  2. I thought about getting a double bass, but what with the price of Mr Sheen / Pledge these days I’m not sure I can afford the upkeep. ☹️
  3. It seems strange to me to see so many taking 'Music Theory' to be reading, or even sight-reading..! Although connected, one may be very proficient in theory without being able to read any notation whatever. I would suggest, even, that some knowledge of theory would be far more useful than reading (although both are Good, obviously...).
  4. These basses are among the best! Mike Tobias is one of the best luthiers in the world.
  5. Listing all your past basses is an interesting exercise. We really do run in trends - I've owned 19 Fender basses over the years.
  6. Bit of fun that someone was asking for on one of the Facebook bass transcription forums. This is the complete Mel Schacher performance on the tune 'Some Kind Of Wonderful' from the 1974 Grand Funk Railroad album, 'All The Girls In The World Beware'. Straight as they come. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/some-kind-of-wonderful-grand-funk-railroad/
  7. I swapped a Warwick fretless for a double bass many moons ago , still don’t play it really , but it’s a lovely piece of furniture
  8. My favourite is Micro-timin' With Mr Bloe.
  9. I’ll just leave this here then 😜
  10. An interesting arithmetic system you have there.
  11. Year started playing: 1982 Number of basses: 10 Music theory: 3 ** Technique: 4 Groove: 8 (** I did give myself a 1 originally, but then I realised that I can follow a chart quite well even if I can't actually read the notes.)
  12. For Sale EHX bass Soul Food Hardly used, as new aside from Velcro on its backside Boxed with PSU £55 inc Postage
  13. Number of strings: 5 Number of frets: 24 Scale length: 34 Number of pickups: 2 Number of controls (switches/knobs): 8 (6 rotary controls, 3 switches)
  14. Ouch! - The Rutles
  15. Is a higher number of basses a good or a bad score? I know the E-Type Jag used to win everything with 12 Cylinders, but would an electric Lotus 7 (for instance) trump that today?
  16. Today
  17. Year started playing: 1990 (sold my gear in 1997 and had a 12 year sabbatical started again in 2009) Number of basses: 2 (most was 3) Music theory: 2 Technique: 4 Groove: 7 I'm not very good to be fair.
  18. Good move.
  19. Thanks. Ive since made my mate actually try it and he now confirms I was right. Very tempted to get one.
  20. Genuine Ebmm scratchplate in black pearl from an early 2000s USA sterling 4h. good used condition
  21. Another 45-105 stainless rounds user (D'Addario's). Absolutely no issues at all.
  22. Year started playing: 1977 Number of basses: 9 (currently) - Just listed all basses over time. I'm reckoning 74. Maybe missed one or two! Music Theory: 10 - Music degree & two teaching diplomas. Technique: 10 Groove: 9
  23. That looks lovely! I went from mainly playing my Mustang to a SBMM Sub Ray 5 quite a few years ago now. I think I prefer 5s these days, but it's fun going to my Mustang from my Dingwall. Totally different beasts. Enjoy discovering it!
  24. I'm coming to the conclusion there is not a Gotoh Res-O-Lite lightweight tuner replacement for Ernie Ball basses - and the Hipshot lightweights will leave visible screw holes on your headstock. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'd prefer to be wrong. This is for a USA made Ernie Ball Sterling which has a bit of neck drive due to the lightweight smaller body. What I soon discovered is a bit of neck dive can be fixed not necessarily by a wider strap, but a more "grippy" one at the right height. Spend a bit of time and try raising your bass a bit. Let the top horn of the bass reach up to about halfway across your sternum. What I soon discovered is what I initially thought was unrecoverable case of neck dive, turned out to be quite manageable.
  25. Is it really a Fender Custom Shop Limited Series bass...... for £600?!!!
  26. The BLX130 is the one amp I regret selling and I sold it because,,,, I could not find the extension cabinet.
