JPJ started following '63 Jazz Refret
-
There are only three people up here in the North East of England who I would trust with refretting any bass, let alone a genuine 1963 Jazz bass; 1) Paul Richardson at PR Guitars (Facebook only, looks like his website is down) 2) Gary at Sylva Guitars 3) Dave Wilson (again, Facebook only) But, all three are incredibly busy so expect a wait.

Calex started following Trace Elliot Elf + Custom Case

Well …I don’t need this at all ! I will be getting this later on in the year ! How could I not?!?
-
I will check and let you know. I am watching Asia as we speak!

Cheers Aidan, I did see that post. Whilst the collection and return seems appealing, on research some folk complained about the quality of refret work. I have dealt with MOR over 20yrs ago when I lived in York and had no issues regarding buying/selling. The company have no presence in York, I believe now based in Selby. End of the day, I just want the Jazz sorted. I'm not bothered about the retaining the originality of the bass, it's a refin anyway but it's a keeper. Ian

whynot started following ASHDOWN RM-500-EVO III Amp
-
Hi All, My Ashdown amp is for sale due to repurchasing an amp I sold on here last year, so I have enough amps. It's the current model and purchased new last year. Last gigged this past Saturday and sounding monstrous through my Barefaced 2x12. I noticed it could do with a wipe on the casing after I took the photos. There's no scratches or dents to the casing. Always protected when transported. Looking for £400 posted or £385 cash on collection. Thanks for looking.

Frank Blank started following Stuart Adamson.
-
Big Country didn't do a lot for me but I was a huge fan of Skids (their name does not includeThe), a brilliant, brilliant guitarist.
-
Nice one, Ive got that book somewhere, there’s plenty of stuff to work on, it’s good

I was concerned that using fingernails (or indeed a pick) would, over time, possibly damage the cavity cover or body of the bass. @Jabba_the_gut came up with a solution...

Mrnace started following Bass related purchases
-
Payday today for me, so bought Marvyn Gayes 'Whats Going On' for James Jamersons bass playing on vinyl. Then ordered 'Music Theory for the Bass Player' by Ariane Cap. I'll give this a good go through February when it arrives on a couple of days, if its not for me, i'll get myself on Beginner To Badass from Bassbuzz.

New dedicated bass guitar magazine in print for the UK!
jazzyvee replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in General Discussion
I wish you all the best with this venture. I stopped buying guitar and bass magazines many years ago as whenever I picked one up in WH Smiths to check out, they seem to be mainly be focussed on instruments and gear and musicians on the rock side of music and very little else. I do understand that is the big market for bass and guitars, though I would be interested in seeing if this one offers something for those of us outside that genre. So I will wait till some reviews appear here before jumping in to subscribe. All being well i'll be at the guitar show so will pop by the stand for a chat. -

You mean the way that we have a look for a program that does something very similar to what we want to do, copy it, and hack it about a bit until it does what we want?

lee650 started following Bergantino Forte D head
-
Looking at downgrading some gear. Up for sale/part trade is the fantastic Forte D head. Its a digital 800 watt had with built in tube emulation/drive as well as a transparent parallel compressor, which thickens the tone beautifully. Its an incredibly pristine and HI Fi tone and really brings out the nuance in your sound.while crystal clear Its still a very organic sound, which can be warmed by the tube drive. It can run down to 2ohms and has a lovely bright filter to add sheen when strings are dead, all in all this head can do it all. It comes with a Gator soft bag which is sturdier than the official Bergantino one. I am happy to part exchange for an EBS Reidmar 500/750 or a GK legacy 500 both with cash my way. Ill will post to uk only
