  1. Past hour
  2. That seemed to happen very often. Folks ended up tagging him on that FB group to get his attention. Very strange. I'm no longer on FB so I don't know if it's improved or not
  3. By way of an update, over halfway through treatment and can see the finishing line albeit still a bit distant. But a good friend has asked me to join him and an excellent drummer to do a 45 mins set at a BBQ. A perfect opportunity to play again, not too long a set, outdoors to help protect my immune system and it's mainly country so not too taxing (famous last words!).
  4. I think @David Morison is right, you should be able to do this with the mixer and this will give you better control than any other method. I've not used the CQ so I can't help there. I use the aux to drive floor monitors with my duo It uses more or less the same mix as FOH (except when I swap electric for acoustic guitar where I turn down to compensate for the direct sound of the acoustic) The difference is that I adjust the bass frequencies as floor monitors are boomy due to floor reinforcement and you can in any case hear the lowest frequencies from the PA and you don't need both. Anyway after a bit of twiddling I get the same sound from the monitors as I do from the PA which means I can tweak the mix if my guitarist has changed his settings. You could do something similar on the monitors to create a better sound through your headphones, not ideal as the kick sound will also change but it will give you some flexibility until you sort out how to split the bass on the mixer. If you want to go for a hardware solution The Behringer powerplay P1 will allow you to balance two inputs from a beltpack headphone amp and your BD121 will allow you to split the bass into two signals albeit one balanced and one unbalanced. The Micromon 400 has a through feed and a stero input which are mixable and the Behringer Ultra DI 120 will split or combine two channels as well as matching impedances or can be used as two DI boxes. It's my favourite 'get you out of trouble' way of sorting connection problems and I have one in my leads box and one in my mixer box. Any one of these will work.
  5. The demise of the instrument store. I just think the traditional band, "electric guitar thing" in the main, is over. It only ever started because of the blues and R&R. The very two genres which in the minds of young people today are pretty much obsolete. I popped into PMT two years ago and it just seemed full of active pa and DJ kit, barely a guitar or bass in sight. Light years away from the, 'ye olde guitar shop' on the corner stuffed with 100 watt tweed front Marshalls, slinky Hiwatts and Orange bass bins etc. Sad really, online just isn't quite the same.
  6. What a fantastic colour. Congrats.
  7. Hi Folks, Flyht Pro 1U Rack Drawer 27.5cm wide x 25cm deep for sale. I bought this directly from Thomann as B-Stock and had overlooked its dimensions so I immediately tried to return it to them but they just issued me a refund as it wasn't worth the environmental impact of shipping it across Europe, apparently. I didn't even screw it in once during its time with me so it appears to be completely brand new to my eyes. Nice smooth action on the drawer. You're welcome to come and pick it up IRL from Petersfield, Hampshire, England or I can ship it to you for an extra £5 (which would be a total of £30). Happy to meet you somewhere local to Petersfield or arrange a fuel contribution from you if you need it driving a little further. Feel free to fire over any questions you may have. Cheers, B
  8. Only recently got this as I've wanted to try one for a while as a possibly workhorse for a function band. These are great basses but I don't think its the one for me at the moment. Really good quality and nice feel to it, and a good B string. Weighs in at around 4.3kgs. In great condition, only 1 mark on the body, the scratch plate and rear panel still have the cellophane on them. Could be interested in trades for 4 or 5 strings. Would prefer collection from Chelmsford, comes with a good Yamaha gig bag but I don't currently have packing material to ship. Any questions please ask!

  9. I contacted Support. They use to be swift fixing bugs...
  10. Quality bit of kit, I use one of these with my electric bass as a preamp to feed PA/IEM (and direct to bass amps when need be); the HPF is invaluable. Oh and I use it with my acoustic guitar on those alternative gigs!
  11. In great condition, Velcro on the bottom but not used much. Selling as I use my quad cortex to do the same thing now. any questions let me know. Shipping possible or pickup from Chessington or Central London.
