Wall placement gives not only up to 6dB more output, the equivalent of doubling the sub count compared to well away from the wall, but also eliminates reflection cancellations. Uneven room response is seldom an problem in typical pubs and small to medium sized clubs. Every room is different, so experimentation is key to find the best spot to place them. Where you'll usually get the worst result is below mains, so that should be avoided whenever possible.

Small world... we've just been offered a gig at the tunnels so in my research I spotted a band called Butane Skies and the name just stuck in my head. Then I start 'window shopping' here for basses I don't need and there's that name again...hey @SteveXFR what's the Tunnels like as a venue, hard to gauge from the website

Yup, me again... Pickup and some books. As always, Lawrie is one of the good guys. Thanks

Bass not cutting through? Loudness could be the answer
Stub Mandrel replied to Phil Starr's topic in Amps and Cabs
A related thing is how isolated bass with loads of distortion can sound really loud and evil on its own but disappears or at least sounds much mellower in a band context. -

I know a pub with a hard stone floor, roughly 3m ceiling height and a length of wall in front of the band space also 3m from the wall behind. f=speed of sound/wavelength f=330/3 = 110. Oh yes, that room is perfectly tuned to a bass's A string's first harmonic and boy does it resonate... -
If you have a damaged collarbone it doesn't matter what strap you use. Maybe you could put the strap over your right shoulder, or better still, grab a bar stool and sit, until your bones are properly mended.

I think the clue is in the title, Speaker Placement Basics. He doesn't go into a lot of things but has stuck to the sort of set up most beginners will be working with if anything I doubt many bands have this much equipment to play with. Wall placement isn't a panacea and wall reinforcement is unnecessary if your subs are adequate. Placing them to one side means you can't match the level of the sub to both of the tops. Subs may be omnidirectional but the sound level still falls with distance so the bass will potentially be too loud on the side nearest the tops and not loud enough on the side further away. In any case most people viewing this for the first time probably won't have access to subs or centre fills. Steve's question is about directional speakers and where to point them and the heat maps are a really useful way of looking at this.

That grippiness makes them an outstanding solution for neck dive. They also make the heaviest bass light on your shoulders. I have one on both my heaviest fivers.

@Terry M. Seeing this as a production model would be lovely 😄 and as previously mentioned a run of BB3000 models. Possibly a few more finishes on the current BB line. Would it improve sales? No idea but I guess that's a gamble all Manufacturers take?

Blend in a ring nodulator and have the guitarists kneel before your filth proclaiming their lack of worth.

I was about to suggest this. Bicarb is slightly alkaline and breaks down the oils and greases that make most of the smells.

This is a wonderful bass and a steal at the price Peter has reduced it to. The one slight correction to make to Peter's advert is that the 6-way varitone switch is actually an original Aria SB-1000 one that Mike came across in his parts box during the build. The neck is a work of art in its own right! I can also attest - as many have before me - that Peter is an absolutely top bloke to do business with. If I had the funds spare I'd have this back in a flash, but sadly retirement has reduced cashflow significantly these days.

It's partly curiosity but also something to possibly record my acoustic guitar.
