  2. Best just swerve these tryers. There's a number of regulars on here that are clearly dealers or at least semi-pro buyers and resellers that always have basses sat for years on end. We all know who they are! There's 3 options really: ● Price high and wait for years to sell if at all. ● Price about right and prepare to sit on it while until person that wants what you have comes along. ● Price lower and sell sooner. The market often dictates price, so crazy prices just won't shift!
  3. You can usually pick up a TC BAM200, BQ250 or Warwick Gnome for sub £100 (and those TC heads are currently £120 on sale new) so there's just not much of a reason to spend a comparable amount on what is probably a considerably worse amp.
  4. Always seems to go down when we throw it in at the end of our set
  5. There’s a double bass bow that was sold on here for £50. It’s been overhauled by a specialist (max £300) and is now being offered for sale at £850 at various places (but not here). It’s not selling.
  6. Andertons has them as being in stock on July 7th........not that I'm longingly looking at the Bristol Fog finish and thinking about selling a bass to make room or anything..........
  7. I recently bought a Boss Chorus pedal off Paddy, excellent communication, well packaged and exactly as described, excellent Basschatter, highly recommended.
  8. Indeed.. Hobgoblin Birmingham were very patient and helpful to me in the past.
  9. Capiche. Thank you. It would appear that a change of amp is required; I can't recommend one, though (I'm a drummer...).
  10. Best amp I’ve ever played. Can’t afford, probably don’t need, but boy I wish I could get it! GLWS
  11. This was very tempting, but I’m really awaiting a Noguera YC semi fretless to appear ….
  12. That's a shame - a lost sale for them, and off-putting for you. About 20 years ago, I visited Hobgoblin in Rathbone Place, with my 7 year old daughter. They let her try every instrument in the shop (even a Low Whistle - the holes were so big that her fingers went inside them!). She eventually settled on the violins, and told me that her two favourites "played good and sounded nice". They happened to be the two most expensive in the shop, and the chap behind the counter was so impressed with her technique and her ear, that he offered to let her borrow his own personal violin while we were looking for a ¼-size instrument for her. Hobgoblin - YMMV.
  13. Dont think Ive ever turned the master down once setup after sound chk. Seems an odd problem to have.
  14. I’m playing with blues trio ‘The Alligators’ at this event on Friday evening.
  15. Given the size of the Short Scale Appreciation thread, I’m surprised this is still here.
  16. Morning I pulled a John East preamp out of a bass recently (just wanted to try something different). I just want to make certain it's all working before reinstalling elsewhere. Assuming the green wire below goes the ground, anyone know where does the red one goes? I have contacted John about this, no answer yet. Thanks
  17. Singing From The Grave — Anna Von Hausswolff
  18. I've just bought an ABM 500W Evo iii - wow, it sounds amazing, why have I waited all these years. I see I now have to wade through 46 pages of this thread to get up to speed....
  19. Indeed... we went by train last time as parking tipped the cost balance. One time we got an air bnb that had a resident permit. Another time we arranged for a sheaf of 'scratch off the date' parking permits to be in our room whrn we arrived.
  20. Funeral - Devin Townsend
  21. Ashes To Ashes - Bowie
  22. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  23. It's possible, I don't remember if I entered it, but I know it was pre-covid. I recorded it while house sitting for my brother.
  24. Was at Bonnie Raitt's last gig of the UK tour leg last night. No photographs, I'm happy to respect the request not to film or take pictures. Bonnie was in great form and the band were excellent. They were joined for a couple of songs by the support Jon Cleary who used to be a member of the band. Finding accommodation in Brighton with parking is next to impossible, so I went down on the bike and came back last night after the gig. 29 degrees on the way down, road works closure issues all the way back, but it was worth it.
  25. Finding a 5 string P bass was a lightning bolt moment for me. You've got to kiss a lot of frogs. . . . but IMO when you find the right P5 it will be a keeper. I lucked into a Mike Lull PJ5 and it's been my main bass for the last 14 years. You might need to replace the pickups to get the best sound. A good set will be an investment. Also putting on a set of TI flats improved the sound of my Lull a thousand fold.
  26. Seems that circuit diagram is for the Terror 500 mk 1 do you have the diagram for the Terror mk2?
