FB now always seems to ask for a login if you're either on a VPN or a cloud hosted virtual PC. Presumably to "confirm you are a real person, enhance your online experience and harvest your kidneys. Sorry should have said data"

I love "Down By The Jetty". I had no idea it was done in mono after all these years. Shows how much I know. Wonderful album.

Stripping and staining walnut body - advice please
BigRedX replied to Grooverjr's topic in General Discussion
The poly finish I tried to remove from my 70s Kramer was very thick and well bonded to the wood. It was a solid colour finish so just a clear coat might not be quite so difficult to remove... Having said that, none of the chemical strippers available to the general public 10-15 years ago when I was doing mine were successful in doing much to the finish other than making it look slightly worse after a couple of applications. I didn't want to use a heat gun because I was hoping to preserve the look of the natural wood beneath the colour without burning it. I ended up spending about an hour a day for 2-3 weeks - an hour being the maximum amount of time I could stand holding the power sander, getting the finish off and then sanding the underlying wood smooth. If I was in the same situation again I would either live with the dents in the existing finish or pay a professional to do the job. Not trying to put you off, but just ensuring that you are realistic with your expectations. -

That's a great version - think I prefer it to Marillion's 7+ minute take!

Won't let me play which is odd. Says I have to sign in which I've never done before., is this adult fretless content 🤣 Quite relieved really as a) Ped'll just be another bloke who plays FL better than me and b) I'll have short-scale FL GAS

I'm also going to be stripping this soon (think it's also walnut), although it appears to be a very thin finish luckily. There is virtually no grain to speak of but I hope to bring out what's there as much as possible before finishing 👍 -
Does it go mwahahahahaha with sustain?

I give you a week of sanding to no apparent effect to revise your thinking 🤣 All joking aside, that was my thinking also, and still is, so if I absolutely had to strip a finish like that I'd take it to a professional, although probably not a music professional, you might might find a painter, furniture restorer or similar who'll do it for you at much lower cost than a luthier. Very unlikely and others who know the manufacturer/instrument will know better, but you might be very lucky and find that it's one of those finishes that you can pretty much peel off once you get under it? -
Update: I've added a Cali 76 and am using one for pick attack, one always on. Works a treat. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/289-post-your-pedal-board-basschat-style/page/486/#comment-5597175 @Osiris thanks for the input.

I misinterpreted the original post and thought the socket in the amp was wobbly. That's really good service from Eich - I had experience dealing with Thomas Eich with a couple of products from pre-Eich days and he was always very helpful.

I always find the “what bass is too expensive to play down the Dog & Duck?” question very hard to answer given that this was my regular wedding, club and pub gig set up in my function/party band days. They were the basses I most loved to play, so those were the ones I played - wherever. OK, I didn’t pay today’s ridiculous prices when I bought them in 1993 and 2000 respectively but their second hand prices in the mid 2000s was still substantial. The Sandberg I bought this year would probably be considered expensive by many but, again, I love playing it so I do! Here it is funking it out at our local jam night.

Woodwind started following 2 channel mixer pedal - what's out there?
-
I need to reconfigure my boards for a show in February and will most likely use this new set up for a while after. I was originally running two DI feeds to FOH, but I need to blend both my channels to one DI for this show. I have been looking for an inexpensive 2 channel mixer pedal and can't find anything outside of second hand Boss KM2 which would be absolutely ideal apart from the price. Does anyone know of a similar pedal to a KM2 that is being produced now? I'd like something small so it can be mounted on my board. A switcher is no good as I use both channels simultaneously. Thanks for any pointers
