  1. Past hour
  2. Aye it is me after a small stone nano but the one with gun metal grey and red chassis. Appreciate the heads up. 👍
  3. Possibly a good thing for us lot - Out of sight, out of mind (and hopefully less out of pocket!)
  4. Hence why you hardly ever see them for sale! 🙂
  5. That's the one indeed!
  6. Since entering the world of double bass ownership, I’ve watched a lot of the content put out by the guys at Upton Bass in the good’ol US of A. Last week they posted this interesting video of a combo they are developing specifically for double bass. Interesting combination of a down firing 10” woofer with a front mounted mid-range driver, built-in HPF and an eq ‘specifically voiced for double bass’. Still in the prototype stage, but I thought I’d share here. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJZ-FN3yk-b/
  7. There's so many basses mentioned on this thread that I've literally never even heard of much less seen 😂
  8. Yamaha TRBX605FM in amber tint. Stunning at this price point. The bass is really well put together, functions with no issues at all, tuners, bridge, truss rod all beautifully operational. Is essentially a brand new bass, condition is excellent. Body is lightweight, well balanced and smooth contours on the heal. Overall it's a very well designed and put together instrument, perhaps given the Yamaha and TRB legacy more generally that's not surprising. The bass has been further upgraded by the addition of Aguilar DCBs and an East unipre (5 knobber with active/passive switch). I only purchased this week from Happypants as I was curious to try something I could tune E-C. It works brilliantly in this regard however the neck is not really what I want for this and I know ultimately it's not a keeper. I am becoming a neck snob as my years advance it seems. Pictures are current with TI Flats on but I'll restring with the original B-G rounds and undo the very minor adjustment I made on the bridge so it's restored as a more conventional 5 string. Also included is the original Yamaha pickups and preamp in case you wanted to fully restore it and reuse the East/DCBs... potential bargain right there some might say 🙂 No case but Happypants packed the bass well (thank you again matey, BC kudos!). Alternatively I am selling a Gator gig big which could be included in the deal if helpful.
  9. Absolutely. I've persevered for ages with Fender's *own* strings which we know are made to their spec by D'addario but after fitting a set of actual D's EXL165's, my Jazz bass has come alive. Bizarre.
  10. Still for sale coz I’m a rash fool with no thought to actual real life use, after “oooh I want that” 😀
  11. Guitar stand. Holds 7 electric or acoustic guitars/basses. Folds flat for storage and transportation. Costs £150 new. Too bulky to post so collection only from Chagford, Devon, TQ13 8BP. It's beautiful this time of year, so worth buying this just for the visit! Thanks!
  12. Seems to be a common thing 🤔
  13. I know I've got some very relic vintage clover leafs, so reliced that they almost no longer exist!
  14. I saw what you did there 😎
  15. Thanks. Its a beauty and has one of the best necks on a bass I have played but I never use it so time to move it on.
  16. Stir It Up - Bob Marley and The Wailers
  17. Today
  18. Rum and Coke - Little Caesar
  19. Are they wood or plastic? If the former, a quick dismantle, a couple of cans of Tuffcab and you solve the aesthetic issue for a lot less money. It looks from the discussion above as if the cabs you are looking at will be a sidegrade, rather than an upgrade. Not the best use of funds, especially if your existing tops are still performing perfectly well. I'd give them a freshen up and continue saving for something that will really be an improvement. As Phil points out, it's splitting hairs to look for differences between the likes of QSC, RCF, FBT, Yamaha, etc. They are all roughly equivalent in terms of price and will offer similar performance.
  20. EHX Micro Pog, polyphonic up/down octave pedal, boxed with original EHX PSU and all original paperwork. Excellent condition, velcro on the back, price includes UK mainland postage.
  21. Panic Shack at Band on the Wall in Manchester last night - really good performance by a fun, loud band in a great venue. What's not to like?
  22. I had a '74 Precision back in the day (stupidly sold it before getting married or something) and although I've been playing again for the last 20 years I've never had anything 'decent' so treated myself to a Mim Player. Loved the neck, (set it very nearly flat), weight and everything but hated the farty pickups despite moving them up and down so after reading a load of reviews I put in a set of Custom Shop '62s. There she is, the best ever near as dammit to a USA you'll ever get. Dare I say although it reminds me of the '74 I think it's actually better. Can't put it down.
  23. Another bucket list transcription - this is the complete John Patitucci bass part for the opening 'Prologue' on Dave Grusin's 'West Side Story' album. Highly, highly recommended. I hope to get the whole album down if I can and the recordings allow - I have loved this album since I first heard it in the 1990s. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/prologue-to-west-side-story-dave-grusin/
