  2. I guess it depends on ‘U’ or ‘C’ P bass etc etc, I found the status to be shallow front to back as does my current bass (goodfellow) but as you say quite rightly all opinions eh? 🤷‍♂️
  3. had one of those too!🤦 gotta say though if someone were to reproduce the L2 now I reckon it would fly off the shelves!
  4. the neck feels like a Precision but the nut spacing feels like a Jazz imo
  5. Man, you're getting rid of some great amps!
  6. Pair of Aguilar DB112 bass cabs in Chocolate Thunder (1x12 inch speaker with tweeter, rated 300w RMS at 8ohms). Incredible, meaty little cabs. They've been my main backline for over a decade but I've recently switched up my rig and these bad beauties need to go. They do show some signs of use (rusty metal corners, some tolex scratches, scuffs, little rips etc) but are functionally excellent. Some of the best cabs I've had the pleasure of using. £700 for the pair or £400 each. £500 for the pair or £300 each Collection from Pembrokeshire, can meet halfway or can deliver in-person for petrol money.

  7. This amazing emulation of the acoustic control corporation 360 preamplifier with variamp and built in fuzz is up for grabs. Hand made by the renowned JC Maillet and commissioned and imported by myself at great cost. I have used the 360+ for studio recordings, gigs, rehearsals and at home, it has never dissapointed. The preamp sounds fantastic and the fuzz section is the best I have used. I have owned this pedal for a good few years from new, as can be seen it's in pristine condition. Specially sourced UK power supply also included. Will happily run from other sources with the right leads (I used it with a trex chameleon). Fully detailed printed instruction manual also included. Only available as I have more preamplifiers than I can use. Try out/collection always welcome, or UK insured postage for £15
  8. I've got a Status Streamline bass, pretty much as a substitute a Steinberger L2. It doesn't really sound that similar, but it's a beautiful design in its own right and it's the closest I'm going to get to the heart's desire of my younger days. I find the Streamline to have a warmer tone that's a bit less strident in the midrange than the inherent Steinberger L2 sound, while retaining a similar graphite-derived clarity. It would've been interesting if the Streamline had been on the market back in the 1980's heyday of the Steinberger. Rob Green would probably have been fighting off customers with the proverbial unsanitary stick.
  9. Re: "neepster" on reading that word it just occurred to me that @neepheid should probably be pronounced "neep-heed", in a Scottish accent. Not "neeffeed" in an English accent, which is how I have been reading it in my head for the past seven years. Am I correct, or now being thick in a yet another novel and embarrassing way??
  10. It's definitely a good looking bass, hope it plays and sounds just as good!
  11. It seems that the core is round. If you are not careful when cutting it and then with installation, the winding may loosen. Hexagonal core keeps the winding better in place.
  12. Oh. This is tempting.
  13. Looks brand new Jerry....did you gig it?
  14. Mammoth WVH 👌 One of the best modern rock bands in my opinion ✌️
  15. When does it go from a collection to an obsession?!
  16. @Byo @Lozz196 I loved the JMJ’s punch, but I wanted a warmer, beefier tone with bigger lows, less top-end bite, and a hotter output, so I dropped in the Nordstrand. That said, depending on the amp and pedals the difference can be subtle—both pickups are great…I mostly just wanted an excuse to put Nordstrands in. 👀😂 My father in law has a JMJ with the stock pickups, I’ll do a side by side to see how noticeable it really is. 👌
  17. I had this up a couple of weeks back and withdrew it but I`m not going to use it as I sold the cab I was using with it so back up it goes. 18. Ibanez Roadstar II 1981 Japanese made bass with original case. This is the early 80’s Ibanez version of a Precision, the difference between this and some Fenders of the same era is that this model doesn’t weigh a ton and costs about a quarter! This is a lovely bass in its own right, simple passive volume and tone, split pickup and a nicely proportioned neck. It weighs 4kgs and is in pretty good condition for its 44 years. It plays very well and sounds like you would expect. It’s all original apart from the strap buttons which were changed years ago for strap lock types. This was prior to my purchase so I’ve no idea what happened to the originals. There are some dings to the body and some small blemishes to the neck. Truss rod is fine and works well, frets are in good order as is also the pickups and hardware. I got this in a trade and it owes me £495. Classic black and maple looks which I love, sadly the slightly wider than a P bass body is uncomfortable for me to play so it’s not seeing any action. I’m getting rid of any basses that aren’t being played regularly that hold no sentimental value. Sorry no trades unless you have a Sterling SB14 or a US Sub Sterling then possibly. It comes with what I was told is the original case. It’s certainly of the same era. One clasp is broken but it still does the job. Great vintage MIJ Precision alternative at a decent price. I’m sure it will bring back memories for some of you. Prefer pickup but can post in the UK only at buyer’s cost.

  19. I keep forgetting how much I like Skunk Anansie, Cass Lewis is a monster.
  20. It's like when you watch those "isolated bass" videos on Youtube - the tone is often pretty unpleasant when solo'd, but perfect when heard in its proper context. I got to hear that first hand the last time the band and I did some recording earlier this year - I laid down some fretless, and once it was in the mix with heavy guitars and a drummer who's not shy with his double-kick pedal, it became a bit hard to hear. Just sorta rumbled under everything. So the engineer and I sat down, we tweaked the compression (I use a fair bit of compression anyway), added some overdrive and did a little EQ'ing and frequency slotting, and, all of a sudden, there it was, a big, warm, supportive-yet-audible fretless tone. Soloed it doesn't sound great, but it works when combined with everything else.
  21. I could get used to the feel Tony, in fact I had really, but I just couldn't get on with the tone. They just didn't sound like me. Anyway, they're sold already! Rob
