Nice, I don’t think I’ve read anything negative about these Jazzes at all, just seem to get glowing praise from everyone.

It would bother me, irrespective of how well it played and good it sounded, I’d have to send it back. -

Don’t think it said either, but every picture/video I have seen of them they are pretty well matched. Interestingly on the inspection card on both basses there are initials in the assembly, setup, electrics boxes but the “finish” box is empty. -
Of course. But one need not be an arborealist to know that maple and walnut will have higher density than poplar and spruce, while luthiers know which species give them what they, or their customers, want. Also of course. One disadvantage to high density wood is weight, so to keep the weight down you need to go with some measure of hollowing out the body. Mine I made of all rosewood, neck through, with the bouts made in two pieces, each hollowed out to about 6mm thick. This gives the high density advantages of bright tone, tremendous tuning stability and almost endless sustain without being too heavy. I like the looks of it too.

It’s Sherwood Green Metallic, but can see where you’re seeing the Charcoal vibe. Yes it’s a US Custom Dual J, so a passive J setup with their 44-94 body and neck. This one is chambered for weight-saving, and also has a Series/Parallel switch. And yes, their own pickups as I agree, they’re great. It’s very similar to my US Custom 44-PJ which is elsewhere in this thread. Si

Was this sold as 'book-matched' in the description, or just 'figured'..? -
Well I gave it a second try and actually I’m starting to like it It’s definitely an Ampeg sound and is getting close to my old V4B in tone so I’m keeping it

Fretwork is really good, can get super low action, better than the first one, but I’m not sure it sounds as good as the first one, the bass seems a bit weaker, even with the active bass knob cranked. Arghhh wish I’d kept the first one. It was £599 -

NBD was actually Sunday, but I won't tell if you don't. I've been a dyed-in-the-wool Precision devotee for quite a few years, having found that they just work for me. But slowly the worm has turned... My Dingwall journey led me along the path Super P > D-Roc > NG-2, which obviously opened up non-P possibilities. I tried a friend's Jazz (American Standard?) and thought, 'I like this!' Then I found a 2001 MIM J at an auction, loved it, but was outbid. I was pretty disappointed. Finally I came across this Flea Jazz being sold by our own @Mickeyboro, tried it, loved it, brought it home, loved it even more. If I'd been a good boy I'd have shifted my D-Roc first, but clearly I'm not - no presents for me, but that's fine, I'll just sit and play this. It does what I hoped a Jazz would do - a different and spankier voice but still with authority behind the notes, a comfortable playing experience, and a sound that makes you think, 'Ooh, that's like a record I've heard'. Going between this and my original '73 Precision, the Flea Jazz feels old like the '73, not least becasue it has nicely rolled fingerboard edges. I've spent some time tweaking it to my preferences - neck relief, action, Monty's Instrument Food, and a replaced intonation screw (disclosed prior to purchase) and have been having altogether too much fun going through my Steely Dan transcriptions. I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to gig it, but there may well be a 70s covers rehearsal in January, for which this would work a treat!

Already posted on the main thread under NSSBD. So far absolutely delighted. Next, purchase some real Short Scale Strings from Newtone. -
Yes, that's a key point to note re. the U4s that they are mono transmitters. Our lovely, and very capable, little desk has 6 monitor outputs, not quite enough for us to go down the stereo route which would require 4 x 2 = 8 monitor outs for our 4 piece set up. Has going stereo really improved your gigging experience, Woody? If so, maybe something for me to consider for my crew down the line at some point! Is the U45 a decent step up from the U4 for you? I note that it's a 5.8 GHz, whereas the U4 is on the more crowded 2.4 GHz. "The Xvive U45 is a significant upgrade to the U4, mainly moving to the less crowded 5.8 GHz band for better interference resistance, adding USB-C charging, an auto-scan feature to find clear channels, and minor physical improvements like stiffer knobs for durability, making it a highly recommended buy for new users despite a small price increase. While the U4 is a good budget system, the U45 offers more reliability, especially in crowded venues, through its improved tech and dedicated channel scanning." Hmmm...does sound good! Not come across too many wireless IEM transmitters in the 5.8 GHz space (although the cheaper Swiff WX520 our drummer is using is also 5.8 GHz).

Selling my G&L L2000 USA. It has a few small scratches and there is a paint chip on one of the horns, but otherwise it is a really nice looking bass for a twenty year old instrument. You will not be disappointed by the tonal options you can dial in on this bass. It is literally the Swiss army knife of basses. I have included the Hiscox flight case in the sale. Collection preferred/ can meet up within reasonable distance.

Put some tort on it 👍 seriously … im Not aesthetically-minded generally but it would have to be a sonically-amazing example of that model for me to overlook it.
