Not the 70s version! The one with threaded saddles is the 58 I think.

Snakeskin Fernandes P bass - any ideas what on earth this is ?!
tauzero replied to millar138's topic in General Discussion
Not my cup of Earl Grey, especially as it's a P without enough strings, but it looks to have been very well done. -
That's currently the plan Rob.

Iโve seen these pop up secondhand occasionally and always seem to miss out. They look pretty and a lot of fun.

I'll do my best for this one but it's our wedding anniversary so I'll need a pass out.

Been away for about 15 years...Who did i miss?
tauzero replied to Gizmo's topic in General Discussion
Every manufacturer must produce a fan-fret headless bass with at least five strings (a four string option is permitted), with the exception of Fender, who have been given a 50 year grace period to adjust and to find some other huge pointless piece of wood that they can put their logo on. -
Well, a few days ago tbh. Acquired from a Basschatter very local to myself. Overwater Hybrid Custom 4. Well pleased ๐

Since I started transcribing in earnest, there have been several things that I have been able to get to such as the John Patitucci parts for Dave Grusin's 'West Side Story' album, the Jeff Berlin stuff etc. but there have always been things that I cannot get at; Percy Jones is a case in point. Marc Johnson has always been a tough nut to crack as his sound lacks the attack of someone like Dave Holland etc so I have struggled with getting his stuff down on paper. This track has been an absolute favourite for decades - I first heard Joe Lovano's 'Landmarks' album when it was first release in 1991 and it has been in my top 10 ever since. I think Johnson plays a walking swing bass line for about 24 bars on the whole album, the rest is so creative. This track is the highlight of an album full of highlights and I am delighted to get it up here. The tune is called 'Emperor Jones' (a tribute to Elvin, I believe) and it's unquestionably one of the greatest ballad recordings ever recorded. If you get a chance, have a look at a transcription of Lovano's solo (there is one on YouTube). It's unbelievable and heart-rending. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/emperor-jones-joe-lovano/

Amps have got smaller, cabs got lighter, p basses still sound great, gigs pay the same! -
Yes but the PV 70s allows you multiple string alignment option so is a better bridge. The bridge in question is to all intents a standard BBOT. But yes, aesthetics matter ๐

That the one with the โinsaneโ channel aka wasp in a jamjar? Still a lot of fun!

Oops - OEP was another pedal - this one looks to have proper big ones!!

Hi Phil, Can you clarify whether you downloaded an Android playpen to run the mixer app on your desktop, and if so, what did you use? Thanks David

Classic era Scorpions bassist Francis Buchholz has sadly passed away after a battle with cancer: https://blabbermouth.net/news/original-scorpions-bassist-francis-buchholz-dead-at-75 ๐๐ Cool guy, cool basslines. Scorpions were never as good once Francis and drummer Herman Rarebell left the band in my view.

Optima strings are brilliant. I got into them about 20 years ago, for the obvious reason. Playing on my Status Buzzard. They're not cheap of course, but I'd recommend them thoroughly and they last very well.
