High Quality 3/4 DB Gigbag - suggestions?
Happy Jack replied to Happy Jack's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Their website currently offers only a 1/4-sized Upright Bass bag. 🙄 https://www.tkl.com/product-type/bags/ Sadly, their website is a bit of a joke. The 'Find A Dealer' section contains more mis-spellings of US State names than I have ever seen before and the links don't work, plus there's no pricing info at all. Apart from that, we're all good. -

Took mine to rehearsal on Monday. Found them to be very noisy when not playing. I suppose it could have been interference on the channel I was on but didn't have time to mess around and try other ones. Replaced it with a cable and all quiet as a mouse. -

Rounds for me. I used to use DR Hi-Beams but lately I use DR Sunbeams(nickel plated) on my Fretless Wal. On my Safran semi acoustic fretless I use La Bella Black nylon to come as close as possible to an upright sound.

High Quality 3/4 DB Gigbag - suggestions?
Burns-bass replied to Happy Jack's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I recently picked up a 7/8 bass and it came with a TKL gigbag. Never heard of them but it’s bloody brilliant. -
You are probably right since I have it set quite subtle so even when I have the Exp fully open the trail will disapear quicker than I thought. Maybe other owners/users can chime in and set it straight for us.

Depends on the sound and feel you want. There is no right answer. Only the right answer for you.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
kwmlondon replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Had a practise with one of my bands last night. Almost all originals. It was good to mee up with the other two, but I'm not sure about some of the material the guitarist is coming up with. He's getting overexcited and churning out a lot of samey material now but he's a very nice guy and fun to play with. The drummer has moments when she clicks and it works well, when she's confident with the song but when uncertain can go very much out of time. I did try a few exercises to try and start listening to each other and get them to both slow down as they really do race away. Anyway, hoping we can get into enough shape to do a gig by the end of the year. Some of the material is pretty good and fun to play and they're great people. What WAS really good though was that I got to play through a 4x10!!!!! God, I love this configuration. I have an ultra-portable MarkBass NY121 that I can take to gigs on public transport, but the luxury of a big old cab filled with lovely ten-inchers was a total joy and pleasure. I think that this is "my" sound. Definitely my sound of choice. -
New Fender Vintera II Roadworn 60's Precision
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
When I saw the headline as these were announced yesterday I initially assumed that all of the instruments in the vintera II series would get a model in this range. My wallet let out a massive sigh of relief when it realised there was no roadworn bass vi. -
As I recall, and i only saw demos of the 6 knob, the in lvl works a bit more like a mix, in that it allows you to control how much bass signal hits the reverb, at one end you have no reverb at all, just clean, and at the other end, you have full reverb. It isn’t a mix though per se, as it maintains ‘trails’. So if you ramp up the decay of the reverb, you can swell it in as you play, then pull the pedal back to stop more reverb appearing as you keep playing over the decaying trails. Of course, I may have misunderstood that myself as it wasn’t a feature of the version I had.

New Fender Vintera II Roadworn 60's Precision
LeftyJ replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
Yep, the Custom Shop used to have three levels around 2000. New Old Stock, Closet Classic and Relic. They've added levels since (Journeyman and Heavy Relic). -
The Bart mk1 humbucker shape pickups are in fact reverse P design and very good they are too...apparently little is gained by upgrading to the usa bart pickups....Corts are good basses! I would try and get the A5.

I personally prefer this to the 'heavy relic' wear. It looks aged but not beaten up/badly cared for! -

I stuck a pedal pcb clone of a broughton HPF/LpF at the start of chain and it had a really nice effect. also tried the Euna clone which was an ok buffer too so i mashed them together… with variable input impedance, the bass switch from Euna and the ability to switch the HPF in and out … it works not sure if it’s an improvement as I’ve rearranged the pedalboard since and it has way less effect also doesn’t fit in the spare gorva m45 I have … made the board a couple mm too wide

Not sure how that's an "unexpected" bass player. He totally looks like one of us