  12. You did indeed. And I’m tempted to buy this back to fill out my bass sound on some bluegrass gigs. World is mad.
  13. Ah well. It’s been on the cards for a good while. I haven’t been in the trade for a massive 11 years. But there was always a rumble towards the 2010’s - us or them, etc. I’ve said all of this before - but unless you have a USP, it’s a race to the bottom. Crap margins, massive overheads and having to pay people who knew what they were on about a decent living wage… Fender and Gibson are retailing from their own sites. Pointless really - the days of drooling over Les Paul’s or Precision basses on a Saturday Morning…on the whole…seem to be pretty numbered. We live in a world where the next generation of guitar and bass buyers are buying online and deciding online. Best wishes to all affected. It’s shite when these things happen. I do think Andertons seem to have the podcast come shop approach pretty much nailed on. I notice BD are doing the same type of thing. Normans and Chicago Music Exchange have been doing it well for years in the US. I tried to get my lot (Dawsons) into social media early doors - but in typical fashion, they got someone totally disconnected from the punters to do it…so it flopped… After I left, there were various ham fisted attempts - too little too late
  14. I had a bass that would not intonate the G, to the point that I started to wonder if the bridge had insufficient adjustment. The cause was a duff string even though the string sounded fine. Worth trying, it seems highly improbable that the Cort has a fret distance problem.
  15. Hi Everyone, Selling this used, unboxed Aguilar Tone Hammer DI/Pre as I have ended up with an (ever so slight) preference for a different floor-based DI. This Tone Hammer was my go-to for quite some time and had an owner before myself so it does have signs of normal use on the front, sides and rear. It used to have velcro on the back which I've removed and have lightly white-spirited it to get rid of the sticky mess. There is remnants of an old price sticker on the back (the red lines) which I've struggled to remove so will ship as-is. I think it's the remains of a Bass Direct price sticker which I think is where I bought this DI myself in person. The DI is fully working, all the knobs functioning, LEDs light up, both foot switches work and I've relatively recently powered it via Phantom as well as mains. See pics and do please have a look at the wear and tear before firing me a message so that you don't end up disappointed when it arrives. The item is with me in Petersfield, Hampshire, England and I am happy to meet you IRL or post it insured, included in the total cost of £120. Anything other than a local pickup we'd have to figure out something extra in terms of chipping in on the fuel please. I'd be open to hearing about any budget-but-named-brand fretless basses or P Basses you might be looking to get rid of, cash from my direction. Thanks for reading! Happy to answer any questions. Cheers, B
  16. Up for sale is my sire five string, I really like this bass and the colour especially but I need to thin the herd! Great stingray on a budget really good quality for the money, it’s in really good condition no real marks to note. Collection from Chelmsford ideally as I don’t have a case or gig bag for it.

  17. Hi H = 44cm (incl feet) W = 47.5cm D = 40cm (51 P bass pic for comparison purposes!)
  18. Big and heavy!!!
  19. Even though PMT (and other big chains) have sadly shut down, music shops still seem to be viable in the UK. We have.... The specialists who sell just one type of instrument: eg The Gallery, selling nothing but basses and bass gear. Add to the list of specialists Just Flutes in Croydon, T A Craig (a violin shop in Sevenoaks), Laurence Dixon for Double bass, sax.co.uk The quirky: Hobgoblin, for folk instruments. Richards Guitars for high-end acoustic guitars and mandolins, with each instrument set up before it leaves the store. The traditional shops which provide excellent service: people here often commend single-store music shops, and which have built a good reputation. So, Rich Tone Music in Sheffield, and Rock Bottom in Croydon. As @SumOne describes them, such shops are "a go-to hub for musicians ". When I go shopping for an instrument, I want a seller who knows more about the item than I do - not someone who got a discount because they bought 20 boxes of guitars, and needs to shift them quickly.
  20. Anus of Uranus — Klaatu
  21. very nice finish ... I got more or less a similar effect, using the raw linseed oil from liberon I found on sale in the hardware shop close by
  22. Mutter mutter 5 string mutter cough mutter
  23. Never see the Japanese ones for sale. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one to have a one. That seems like a very good price.
  24. Weird thing is, I am half way through a novel. I picked it up lunchtime and, two pages in, there is the word 'lugubrious'. Three times in one day? Who'd have thought it?
  25. ...it's not only the look These are fab basses. I just came out of 'Musik Produktiv'-Shops doors (Thomann & Produktiv are the 2 biggest in Germany). actually i played a 'Merak' 10min ago... it's 3900,-€
  26. Today
  27. It's even worse. The E112 contains higher spec components than the K12 - larger voice coils in both the LF and HF drivers. I'd guess an honest power rating for the K12 would be 300 watts. Problem is, if they published the honest rating, nobody would buy them because the competition are pulling the same trick. 😀
