  1. Past hour
  2. I’d just plug them as they are myself, the larger type cocktail sticks like the wooden kebab ones do a great job and they are pretty hard
  3. Oih, i like that.
  4. If you can sort of see or feel the edge of the holes with a pokey thing... How about using those threaded inserts in the neck, and bolts instead of woid screws. The inserts would need a larfer hole carefully drilling over prolly taking to or the edge of an existing hole.
  5. I have a decent pillar drill but do not feel confident enough to do this. I think I've answered my own question here 😊
  6. I agree. There is something about the bass where it sometimes works really well when you can't hear it as much as 'sense' it.
  7. If your tools are accurate enough, you could drill bigger holes for metal inserts. Even then it may be a good idea to fill the holes with wood (maybe glue is not needed, if the inserts are wide enough to cover the old holes). But that requires good equipment, definitely something you cannot do with a hand tool.
  8. I'm from Moog's legal department and you're nicked, sunshine.
  9. My 32" scale AGH has "standard" length strings D'Addario EXL170BTs and they are absolutely fine.
  10. I live in fear of an email from Moog's legal department on a daily basis...
  11. 5* OOMPH rating.
  12. Whatever the correct length of D'Addario XL nickel rounds go on my 32" Squier Jag H...
  13. Yeah they are great but I think I'm going to be better off with a 5 string again
  14. LOVE the personalised pedalboard!

  16. Was in a covers band a few years ago and after a few months of weekly practises we had only done 3 gigs...all unpaid! I suggested we all tried contacting local pubs to see if we could get some bookings. I phoned around a bit and after a couple of hours had managed to get bookings in 3 separate pubs. Next practise I turned up and gave the news to the band .One by one they knocked back the pubs saying...''too far away'' and ''shithole'' Ok I said, what have you got? As you can imagine they had nothing. So after a pretty tense practice we had a bit of a chat. I said that if we don't get gigs soon I am going to have to pack it in. They said they would have a meeting the next night when they had more time to chew things over. I decided then and there that I was not going to the meeting. Needless to say the very next morning when I open up our Facebook page I spotted that in the band line up it had been altered to Bass Player ?.........I contacted the singer next day and she said that I had ''Taken the fun out the band''
  17. Arranged, yes. Jobim has never sounded like this. In your pages you wonder, which bass is he using. I don't have IG, but managed to see one of his solos there. He has a greenish Moollon 5, a Gary Willis Ibanez fretless (GWB1005?), and a J like bass. Amp seems to be an Aguilar. Whatever the bass is, his sound is pretty soft even with a fretted electric (something I like).
  18. Just bought a body (of the bass variety) from John. Easypeasy. No hassle. Great to meet you and have a chat.
  19. Weekend report time! On Friday night, playing with Nine Lives at O'Donoghues in Aberdeen. A late one - 11pm-2am, and just as well because it was dead when we arrived to set up, not a soul in the place. Ooft. First half had quite the "paid rehearsal" feel about it, but it did start to fill up towards the end of the first half and into the second it was a damn sight better. Curiously, at the break, this lassie came up to us, told us that she was on a work's night out, complimented us as a band (thanks!) then asked for our autographs! Only the drummer and I were around at that time, but we played along and briefly felt more important than we actually are, lol. Gear was Sire D5, then Squier Jag H (with Ibanez CAP double humbucker) into the usual Markbass ISO Standard bass player's rig... But soft! There's more! This afternoon, we played outside on the back of a lorry at the Ellon Gala. Second year we've done it, nice to be asked back. It's a freebie - for the community, innit? Makes me feel a little less mercenary. Supposed to be playing at 4pm, well did a monsoon not chuck itself at the earth around 2pm? We had to close the side tarp of the trailer, and feared the worst for the gig from a health and safety perspective. Thankfully it rained itself out and the sun eventually burned through the clouds. By the time we started, it was glorious again - god bless the Scottish weather, schizo as it is! As you can see, gear was a delectable G&L Tribute SB-2 into the most boring bass rig in human history. Noise making evidence...
  20. Living In A Boxer - Living In A Box
  21. Springer - The Cranberries
  22. In some cases, it's definitely not in the blood. My daughter is an awesome bassist. If I try really hard, I could almost be described as someone who can wear a bass. It's great watching your kids gigging. My daughter is always out gigging now. It's a very proud parent moment seeing a venue packed with people there to be entertained by your offspring and them having the best time absolutely smashing it. Keep encouraging them and supporting them.
  23. I did ask Bassbags how much to deliver to the Glasgow area some years ago and even with a “shared load” it was going to work out quite expensive - into the hundreds of pounds as I recall, although they were very helpful on the phone, so I would recommend ringing them to ask for current rates. I eventually ended up buying a s/h DB from gumtree.
  24. I would save your money. I had the medium Elites on my Sandberg 32.5 scale. Recently put on D'Addario EXL170 Nickel Wound 4-String 45-100 (which I used on other bass) and the sound has so improved, partly due to the increased tension I think.
