  1. Past hour
  2. I don't have a weight for it, but I'll see if I can manage to weigh it later today. I don't think it's particularly heavy, but I may just be used to it. It is mahogany, so it's not going to be light either!
  3. In my old band Knock Off the singer/guitarist got all the gigs, did all the Facebook stuff etc. he’s the typical cheekie chappie that just gets on with people, and enjoys networking. We were offered far more gigs than we could ever do, yes we were a good band (they still are) but I’m sure a lot of it was to do with his networking skills, plus the fact that we were easy to get on with and work with, always on time, and no attitude.
  4. Paid gigs for unknown bands playing original music are a rarity around here. If we only played paid gig, we'd never play anywhere and we quite enjoy it so we'll play the free ones. Pay is a bonus these days. Playing heavy metal is my hobby. Bar staff and security aren't there for fun so they get paid. The sound tech at our local does it for beer and bands get the same. If I was in it for the money, Id buy a white P bass and a white suit and play 80's covers at weddings but thats my idea of hell.
  5. Still available
  6. Yeah ive got some stock left.
  7. no , but thanks for the offer.
  8. Today
  9. Is anyone here using a Motorbass overdrive? Ive checked out some reviews online and it sounds amazing but online review videos often add in all sorts of plugins to the signal chain. Does it really get you to that Lemmy style distortion?
  10. Sounds like a plan. Look forward to the build diary. 👍
  11. Grey embossed strap now sold.
  12. A very excellent 300watt Warwick amp (head only, not speaker). In very good working condition, lovely deep sound, very usable compressor, lots of EQ control. Can do scooped, straight ahead rock tones, pokey jazz tones and probably a lot more. Good working condition, only slight tiny issue is that the treble knob is a little loose, needs tightening inside which I'm not brave enough to do. Bought recently with the speaker, but I only really wanted the speaker. I live near St Albans but work in London and Cambridge occasionally so could meet at any place, or post at cost. £20 for 24hr delivery. PM me with any questions.

  13. Depends whether its a corporate charity gig at a posh hotel, a small local festival, or a local church hall gig where no one gets paid.
  14. Piano Man - Billy Joel
  15. FS/T - Amptweaker Tight Rock in good condition with box £110 posted Fuller / fatter version of Tight Rock designed for single coil guitars but actually works pretty good on bass for Muse type fuzz tones, built like a tank !
  16. FS/T - Amptweaker Tight Rock in good condition with box £120 posted I won’t bore you with blurb but suffice it to say it’s a well designed (guitar) pedal.

  21. I appreciate I'm replying to an 'old post' and years later my comments here would be no longer applicable to Bubinga 5's original post, however coming from someone like me (who suffers terribly from GAS 😷 and owns far too many basses 😂) I would say if you have a spare 800 quid burning a hole in your pocket, don't blow it on a brand new bass at the (dare I say) cheaper end of the price spectrum. If you do, whichever bass you go for, chances are the day after you buy it it'll be worth only half of what you've paid for it. Instead spend your £800 on a decent secondhand bass from a more premium brand. Whatever you go for, always do your research. Look for what holds it's value and why. If you can, try it out first - it's amazing how much variation exists from individual bass to individual bass (I have two identical model Sire V7's and two identical model Yamaha BB's however it's surprising the difference when comparing like for like). And just make sure what you choose gives you what you really want - and you don't just choose it because you're seduced by the pretty colour of the bass (Sire are adept at this - just look at the number of times they introduce new colours to their ranges). Oh, and it goes without saying, beware inflated prices from the dealers and middle men. We all know them. Chosen well, you can get a lot of bass for £800
