  1. Past hour
  2. so you decided for the pickups over the pot capacity changes then? Lol. Let me know how it goes with the Fenders as I would like to move away from the Wilkinsons
  3. Ah, those aren't in the list. Another thought I've had is some 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapters don't always make great connection with the sleeve of the headphone plug resulting in a very odd frequency response. Might be worth trying a different adapter if you have one, or comparing the sound at your mixing setup to plugging the headphone straight into your phone without using an adaptor?
  4. Prior to the signature set coming out, there were adverts of Pino endorsing the standard cobalt flats, so one hopes he was actually using them. Prior to that, as stated above, LaBellas and, apparently, Thomastiks (I didn’t know that, so thanks for the info @Misdee) and probably stills does on some basses.
  5. Still available, but now advertised elsewhere. Cheers, Steve.
  6. This js my homemade spraying jig(mk1). I had it poking into a couple of cardboard boxes taped together with an old fan blowing out the garage door. I am about to build a proper mdf booth with someone’s used hydroponics extractor fan, lights and some proper ducting to sort the overspray
  7. I second what martin has described In terms of tone. I’ve the same bass. Mine made in 78 string with chromes. Sustain is great also. The profile of neck is copied from the late 70’s fender precision (ash body maple fretboard) so is a profile B. Very comfortable to play. It’s so articulate for a Pbass. Sometimes a pbass with tone down can sound muddy and bassy but this bass is bassy and articulate. Chords sound beautiful on these. If a funk machine lol Bargain of a price as they are worth more. I got offered more than this for mine when someone played it. GLTWS.
  8. The way I see it, it's already been modified so why not keep going and improve it? That's what I did with my 66 mustang which turned out to be one of the best bass decisions I ever made!
  9. I think I would start with one of the new Squier Broncos as the modding platform though. It seems a shame to be doing this to a genuine old Musicmaster but then, in the 70s and 80s it was probably cheap and unloved.
  10. What varies is the electronics of these early models. This one has the original Japanese electronics. Is it of worse quality? Hehe, I think the Japanese electronics are just as good as the others. Even much better.

  12. That's what matters to me. I don't want all my basses the same.
  13. Oh yeah. Smorgasbord Addict.
  14. Oh, and the thread is in the wrong place!
  15. Having had 5h1t experience with Elixer acoustic strings, I would need my 12ft bargepole to touch the brand again.
  16. Makes sense, if the flats are like the rounds, they look as though they have been aged 2 years in the California sun.
  17. Here is this beautiful vtt relics jazz. Only just got it, but i had the chance to own something very special and had to do it. So this is up for grabs. Lightweight jazz body, entwistle pickups, northwest pots and loom. The neck is a vintage tele bass type, defintely a p bass profile. All in all its lovely thick sound, never planned to sell it but as i say, my dream p bass came up. £20 will cover shipping in a box, but no case or bag im afraid. Ill add more pics later

  18. Hi, Thanks a lot. M AUDIO HDH40
  19. I’ll email and ask. Occasionally there’s a server error that slips through. Usually quick to fix. Try the solutions I gave.
  20. Ive tried a few flats over the years. Not really my thing but I love how they feel. IT's were my fav's, I really liked the suppleness and smooth tone, although I still have a set of Chromes that go on every now and then when I want a change but can't afford any new gear lol. IIR I did try La Bella's years ago but found them a bit too old school for me, but I do like the sound of flats when others play them.
  21. Hi, I'll screenshot the error message next time I try and log in, but I may not even bother - 6 years of technical issues, might just sell the thing once and for all. Definitely not incorrect username etc, I made a whole new account as resetting old passwords is impossible (reset link just takes you to the homepage.. )....
  22. I shouldn't think so (many early mods to cheaper basses like this are fairly poorly executed) - in any case it makes little difference if the strings are centred between the poles. Sometimes it can be because of pick guard shrinkage which pulls the pickup in one direction. For a fretless mod I'd probably put it near the bridge pickup and fill the gap with a ramp.
  23. Another very satisfied Ashdown customer here, my 18 year old ABM 900 had developed a bit of a scratchy sound at times, I thought it was the volume pot, I called Dave Green, he spent 1/2 hour on the phone going through diagnostic checks with me and then said box it up and send up to me and I will sort it out. Less than a week later the amp was returned with numerous new parts including new pots, new VU meter, knobs and slider caps now looking and sounding brand new. What an amazing company, great amps and such customer service is so rare in todays world
  24. At first I thought the pickups were aligned “by eye”, rather than measurement but then I thought, was it to make the pole pieces more centred on the strings, given the narrow string spacing of the standard bridge? In which case, it was entirely successful!
  25. Just watched some of the funeral cortège going through Birmingham on the TV, the family stopped by where the floral tributes have been laid and placed some there themselves, you could see they were broken and clearly very upset, there were quite a few cretins in the crowd showing absolute disrespect by chanting and singing Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy Oi Oi Oi while this was going on, maybe a bit of silence would have been more appropriate.
