  1. Past hour
  2. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Wow, what a nice looking bass that is! I'd be all over this if I had the funds... GLWTS!
  3. Brought some cases from Bassdirect. Two cases came in a single large Mono cardboard box. These will easily take a bass along with the case and a lot of packaging. Third case came in a guitar sized box. Both boxes very strong and I'd actually send a guitar or bass in a decent case in the boxes. They are very good. They are free for collection from North Yorkshire near Settle, though I am in Leeds on Sunday and will happily bring them along if somebody is interested. Seems a shame to waste them and send them for recycling. Rob
  4. Recently acquired a PF350 which I really like but wanted to confirm if serial number # ANDW0017 will put it in category of "potentially failing" or needing the circuit board upgrade kit. Paired it with an Acoustic cabinet w/ 18" RCF and Horn.
  5. I've got one of the original ones. Its a lovely thing but the pickup is a bit weedy I find. How does it compare to the Eastwood ones? Also, I wrote to Paul Day (The Guitar Guru) in the pre internet age looking for some information on the bass. I seem to remember he said they made 73 six string ones. Which seems like a suitably bizzare number...😆
  6. My current drummer (who is very good) calls it 'The Bluetooth's linked' when he plays with the right bassist... 🙂 EDIT: I should add that in my experience it's not always that the drummer (or bassist) has to be fantastic, it's more a chemistry thing: I've played with a couple of fantastic drummers who, while it was all OK, just didn't lock in, and that 'knowing what they're gonna do next' thing just didn't happen...
  7. Many luthiers are doing the same, simply closing their business when they have reached their retirement age.
  8. These are underrated! The low and high controls are super handy on bass 👌
  9. Probably this, but with Thomann's buying power, in the music industry, they should be able to require the weight of the bass be included on the final check list.
  10. Today
  11. I always used Fender hard cases until I switched to gig bags, so have never owned or used a Hiscox case, but it is always very sad news when companies supporting musicians stop trading.
  12. That's a nice story, we were thinking along the same lines 'We've got two PAs, two's gotta be better than one, but how do we do it'
  13. Thanks. BTW, the columns I used were Shure Vocal Masters. They were too tall to work well as monitors, which I fixed by cutting them in half. That gave us four of them, so there were no dead spots on the stage. This was 1973-74, when monitors were still almost unheard of, so we were quite pleased to have them. I'm not saying I invented them by any means, but I'd never seen monitors used in clubs prior to that. They came about because the band had the Shures when I joined, while I brought along the JBL 4550 copies that I had built, so it was either figure out a use for the Shures or leave them in the van.
  14. Then I stopped by and purchased that sabre from bass bros! Pure impulse buy. Really really cool instrument. Means I have two of your basses! Ha good luck with the sale op!
  15. So funny, Adam and the Ants very well observed, especially the stick work and the B&W aisle walk on the security camera, but I think it was - I assume - Sigue Sigue Sputnik walking around the corner with a shopping trolley that took the biscuit.....
  16. Shergold Marathon 6 only around 100 made originally - most owned by Peter Hook 😉. I’ve had four over the years and had an Eastwood version which I sent back as it was really heavy compared to my original one.
  17. Cheapest bass I can see on DH gate was $207 with delivery, assuming that covers any import taxes its about £150. Theres about 4 basses on FB market place for that or cheaper from as far away as Musselburgh. They wont look like a Duff bass though but you will get a chance to try them before you buy. It will be harder to get a bass you think is cool though, depend if you want to take a punt I suppose. Jonny
  18. I never knew about that back off the volume thing - that's really cool. I don't think it will work with my EMG loaded J though! The tone stays as is when the volume is reduced.
  19. It’s sad news, I commented on a Facebook post about them. I still have a few of their cases including one of the older rounder ones. It’s a shame that so many once thriving small companies are having to make these decisions.

  22. I think the F# tuning is what many going for a 6 string NG would likely tune to over regular tuning to be fair! But I agree you may want to look at removing the vinyl cover (or at least checking it can be removed cleanly) as its a little niche, don't remember seeing anything like that before!
  23. I believe that the body will require routing to accommodate the new Dingwall 'minimalist' bridge. I fitted the early Payson bridge to a NG3, which didn't entirely cover the earth wire rout. A grommet was supplied to fill the gap which was just about acceptable. As mentioned above, the current Payson bridges do not have this issue.
  24. He was using his old Ibanez Blazer through a Hiwatt stack 😀 I saw them in 2020 too and he was using the Blazer and a sunburst 70's Fender P.
