I hope your nephew appreciates he has a one-of-a-kind bass.

That sounds really tough on all parties.

It seems I like quite the opposite. The only JB I liked to play was a Harley Benton JB-75 MN. It's got a neck profile which is a way more to my tastes, and it's bridge PU is placed a bit further towards the bridge. I then tried to find a Fender Classic '70s JB, nut to no avail. Looks like nobody would like to sell theirs. So I gave up on JB. Stingray does the job very well, and there always is some P-Bass there too, just to avoid getting an itch I always get when I have no P-Bass Each to their own.

I think one of my bands has this. Keys uses an app, the rest of us get a videocassette-sized mixer with about 12 physical sliders. A tiny lcd lights up to say which channel you are adjusting. Feels a bit ott for a pub gig but works well. One gotcha - the stand clips on the mixers are too small for Hercules mike stands!

A little game - Can you tell which Jazz bass is which?

Out of curiosity what would yours cost at current prices? I'm assuming a tad more than £229 😁 -

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

I still have nightmares—and back pain—from the memories of this board. But I do miss the Foogers. I miss the MP-201 most of all. Big big regrets about selling that. These pics are actually from a music video shoot... and it seems the old band YouTube was deleted somehow, along with it went all our music videos -
I remember the day I first saw this and after that I never complained about bringing my Pedaltrain Jr board (back then) ever again.

Just bought a couple of bass bags from @three and the transaction could not have been easier. Great communication, very fair price, and a well packaged fast delivery. Highly recommended 👍🏻

In order to love the Jazz bass you need to love its scooped burpy sound. I loved the punch and scoop of the 2008 standard models, and was dismayed in 2012 when I tried the 'new' model with the Custom Shop pickups. They'd flattened out the scoop and made it sound very generic. Luckily things got better in 2016.

colin100 started following Action too high but fret buzz from on all frets from 7th to 23rd
-
I usually set up my own basses and can nearly always get them just the way I like them but I have a Musicman Bongo 5 and have been trying to set it up nicely. Recently I made some adjustments too the saddles and truss rod as the action was too high for me and also had fret buzz on all strings from the 7th fret onwards. I haven’t had much success and have settled for a compromise of action that is too high and a little fret buzz on these frets. Any suggestions to remedy this are more than welcome. Thanks Colin

mybass started following B string singles NEW. D’Addario EXL 170 nickels long scale. and Shaped Body Swamp Ash 2 piece
-
A two piece Swamp Ash body from a really nice straight grain length. This is one of two I shaped a while back but don’t think I’ll get around to working on both for a while. Another fretted bass I’ve made from the same wood stock sounds really good and sustains very well. £75 plus U.K. post The pictures also show the weight/dimensions and a mock up of a neck (not mine!) to give some representation of a final look. (I’m up in Evesham Vale for a few days Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th if chance would have a ready buyer…I’ll be player the Old Bush Blues at Callow End).

Well, the first cabinet is finished(ish). It just needs covering and tidying up. With a large degree of trepidation I tried it for the first time tonight. I was a little concerned as the amp output is rated for a 4 ohm cabinet and the speaker is 16 ohm. Having spent the whole of my working career in electronics I knew it was safe, as the load was higher which meant the output would be considerably less. But what would it sound like as I'd used a different speaker than the cabinet was designed for. Well it sounds great. With all the EQ controls on the TC Electronic amp set at 12 o/c I had a huge range of tonal control just using the guitars tone control, and as for volume it's all I wanted, enough for my jam sessions and more than enough for an small venue gigs or open mic's. I decided to omit the horn on this one, I am thinking of using the tweeter that came out of the damaged Ashdown cabinet in the second build. If it doesn't work I've enough ply left over to make several more front baffles. I didn't extend the port, I used it as it came at 120cm, so perhaps some tweaking there at a later date, but to be honest I don't think it needs it. When I turned it up in the dinning room it rattled the light fitting in the ceiling. I've bought some 4 way stretch camper van carpet and spray glue to cover it, in red to match the amp. Thank you so much to Phil, Bill and everyone involved in the original design and in supporting me during the build.
