  6. Apart from the extra J PU, I don't see any extra 'quality' from the 800 or 1300 series that my MIJ 305 doesn't have.

  8. This. Don't change the pre unless you want a tonal change from it, and unless it has a baked in EQ curve that you want/like, most aren't worth the money. Shielding is worthwhile, but really only copper tape, well applied. There are plenty of tutorials on YT. However, it may not make all that much difference in many rooms/venues depending in the local EMF/EMI and earthing quality. Best bet would be to change to SC J PU to a stacked or series HB version.
  9. The allegedly good ones wouldn't have known they were good if there hadn't been any allegedly bad ones.
  10. According to this you're spot on.
  11. Update: Received this photo. Blue anodised incoming!
  12. i had their Kinematic for maybe 24 months it's a good pedal , and the VCA type compressor works the drive wan't my go / flavour
  13. Not the best photo but I had this white pearl one made for my blue burst Tribute L2000 by a chap, earlpilanz who I found on eBay,for about £43. Just in case you wanted another option. I also fitted a Japanese tribute neck that I imported to it as it was more jazz bass nut width than the standard one. Apparently you could order the Japanese premiums (tributes) with a choice of 2 nut widths. https://ebay.us/m/2veGqa
  14. Lately I've found myself re-interested in woodwork after taking a long break, which came just at the right time as I picked up a botched/abandoned sg guitar project off eBay for peanuts. The plan - route a central channel to get rid of the off centre neck pocket and pickup route, fill with a strip of pine, re route for a 30" neck and new pickups/bridge. Finally to stain red in the classic style.

  15. I’d second the Chinese neck option. I have had several and they really have been superb. They sometimes need a slightly proud fret tapped down but I wouldn’t buy necks from elsewhere now
  16. Not after shipping to Poland. 36 quid for shipping is an OUTRAGE. Thomann ships it thrice cheaper. And Muziker ships it for free. But thanks anyway I'm actually tempted to grab Disorder and Komorebi - the latter offers Chorus and Flanger tones, and has LFO.
  17. Cheers Douglas. It's trial and error at this point, but I'll do another one at some point and see if I can do better. The tuning's not that low - it's drop-C# (drop-D down a half-step) with the low and high strings on my 6 both tuned to B. I wanted the bass on the video to just be a little louder than the bass on the recording, but maybe it should have been a little louder still!
  18. I can’t imagine most of you would want me in your band. I’m racist. I used to buy The Blues Collection Magazine (with free CD ) for the great music… right up until they put a white guy on the cover. That was the end of that. I’m sexist. When the breakdown service said they’d prioritise lone women stranded at night, I thought: yes, that seems like basic common sense. I’m transphobic. As a straight man, I’m not interested in a romantic or sexual relationship with someone who has a penis. From what I gather, this means I’m a TERF, a bigot, and should be cancelled immediately.
  19. Aaaaaarrrggggh, want one!!!!!! Looks amazing, I’ve seen these on the Shuker website and have been seriously tempted, the resolve is weakening…….
  20. Just got in from a Knock Off gig, supporting Therapy? at 229 Club London. Journey up not too bad, and managed to get parking right outside the door - result. Great backstage area where we could chill before and after the gig. Signal chain was Fender US Precision, via BOSS WL20L into my Sansamp, with my RM500 as a power amp. Therapy? kindly allowed us to use their cabs so I went into an Eden 810, so with that and monitors no trouble hearing myself. Therapy?s monitor mix was perfect for us too so soundcheck was one song and sorted. On at 7:45, for a 45min set, venue holds 600, probably 500 watched us. Being a streetpunk/Oi band we’re not really on the same scene but we went down very well, many people coming up to us afterwards saying how much they liked us and how well we complimented Therapy?, being not just a clone but offering something different. Footwear was my Vans trainers.

  22. One of my favourite bass albums ever.
  23. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I'll settle for a like 😂
  24. I think the paint should be enough to seal and protect the wood especially if it’s primer then colour?. However, for the sake of a little bit of grain filler, I would do a belt and braces job for peace of mind. The main potential issue is if it is an open grain wood such as mahogany or sapele etc as you won’t want the paint to sink into and therefore the wrap to dimple into any open pores. Closed grained woods like maple and alder don’t generally need grain filler before paint The wrap just needs a flat sealed surface to adhere to.
  25. Just looking at yours again, it's definitely cool. I'll try it next time!
