Just in case the amp starts working again use the below mentioned Noctua fan with their tension adapter from 24 to 12 Volts. These are the most silent fan you'll find. https://noctua.at/en/na-vc1 https://noctua.at/en/nf-a6x15-flx Everything is available from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NA-VC1-Step-down-Converter-Applications/dp/B0C6TQCQP7/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NF-A6x15-FLX-Premium-60x15mm/dp/B0DJMHV4RP/

Hohner "The Jack" Restoration
Mediocre Polymath replied to Mediocre Polymath's topic in Build Diaries
Thanks for the tip. I got a full A4 sheet of logos printed, so I have plenty of material to practice with. I just need to find things to stick decals to. The logos are mostly the one I use for my home-built guitars, but I did get four of the Hohner logos printed, plus another four in white (because I wasn't sure how the red would come out). -
It could have been HOHNER It's Back because of your effort.

Further to my recent post about our newly purchased but used rcf 710s.We used them for only the second time today but outside at a small venues summer season.2x vox, banjo, double bass and suitcase bass drum were handled with ease.Although not blasting but still reasonably loud the sound remained crystal clear and punchy.Just like phil starr thought they would.we definitely prefer these to our previous srm450s.Small sweaty pub next week so see how they go there

Long ago it was 3 h/d, but nowadays maybe 6 h/week. Not much, should be more.

Emergency amp needed: Advice on options please.

Yep good idea TE Elf is very good but may struggle into only 8ohms ? -
If it's not too late, you can use warm water with a drop of washing up liquid in it to make the decal slide around on the surface of the paint so that you can position it more easily.

There goes all of Pop music, and a considerable amount of opera. -
Last Dance with Mary Jane - Tom Petty Gimme Shelter - Stereophonics (Rolling Stones) Roadhouse Blues - Doors Suzie Q - Creedence Dead Flowers - Stones I'm jamming with some older fellas on Wednesday. I don't know any of these songs other than Suzie q (and I never learned that). Really out of my wheelhouse. I have three 12.5h shifts before that, and Tuesday morning is allocated to another task. I will be relying on cheat sheets/sheet music I think.

Just wanted to write about my recent experience with Bass Direct. I've been wanting to check out an Xotic 5 for a while and on Thursday evening I noticed they had 4 of them in stock. I drove up there yesterday and tried them out. I have to say, I really like the new pre-owned showroom. Tried out all the basses through a decent amp, the new guy working there is very nice and helpful, they even let me change the strings around to find out which had the better B string. In the end I came away with the oldest and heaviest of the lot (it just sounded the best to me, although the lightweight one in surf green was extremely nice too) for a very reasonable price. I've been coming here/buying online since 2018 and can say that they have really turned things around in the last two years or so. Really pleased with my purchase and my recent interactions with them.

Yes. Drums weren't bad, our drummer is quite restrained. And our front man is guitar and vocals - originally we were supposed to be a five-piece with him just doing vocals, but the other other guitarist was crap and never learnt any songs so we had to get rid of him and Dean went back to playing guitar too. Just as well, we'd never have fitted five of us in there.

Here's a thought: how much have you experimented with the amp settings? Options aplenty. Don't scoop the mids but roll off some highs, or use the Magellan's Contour and see how that works for you. Dialing in what you already have is the cheapest way to achieve what you're looking for.

Barcus basses. Greg Barcus has built a few, don't know if he's packed it in as there hasn't been any activity on his Facebook page since 2019.

Emergency amp needed: Advice on options please.
Stub Mandrel replied to Marvin's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd buy a Trace Elliot Elf as a stopgap - if budget allows. Cheap and it gives you a genuine emergency amp you can keep hidden in the car. Perfectly gig-worthy and gives you the time to try things before you decide on what should be your main amp. -
You never said you were Roger Waters.

From a quick look at other 10" drivers, only Faital-Pro seem to offer a 4 Ohm variant. I checked out another 4 drivers in total; the Pulse 10, a Fane Sovereign 10-300-2, a Beyma 10 300WRS and the 4 ohm Faital-Pro 10 PR 310. None as 2x10's are drop-in good matches to a 100L cab in respect of an indication of "heavy breathing", requiring 3 ports to control very high rear port air velocity. If that extra work is something the OP can consider, then the Fane or the Beyma are probably the best balanced. The Fane is £77.0 from Blue Aran. The Beyma 10 300WRS is £75.0. Other contributors may assess my comments about the high rear port velocity and decide whether that alone is or is not a deal breaker. -
Vtt relic jazz bass. Blonde heavy relic work. £400.

That said, I think that Green Day would have managed it with some white powder as it's a great pain killer, but maybe it's not a good idea... 😉🤔🤪

I have the MarkBass LM IV and chose it over the 58R because it has a metal case not plastic There is a Laney Digbeth 500H for sale on here too As Lozz suggest perhaps the new Peavey is a good choice I had the Orange LBT and it’s a great amp and warm sounding I play rock / pop / indie / punk -

If fan noise is an issue, then buy a GR Bass One 800 as the there's a defeat function (studio mode) and the fan will only work if needed, which means after 2 or 3 hours... Price tag is higher, but it's a terrific amp: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/grbass-one-800/ The lower wattage versions don't have this capability.
