower of Model P and J pickups, but wanted a noiseless J, and along came the Dimarzio Area set courtesy of EBay. I eventually sold the bass, but could never find another Area P pickup, aka a DP250. Dimarzio never published a web page for them or really acknowledge their existence. I assume their Sixties P pickup is the successor. Finally a set appeared from a UK seller on EBay, so I snapped them up! They are built like Model Ps, set into their cases with epoxy and with two wires per pickup half plus a chassis ground wire per half. Six wires to tuck away into the control cavity! These also have Alnico II magnets, which is apparently unusual. From memory they were fairly mild output and sounded like nice, detailed P pickups. Nothing unusual or astonishing but a nice take on a vintage pickup. Maybe I remember them more favourably as I thought they were extinct... The kicker is that I paid £140 for them and they came with a pickguard with a pre-loaded wiring harness. I didn't need the pickguard! I think the pickguard is also a Dimarzio offering. There is a terminal block for the pickups glued onto the pickguard. I can't transfer the harness due to the glue, but i don't want a stark white pickguard on either of my P Basses. I think Dimarzio offered these pre-populated pickguards for a while, but assumed you would want a white pickguard pre-drilled for a '60s style tugbar and pickup cover. I've seen 'The Bass Whisper' reviewing a similar pickguard and Model P set on YouTube.

  20. Dave, 2 months ago we played The Anodyne in Milwaukee. Big " green room" with a private bathroom. We had and opening act and we were to be on stage at 8:00. Some day I'll have to share the story of why I was walking around in that bathroom completely naked at 7:50. Daryl

  24. Hi Up for sale is an Empress Bass compressor in a nice sparkly blue. It's in pretty good condition (See Pics) and comes in the original box. It currently has Velcro on the bottom (which I can remove), and the box contains the four little rubber feet. Postage is included within the £150 Sorry EU pals, I will only post within the UK. If you have any questions, just shoot me a message. Link to Empress Here's the science bit On top of the full range of features and controls normally only seen in high end studio equipment, such as input and gain reduction metering, independent attack and release controls, a mix knob for parallel compression, and an external sidechain insert, we’ve now added a fully variable sidechain high pass filter, and a two position ‘tone + colour’ circuit which adds gentle tone sculpting and harmonic distortion, giving your bass some delicious character.
  25. We need 8 mm footage from the Kluson factory to surface!
  26. Hey I knew what you meant, there is a difference.
