Tonight’s episode is Nate Mendel, looking forward to this one (plenty of Precision!!) -
Okay. The weight question is a pretty straight and serious question to me. It can apply to anybody of any age when you factor in body type age or whether suffering from any particular injuries.

I've actually been wanting to ask this exact question for a while now! Remember lusting after this crazy fretless Explorer-shaped thing for a long time before it eventually sold on Reverb: https://reverb.com/uk/item/82270994-pete-back-custom-made-fretless-bass-1983 Googling it reveals some blog posts which have more information about him. Seems like a little-known luthier who made some really high quality instruments in his time.

A Basschat Ukulele Bass sub section now needed?
FiFoFum replied to miles'tone's topic in General Discussion
Count me in, Miles. My Batking f-hole fretless is my only bass that fits in an airplane's overhead bin...and its sound is massive. I'm still experimenting with getting it to sound a tad more like an upright. All in all, it's a different beast that rewards the time taken to fine-tune one's playing techniques. So much more to learn -- which suits me just fine. -
They're rubbish!! or maybe you just don't like them
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
Maybe I was hasty in confining the removed no-name far-eastern jack socket to the bin. I am now offering it free of charge with all washers etc for pickup from South London, or for the cost of postage. PM me for details. This represents an exceptional offer for anyone who enjoys living on the edge and would enjoy the frisson of anticipation in not knowing whether their bass will work when they plug in to play a gig. Will it last a lifetime, or will it fail next week? We have no way of knowing! *May not suitable for basses used with strap locks. -

Was on loan for a number of years and wasn’t used. Wiring loom had completely failed so taken out. I’ve asserted that the pickups and output jack work, so theoretically just needs a new loom. neck appears straight and not warped or bowed. I don’t have the right tool to adjust the truss rod so can’t make any claims about that. Plays well as it is. i’ve put the knobs in The Control cavity for safekeeping. when I was gigging it many years ago, I moved the strap button a couple of times to change the angle it hung on the strap, and the old holes are still there. other than that, the physical condition isn’t too bad with no major scratches or dings. £40 delivered or less if collected.

No. "What's the weight" is a serious question for a demographic that is pushing on in years, when they are considering buying a bass.

Another call-out for your time and effort. Definitely stopped me even considering a 'blind' purchase of one of these. Thanks - you've saved me some grief here.

Only seen episodes 1 and 2 so far. I found episode 2 pretty boring with mostly "agricultural" Grade 1 level playing. Maybe that's why they shoehorned in Larry Graham and Mark King, to counter the impression it was giving that bass can be mastered in a couple of hours? I did appreciate confirmation of my excuse for not singing anything more than oohs and aahs backing however; it's bloody difficult! -

It's got to be worth a go if only for the pleasure of building it and hopefully it could be playable.

No idea, I’m merely a sheep. But, I believe it’s come across from forums such as Reddit that aren’t so bass specific. I’ve read plenty of random threads where people have asked this about a pickup combination or amp etc… The Basschat equivalent surely would be ‘what’s the weight?’ Anyway, back to the thread at hand… very cool! Naive as I am, I think after googling it, it’s some of the first pictures I’ve ever seen of bootsy not actually looking like ‘Bootsy’

If this hasn't been a problem in the past then it wasn't your gear, it was the room, although a 4x10 arrangement doesn't help. You'd be better served with a pair of 2x10, stacked vertical, to get the upper drivers closer to ear level. At the very least your 4x10 should be tilted back and/or elevated, otherwise the directional mids that are the source of clarity are passing by you unheard.
-
Some kind of straplock perhaps? Might take a bit of adjustment but I reckon it would look pretty cool on the top horn.

Thanks so much for this overview. I used to own a few US Bongo’s and had a love/hate relationship with them, hence why I no longer own one. When these were announced, I was quite excited but a little dubious about what they could present for that price point. Your overview has confirmed those doubts. Thanks again, and as the others have said, send it back and keep enjoying your US models.

I had the stereo and sold it. Regretted it and bought the mono. It really is the Swiss Army knife of amp world. I’ve got a Markbass Evo 1 to try out at the moment which basically, has the Multiamp amps and effects but has two independent channels, which is exactly what I need. I think it’s what I’ve been looking for, for a long time 😁

£50 price reduction Trades - X Touch Universal. Try me with anything, I can only say no 😁 Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Chrome hardware and a vintage sunburst finish. Mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and a basswood body. A retro instrument with a modern twist." Maple Top Mahogany Body Mahogany Neck Lignum Rosa Fingerboard Entwistle MBH Bridge Pickup Entwistle MBN Neck Pickup Jumbo Frets 42mm Nut Width 30" Scale Length Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

If you're still using an analogue desk, I would encourage you to buy one of these digital desks and wonder why you hadn't before. I cannot adequately describe the difference the XR18 has made to my band. The sound is so much clearer and the freedom it gives people, to manage their own monitor mix etc, is game changing. It has raised our (sonic) game exponentially.
