  1. Past hour
  2. I missed that!
  3. Thanks for all the quick responses. Much appreciated. Isn’t BC just for bass sales? Oh, I’ll probably use eBay, as I’ve bought and sold in the past, and have a 100% satisfaction figure (sounds rude!).
  4. I’ll check it out!
  5. Another option is https://www.musicalchairs.info/sales all kinds of instruments for sale there; mostly clasical. ...although, I've singularly failed to sell a cello and some cello bows there; I guess that's because you need to try out such things and people don't want a journey to try just the one..unless it's something very special or very cheap. Reverb also ok .. pretty secure ( buyer pays reverb, seller ships, buyer receives, reverb pays seller ) ....whereas BC does rely on trust / reputation.
  6. It's only geography that's stopping me.
  7. 300 Hz here - there's a wide range around there that all sounds good, so I just went for the round number
  8. Bit niche this... I have a surplus to requirements Pirastro Original Flat-Chrome Bass Low B String. That's the purple / white one! Been on my bass for 4 months but in perfect condition, no winding damage etc. If you're looking for a thunderous low B for your 5 string or you're looking to anchor the QE2 then let me know. £85 including postage. Ta
  9. I've followed Seldon on Instagram for a good while and really like his designs, even the weird headstock! For those that don't like it, he can do a more traditional 2+2 for you...
  10. MTD Kingston KX5 👍 Great day again, everyone was friendly and the food was amazing as always!
  11. 4.65kg by my bathroom scales, 10lb 4oz.
  12. Selling this "mint", in 2 senses of the word, Sire U5. Its a great short scale bass, very light and upgraded with a Di Marzio DP126 PJ pickup set, Ki0gon loom (VBT) and chrome control knobs. This is the older version with the ivory coloured binding which people either like or not, personally I prefer it. I can't see any marks on it. I've got the old Sire pickups (black casings) which I can put in, in which case the price would be £285. Collection from Tunbridge Wells, or meet up in London for £15 contribution to my train fare. Possibly could meet up by car depending on distance. No gigbag or case but I'll pack it very well if you want it it sent but you'd have to arrange your preferred courier and I accept no responsibility once it leaves my possession.

  13. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  14. What a brilliant day. My first ever bass bash. A big thanks to @scrumpymike and family for pulling it all together and also the rest of the team locally. Great to see so many basschatters from far and wide (Scotland to SE London) all coming in for the day. @Phil Starr thanks for the demo with the cabinets/drivers. Lots of food for thought.
  15. These days BC only, Reverb’s a bit weak on processes that can be unpleasant if a case emerges, although it’s worse for buyers than sellers TBH, and eBay’s getting silly (eg new terms re couriers). BC remains the best option, especially for niche gear, I’ve had a couple of people join the forum specifically to buy stuff I’ve listed having found it in google searches.
  16. Today
  17. I recently bought a TC Electronic Plethora pedal, which covers me for everything I need. I just download the Tone Print of the pedal/effect I want, and have six presets available. It was only £150 as well.
  18. I put some stuff on reverb. It was obviously dealers who cantacted me. All offers were 50% below market price and I had priced competitively for a quick sale. So depends if you want to get rid, or get the best you can. Although that's probably true of any online market place. I didn't seem to get any private buyers.
  19. I've been using Gumtree for years now. Agreed, it used to be full of scammers, but these days it's very quiet, as if they made a real effort to get rid of them. As a result, I've sold many instruments on Gumtree and have always been happy with the results.
  20. So sorry to see this, I feel for you. If the luthier will read this thread I think it's also worth pointing out that some of the fret tangs are showing through the binding where they shouldn't and those black switch screws look a bit pis$ed, screwed in on an angle. Totally unacceptable level of care taken here. I hope you get a full refund so you can get one made properly elsewhere as that is a fab idea for a bass you came up with there.
  21. One of the things that annoys me, apart from my terrible bass playing, is speaker manufacturers specs. We have heard many times how the maximum SPl is often inflated by 6dB but many well respected brands will quote, as said above, their frequency responses at -6dB, indeed some quote is at -10dB. Some, RCF for example, do not even quote the limits. Wharfedale Pro quote their speakers at both -3dB and -10dB so you can compare. It is likely that if no limits are specified it is -10dB. So a Top that is quoted at say 65Hz as its lower frequency limit may well be -10dB down, a huge amount. By crossing over at say 100Hz, you ensure that the Tops can handle the parts of the spectrum that they were really designed for, the section where they. Really have a flat response.
  22. You should give it a go…….It was the first major thing I did on my modding/building journey after changing pickups and electronics. Just use a slightly smaller brad point drill bit on its own by hand to ream out the old dots then a bit of wood glue or superglue, insert the new ones, cut to length with some side cutting snips and sand with a little sandpaper. The old dots came out quite easily using the drill bit method.
  23. Well I really liked it, and for me it sounds like a pedal that could chunk up a Jazz pretty much to Precision territory.
  24. I've put a Thunderblade in my Junior Jet, and it's been a really good upgrade.
  25. X-over that I have had (KMA) or use (IE) is set to around 400 Hz. I checked the fundamental frequencies over the fretboard, and decided to try to keep these frequencies intact. This led me to around 400 Hz. It seems to work fine, and I can push practically any effect to their limits without losing the clear low end. BUT the possibility to push effects to their limits means that there can easily be far too much effect. Not only OD/fuzz/dist, but flanger, chorus et al. Not good: it is easy to get too excited of the possibility.
  26. The awesome Grainger Hades going through a Laney Nexus Tube 400 (8XKT88) + LFSys Monaco. I'm a big fan of a Spector through a GK + LFSys but this was next level. Look closely, there are 3 LFSys Monaco cabs and a Monza in this pic.
