  1. Past hour
  2. I still remember being buzzed by one of those at dusk, while camping on a Dof E expedition in the Lake District. they did make quite a noise (not the band obvs!).
  3. That would be fantastic, thank you. Shall I pm you an email? I can learn a lot about signal paths with just a 4 but think that I'll inevitably end up buying an off the shelf, preferably 2nd hand 12 to fill the gap before a custom build is ready.
  4. Ball point pen compression springs
  5. How about The Aguilar OBP-1 is pretty small, and has mini pots, I wonder if that’ll work for you at a squeeze? Then again, it has a million wires to make room for. But if you didn’t mind routing under the pickguard for a battery then it might work? That’s what I did with my Ray, I have 2 x 9v batteries under the pickguard. Yep - fretless is great fun thanks, with an equal measure of it laughing at me when my intonation sucks 😂 Hoping this one is a keeper, stunning bass 👌 Good luck with yours 👍
  6. @Quasar79 wants the moon on a stick 😊 @gregorbass please can you show pictures of the neck heel and neck pocket, plus the rear side of the volume and time controls ? it is normal to do this when you say that this is a vintage instrument. It costs a lot of money and potential buyers want to be sure that it is really vintage **. That is why they ask so many questions, and to achieve a distance sale of a very expensive item you do need to be patient and understanding. UK sellers of vintage instruments do this same thing. asking myself why I’ve become his agent…
  7. @Sean I've done plenty of parallel amp path patches on the stomp. Some for 4, some for 8 and some for 12 string. Some are stereo for Alembics and my Grainger Hades though they do still work in mono as well. Happy to share if you wish.
  8. Hi folks, I have a bass body with rear access to the control cavity and what can only be described as a number of experimental holes - 7 in total - from the cavity to the front surface of the bass. I want to fill these with dowels, but each hole is a slightly different size so I want to standardise them all at 12mm to allow me to use 12mm dowels for all holes. I was going to use a 12mm drill but suspect that despite being quick and easy it might cause more harm than good, I then thought about using a round file but I imagine that's the hard way and will likely leave me with irregular/not-round holes. Thoughts re tools/techniques welcome 🙏
  9. Having a custom purple flake P being built by the, rather wonderful, Rob Flett - should be ready in the next week or so 😈
  10. Dropped to £180, without the spare strings I was originally including. This bass is in hardly used, mint condition.
  11. Over our heads - Zero 7
  12. Trike & slippers included?
  13. Location: Teesside (N.E.)
  14. Dunno. I am a broadcast engineer so of course the first thing I did was open it up to see if anything needed recapping etc and from a peek inside with my trusty LED torch I cannot see anything that has been changed/ fixed / updated or even switched on over the years there’s not dust on the mosfet fins behind the fan, nothing. it’s truly in stellar condition. The only indicator of anything is the snapped off GEQ controls on the front but that could even be because the plastic has become brittle over the last 45 odd years. I haven’t got the preamp or the power section fully on my bench yet and am a bit trepidant to do so but I may have to in the interests of science! Also I’m gonna try to find replacement faders for the graphic section as that is the ONLY thing less than optimal at the moment. Curious and courioiser…..
  15. I must admit that was my first thought, whether a pre-amp optimised for single coils will work well with - and I'm probably technically incorrect in saying this but I'm going on experience - apparently more powerful P and MM PUPs? I'm aiming to use a Jazz Bass control plate which limits my choices to a degree, and for the time being I'm going to install a VT/VT stacked passive circuit courtesy of @KiOgon, which will at least allow me to compare the O/Ps of the two PUPs and perhaps experiment with circuitry. Hope you're enjoy that FL Dan 👍
  16. Still no pictures of pickup and pot dates, neck stamp, etc. That would be nice too!
  17. Of course, had your brother in law been using a slightly bigger suitcase, he could have subsidised his trip by bringing another XB driver back from Texas for an X-Men sideburned bass player who would happily pay for his time and physiotherapy after carrying back a heavier suitcase. Ha!
  18. Just found out this morning they have approached a school in Zimbabwe. Just as needy, just as musical. Love that boy's drive to help.
  19. Wow Steve. If that's possible, I'm absolutely certain they would love to have them. That is massively generous of you. Julian
  20. 🏜️ desert island finish is accurate. Gorgeous!
  21. Reggaeland is happening today and tomorrow at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes. The headliners are Chronixx today and Capleton tomorrow. My targets today are Proteje, Iration Steppas and Mad Professor and tomorrow I am hoping to see Steel Pulse, Everton Blender, Aba Shanti-I and finally Israel Vibration & Roots Radics. One love!
  22. Hi Julian I’ve got a few pedals knocking about (Behringer) Limiter/enhancer,Chorus & a BDI if they’re of any use? Steve
  23. Looks like the site links are all redirecting to gear 4 music. They are the other good ones so that's something
