Thank you @dannybuoy for giving me the heads up on the Zoom MS-60B+ and I took a punt on it and it arrived today and I've been playing it non-stop this afternoon and love it. Apart from the Octaver being just as good as you said it was and getting very much in the OC-2 ballpark, it also tracks really well, even below a low A, and you saved me some bucks on buying a separate unit and it's a huge improvement on that effect when compared to the past Zoom units we mentioned; however, the big surprise was just how good and useable the amps and preamps are and once again, they're a big improvement on past units. I'm very impressed and it was instant like shortly after I plugged in and it's livened up my EBS Reidmar 250 head which needed something. Cheers and much appreciated!!!!!

I had lessons from the age of about 15, and if I was starting out again I’d do exactly the same thing, I think it set me on the right path of how to learn, my teacher played mainly blues so I learned a lot of that first aswell as doing my own thing with reggae, I was also taught how to read music which is one thing I didn’t continue with, sometimes I wish I had but it hasn’t stopped me from playing anything I wanted, there’s no harm in just trying a few lessons just to see how you get on

....well, I'm currently having piano lessons. And I DJ/produce DnB and Techno as well as being in a Ska/Reggae band playing Bass and occasional keys. And I dep Bass for a rock band. So there is that.

Will it? If music is something done by AI there may just be less interest in it. Certainly there is less interest in younger generations than older generations. With pubs closing down and event spaces reducing, I can't see that there is much time left for people playing live. I have the advantage of being old so I don't really have to worry about it, but you know, people only started going to see groups from the 50s on, everything has a time and maybe that is over. What is the actual point learning an instrument if you are never going to be as good as a machine?

I suffer with uninspiring bassface, so carefully hoard the rare occasions I get a good gig shot!

I'm still pleased with all three of my Peaveys. All a bit different, but they should be. If they were all the same there would be no point having more than one. Balls? If I really need a bass with enormous balls then I have to go for my 78 Kimbara P bass (Uncle Mats). Baseball bat neck and no funny dead spots that many P basses seem to have.

This dynamic pricing is ridiculous. No, I will not see them this time. Most likely never ever.

This one's supposedly about 9.6lbs, so not overly heavy. It's amazing how the slightly different pickup positions affect things - this one is seriously mids-focused and cuts through hugely compared to the Inspiration I had for a short time, which was very subtle.

Definitely agree on nit limiting yourself to one genre. I did, it was a mistake. Im a huge metal fan and all my favourite metal musicians have a background in either jazz or classical.

I’ve done the Seperated thing for years but just recently moved back to combos. my main amp is a Fender ACB50 (valve combo) 50 watts but loud as hell. My backup is a Hartke KB15. It’s the new version of the famous combo. Light for its size and with its 500 watt class D power amp it’s nice and loud. but I’ve changed how I sound on stage. I used to get a nice big sound on stage and then take di out off the amp to give a bit out through the front of house. Now I get my di sound right out through the front of house first with the amp at zero, once satisfied I add in some stage volume with the amp. its changed things for the better in two ways. 1. I no longer need big rigs. 2. I sit in the mix now rather than out in front of it. The band is much tighter as a result

I’m the opposite!

If playing the part right was 90% I’d still be gigging. Unfortunately I found it is 90% behaviour and social skills, 10% musical skills. Don’t limit your education to genres or instruments, you’re only putting hurdles in the way. Learn music! Take the same approach no matter the genre or instruments, music is still only made up of rhythm, harmony and melody.

They’re both 72, health issues go with that territory. Alex has had arthritis for ages. The neckerchief? He’s an artiste, darling . At least I hope that’s all it is. Geddy has been wearing a scarf for years, maybe Alex wants in on that action?
