  2. I'm a big fan of The Cult and every time I hear She Sells Sanctuary on a coffee advert, a car advert, holiday advert, adverts for podcasts, adverts for tv shows, adverts about musical streaming sites, adverts about headphones or adverts about the merits of advertising, my first reaction is one of 'good stuff, Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury got paid again'.
  3. Always waiting....the interminable waiting.
  4. Always waiting....the interminable waiting.
  5. Agree with that muchly. Listened again with a good bass heavy EQ curve, the signature Ryan playing is definitely happening, perhaps not his most complex work but plenty going on, but its all low end and hardly anything mids/highs is cutting through the mix. Just no character to the tone. And yeah, song is still bad. Oddly, given how much the vocalist has declined in ability over the years, I feel like his performance is the best bit... (if you like that kind of thing). Hopefully future tracks leave a bit more space for the bass to shine without having to cut through an otherwise muddy mushy mix.
  6. I had the same suspicion about @Yorkielanc - joined up, made a single post, and his last visit was the day after his post. @Merton,you will see that I even hinted at that oddness, in my reply to the new member: "...welcome to basschat.co.uk - I am honoured that your first post was in reply to my question!" So, you are not cynical, but healthily curious. Either that, or we are both cynical...
  7. I discovered the perfect gigs for me, as we came out of lockdown. We play a lot of upbeat dancy 80s stuff in my duo. There was the curfew and everybody had to sit down, no dancing. Audiences loved it and no one fell into us or spilled their drinks everywhere Also the gigs finished early because of the said curfew I now love afternoon gigs at the weekend.
  8. I checked with Google AI and it said that copyright generally lasts for the life of the last surviving author plus 70 years. Up until 2013 it was protected for 50 years. Then Paul McCartney said......'Hold on a minute!' and Keith Richards said 'Oi mate!'.
  9. You've revived a very old thread, but I'm also in Bulgaria and have used Muziker several times with no problems.
  10. i'm a klotz fan, bought some ready made ones 20-odd years ago and they lasted very well, i'm now making my own with Klotz AC110 and Neutrik plugs, I've got a few made with Van Damme as well and it's up there for quality (and more flexible than the AC110) the suggestion for using @Chienmortbb is a good one, they have taken over from obbm for custom made leads (my speaker cables are all obbm-made) for XLR I would suggest Lynx, I've had a few from them when i've needed something i've not had the supplies to make myself and they've been top notch. @Owen's question about coiling and storage is an important one, even the best cable hasn't got a chance if it's not properly looked after, and I've had cheap cables last very well with careful handling. Matt
  11. Caline Pressure Tank compressor, excellent condition with original box. Velcro on the bottom. £25 inc. UK postage.
  12. The main thing that makes a gig ideal for me is a good response from the crowd. I find that I, and bands I've been in, respond well to an enthusiastic crowd. Usually the performance benefits and in turn my level of enjoyment increases knowing that we're on top form. Icing on the cake is genuine compliments from the punters. Pre-gig, I like to know that there's somewhere convenient to park, that there's a proper stage separated from the audience, that the landlord/venue owner understands live bands. There should be fair recompense and ideally soft drinks on the house. A changing room and back stage toilet is good from a convenience point of view. Post-gig, I like that buzz from knowing we've played well, a swift breakdown of kit and an easy load out.
  13. Two positive reviews from two people who have only joined to post a positive review and nothing else. Am I getting cynical in my old age?
  14. Yes. Ive had a few very low ball offers but sticking to a realistic price.
  15. I can`t remember details but if I recall correctly I think after a specified period (determined at time of registering or something) music can be used irrespective of the artist? I may have this wrong though.
  16. Remember the 70s and the Punk movement??? When bands were adamant that they would never "sell out"?? There are currently adverts on the TV featuring samples by both The Jam and The Sex Pistols - probably the two most vocal against "selling out".... My question: are tracks from 30-40 years ago which don't generate an income "fair game" for adverts and the like??? Integrity -v- income....
  17. I can’t speak to your problems and I think a medical professional will be the best bet. Personally my bass playing, posture and overall mental health has improved after going to the gym for the last year.
  18. A great service. Just sold a bass guitar and the transaction was seamless. Great communication, they provided the packaging and postage, they gave me a fair price and my payment was promptly paid into my PayPal account. I would definitely use them again!
  19. Quick video demo of it: Please excuse the sloppy playing!
  20. I left one band amicably nearly 20 years ago as we weren't getting any gigs and I'd got the offer of a quite busy club band. The band got a replacement, but some time later they couldn't get in touch with him for a gig and they asked me to dep, which I did. Subsequently they found that he'd died.
  21. We don't allow What's it worth threads so they get pulled. They get a friendly message explaining why.
  22. The clearout continues. This is a stock Ibanez SRMD205. 32 inch medium scale 5 string. Now discontinued by Ibanez. Specs: 45mm nut 18mm bridge string spacing PJ pickups 2 band EQ with blend. 9V powered. Matt black finish. WEIGHT: only 3.3kg being roughly 7.2lb Currently fitted with £100 worth of Dunlop Medium Scale Flatwounds. They went on in 2023 so should be good for another 5 years if you look after them properly. They are a traditional sounding flat, not a modern fizzy, metally nonsense sort of flat! I have owned this from new and it's done a few jazz gigs. I bought in May 2020 from GAK. I liked it so much that I had a pair of them for a while. This one was by far the lightest though. The other was quite a bit heavier. The other one went to fund a PS5 (sodding kids). The matt black paint has a few marks here and there but nothing particularly visible. Nothing that goes through the paint. Selling for £250.00 ono. Collection from Northants near J16 on the M1. I do not have any shipping boxes and as my local (was PMT) closed there isn't anywhere I can get any. Not looking for any trades, I need house room. Thanks.
  23. Today
  24. Actually, that's just given me an idea, next time I'm asked to play in the low B territory I'll just plug in to a fart pedal... nobody would notice the difference, might even be an improvement on my usual playing!
