Does your bass have this brass nut? Unless you buy specific BEAD strings, you can just buy 5 string set and bin the G... probably cheaper that way. -
I sold Paul a pedal, top bloke to deal with - thanks for a very easy transaction!
-
Have you tried putting a 4mm in there? There's an initial round hollow bit (which a 5mm would go into) followed by the 4mm bit (which a 5mm wouldn't). Everybody in the civilised world uses 4mm. Hohner use 4mm on the B2.

Cultural appropriation and covers
DF Shortscale replied to DF Shortscale's topic in General Discussion
Lots of interesting viewpoints! Let's leave the 'woke / reform' stuff out of it if possible, it's not a political conversation, it's more about whether the meaning of things matters. If you want to expand this beyond music: Can we detach meaning from something we like the aesthetics of? You could ask, as a white British man, is it political correctness gone mad if I can't wear a t-shirt with a giant swastika on it just because it's a pretty shape and red and black looks good on me? Or, can I go to Millwall and wear a claret / sky blue t-shirt without getting my face punched in? Should I understand what those shapes and colours mean before wearing them? Does a piece of music symbolise and stand for something, or is it just a series of sounds that happen to make us feel good? -

Ive just installed a set of Artec mvba4 pickups into my Gretsch G2220 bass, they're are a perfect drop in replacement, unfortunately the pole alignment is quite off and a bit of an OCD nightmare, is this within an acceptable range not to effect the tone and volume of each string? as ive no way to compare what these pickups sound like on a bass perfectly aligned with the strings. I hope what im trying to say makes some kind of sense

I would say it will just about cope but may sound a little less clean !! My V4B 100w worked well in a loud rock band using a 2x12 and it stayed clean if I wanted it If your drummer isn’t too heavy handed it would be fine I think -

I don’t know about loud enough Rob as no experience with that amp, but I reckon that whole set up would sound amazing. -
I’m hoping he’ll be along to confirm, either way nice to see a small amp that doesn’t look the same as all the other small amps…

My experience of IEM is positive and I use it all the time for my main band. However, it took me a while to get it 'tuned' to my liking and also it took a while to get used to the isolation (compared to wedge monitors) when pretty much all you can hear is what's in your ears. Some bands mates can't/won't get used to it and have gone back to wedges. So my advice would be to start out with something cheap (Behringer P1 or P2) and a relatively simple wired approach, using decent but sound blocking MP3 player ear buds (I have a pair of £10 Sony ones which are now my back-ups) to get a feel for the whole experience. If it's to your liking, there are plenty of wireless options and earpieces and a dedicated thread on BC with all the info and opinion you'll ever need. And your cheap wired system will act as a back up or even a home silent practice outfit. I'm currently using a G4M WPM 200 transmitter/receiver kit plus Linsoul KZ ZS10 earbuds. For the main band, as we use a Behringer X32 desk, I have a Behringer P16m personal mixer which links to that desk (and the X18, I believe) via 'Ultranet' (their proprietary system) which allows me to create my own personal monitor mix from 16 channels on the desk. For dep gigs, I can use my Behringer P1 to take a feed from the DI so that at the very least I can hear my own bass playing. As it has two inputs, I could also take a feed from an aux out or headphone out of the main mixing desk for an overall monitor sound. The added bonus of good IEM is that it manages the volume and can protect your ears from silly on stage sound levels.

Having just spent a few days playing around with my vintage Fender Bassman 50, my interest in valve heads has increased, and I'm being drawn to the PF-50T specifically, as it just seems to tick all my boxes. But, I have never even seen one, let alone tried one! I'm listening to whatever I can find, and have spent too much time dreaming about vintage B15's, which may in fact turn out to be an expensive minefield. My Bassman is ok, but it's HEAVY. I expect it's actually heavier than the V-4B Reissue, and I can't envisage me actually gigging it regularly. My band isn't overly loud, not relative to my experience anyway, and at the moment a GK 400RB is doing a great job, whilst just barely ticking over. Having said that, we do seem to be in a constant negotiation with the drummer about acceptable levels regarding his drums. He does love to hit them when he thinks he can get away with it. I would be running it, if I got one, through a Barefaced Three10, with a P bass with flats, playing blues and more funky/greasy 70's blues too. Fire away! Cheers, Rob
