  1. Past hour
  2. Like I think most of my list of diy pedals I want to build sometime to try are on there! (And only one and a half I’ve already built )
  3. It works well within the context of U2, but would you describe him as a virtuoso?
  4. I was running it into a Barefaced Big Twin 2, mostly using my pair of Maruszczyk Frog 6-strings. I’ve been using an Ashdown RM-800 as my primary head for some time, so that was my benchmark in terms of tone, volume, etc. Agedhorse made some suggestions earlier in this thread about how to use the EQ (which works additively, effectively as volume controls for certain frequencies), but, even with that, I couldn’t get the gain up past about 10 o’clock without the whole thing fuzzing up. I like some hair on my tone, but I also like to be able to not have it. And using the EQ controls in the manner they were intended to be used did make things louder, but not sufficiently so for me. I owned a Bass 400+ back in the day too, and I don’t recall ever having issues with getting a clean tone with that, with it only getting furry when you hit it hard, and in a pleasant, “creamy” sort of way. If you cranked the input gain it would fuzz out, but only towards the extreme end of the gain knob. I’m not giving up on Mesa though. Probably going to revisit the WD-800 at some point - I had one for a while and liked it a lot, but couldn’t justify holding onto two heads at the time.
  5. Glad (wrap) All Over - Dave Clark Five
  6. Keeley Bassist - Boxed, Very good condition, velco fitted, no power supply. £120 Source Audio Hot Hand 3 - boxed. Think I plugged this in 10 years ago and couldn't be bothered with the learning curve. The rubber finish on the receiver is starting to go tacky, no idea what to ask for this, £30? Ampeg SGT-DI - Hasn't left the house, small mark above the "aux in" but otherwise very good knick. £230. Prices include UK shipping, any questions please ask, cheers!
  7. We appear to have had two miracles this weekend, the England rugby team managed to wallop the All Blacks and we have had a day of non rainy weather. So I've managed to warm the glue as its rather cold, Cut down two panels for two cabs, I have two new cabs and one slightly not-so-good-not-as-neat-as-I-would-like-it-now-going-to-become-a-spray-booth-cabinet. practise makes perfect or in my case, slightly better than the last one. I've cut down the first cabs baffle so it's going to hold the 3d printed blue air filter. I've also assembled and glued three quarters of one new cab and that's all clamped up waiting for the glue to dry. As it gets dark quite early here, I didn't get around to the second cabinet, but now the pieces are cut, I can do something’s indoors. Still need to cut the holes for the loudspeaker but that'll have to wait for next weekend now.
  8. Polythene Pam — The Beatles
  9. It really is a great pedal
  10. Recently took this wonderful Nordstand Power Blade 4 out of one of my P basses as I've been looking for a more vintage tone. The pickup has the black magnets (which have some wear from playing) for the stealth look and has an amazing, punchy modern p tone with a very lovely mid range presence. Can include the black pickup screws that came with it. £80 delivered ono

  11. Another sale as no longer play live this has now to go . It's an incredible piece of kit ( listen to Michael manring last album to understand the potential of this unit) . I have used it a bit but kept in excellent condition , only a few tiny marks as you can see from the pictures. I don't have the original box but it will be packed super well . Next week I'm also travelling up north if anyone interested .

  12. Don't shoot the messenger! I'm sorry to break the news but in wider society being a bass guitarist is not regarded as the prestige occupation which it ought to be. Although I would concede that in Jamaica I expect that might be a bit different.
  13. Ha! Thanks for taking the shot. I finished the filter board the week before. I just wanted them easy to plug in and use, and not on a shelf. Met some good people on BassChat while buying a couple of new ones to put on there, too!
  14. Curious. Did you get my reply to your dm? I just added @cetera to that conversation.
  15. I think Kris Novoselic and Adam Clayton are both decent players who've come up with good basslines on great records. I certainly don't understand why Adam Clayton is considered a poor player by some people. He's got a style and sound that works really well.
  16. Hi, how much is delivery and did you buy this from new?
  17. Really good basses - GLWTS
  18. really interested in this ill message u
  19. Well, Peter Hook prides himself on not knowing how to play the bass, whilst at the same time clearly regarding himself as one of the all-time greats. He's a well-known bassist, not an accomplished one in any musical sense. He's a personality, not a significant bass player. People will point to Love Will Tear Us Apart, Blue Monday et al. Talk it up as much as you like, I don't like his playing or any of those records, never have done. It never sounded good to me. His biggest accomplishment is playing bass in the two most overrated band of all time. As for the other two, they're not even personalities. What qualifies any them to judge other bass players is nothing to to do with their skills or knowledge of playing the bass. It is because they tick the right boxes for the editorial criteria of a TV show for people who are even more uninformed. That's only to be expected, not everybody is a bass player or even that interested. It's all depressingly inevitable. I'll be watching, though.
  20. I wouldn’t say that in a reggae studio, you might not get out 😁
  21. While not exactly virtuous levels of bass playing Krist Novoselic's play in Nirvana, unlike Adam Clayton from U2, consisted of far more than root notes, and he did quite a few lines that has become iconic, and are very melodic. I can't speak of the bass in Foo Fighters, haven't really listened to any of their songs, other than what I haven't been able to avoid, it seems like pretty plain boring rock to me. I do agree though that most of these bass players listed are not exactly what I think of as master players.
  22. I'm in Lincoln Tuesday night/Wednesday morning - where abouts are you?
  23. My band certainly would 👍
  24. Jings Crivens, help ma boab whit are you saying. Do you know the penalties for such blasphemy on BC. ? 🤫 It was nice knowing @Misdee, you have my deepest sympathies. 😂 Dave
  25. Hi all, I’m selling my Barefaced Six10 with Roqsolid cover as I just don’t use it enough. Most of my gigs provide backline and full P.A. support, and in the two years I’ve owned it I’ve probably used it no more than six times, so it’s time for it to go to someone who’ll get more use from it. The cab itself is in excellent condition. The cover is a bit tatty in places, but still perfectly functional and presentable overall. Collection / Meet-up: You’re welcome to collect and try it out in PE8 (Barnwell). I’m also happy to meet halfway within a 75-mile radius for petrol money. Any questions, feel free to message me, and thanks for looking! Latest Specs (from Barefaced) I’m not sure if they’ve changed over the last few years: Dimensions (H × W × D): 90cm × 61cm × 33cm 36" × 24" × 13" Weight: Cloth grill: 29.5kg / 65lbs Broadband Sensitivity: 103dB Max Power: 1500W RMS Max Output: ~135dB Frequency Range: 25Hz – 6kHz Impedance: 4 ohms
