https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EB2748--ernie-ball-pino-palladino-signature-smoothie-flats-bass-guitar-strings-038-098-extra-light My friend just bought an $80 Glarry Precision bass and was thinking of buying these. Of course, he just spent over $900 for a set of run-flat tires for his Pontiac Aztek, so...

handman replied to rainbowreality's topic in Repairs and Technical
Just like to say, your a very lucky man, I contacted thomman trying to buy a neck for my sire v7, they told me they don't supply separate necks, don't know how you did it but well played. -

Curious question for you all. Do any of you use a bass synth in church?

You can do a limited fret and relief check without tools but a good quality notched straight edge and fret rocker are extremely useful. Press down on the first fret and also on the fret close to the neck heel where it joins the body, then check the gap between the string and 8th/9th fret. That will tell you if you have too much relief, a small gap is fine. Then play up the neck on every fret (on every string) to see if you encounter buzzing on certain frets, the problematic on will usually be the next one along when you get buzzing. Some more troubleshooting if your relief is ok and frets are level: -Put your ear close to the tuners to check if isn't comong from them. -Make sure the string windings around the tuner posts are low enough to give sufficient downwards pressure over the nut. -Check the nut slots are cut correctly, not too wide etc. They may be the correct height but a poorly cut nut can be problematic.

Up for grabs is my Sonic Farm 2di4 valve Di. It has a upgraded vintage tube installed and I will include the original. Comes with a fitted hard case for easy transportation and security. Unused power cable also included. Cost with case and valve was over £900 offered at £550 including UK postage. Lightly used as an amp replacement when using iem at church and my function band. It has a subtle EQ section that fattens the bass sound and adds a little high frequency sparkle. https://sonicfarm.com/2di4-pentode-direct-box/ Link to Sonic Farm website above.

Another great music shop in Newcastle was McKay's on Westgate Road. Tiny shop but full of second hand bargains. I bought my first practice amp from there, a Wem.

I've never used Fat Beams but according to DR the construction process between them and High Beams are different resulting in a fuller sound. This is in concert with your description of each. High Beams are Sunbeams minus the nickel coating which is why I suggested them in a previous post. I didn't find them that rough at all though especially for stainless steel.

I bought this a couple of years back and did it up. It was professionally set up and restrung but I am just not using it. We were playing 80s alternative songs on folk instruments BUT I quickly got sick of taking several instruments to gigs and seem to have settled on using less. I added the fitted case, bought brand new from Gear 4 Music. The action is pretty decent and these are loads of fun / easy to play. I have it strung G-D-A-E but you can tune it C-G-D-A or like the top 4 strings of a guitar. Happy to meet Swindon - Newbury way which can be discussed via DM. Thanks for looking.

You mean to say the audiences are evolving and they're going to start being able to notice what notes I'm playing, so every mistake I make will be clearly audible? Oh god no.

As you're already used to the quality and consistency if DRs I would think it's a good idea to stick with them. Personally no other string I've used comes anywhere near them. If you're looking for something brighter, the Hi Beams and Fat Beams are both excellent choices.
