  1. Past hour
  2. Plain or self raising? Powder or soda?
  3. After some youtube recommendations I've gone down a rabbit hole of dirty / driven compressors. Like the JHS Pulp & Peel or Fairfield Accountant and that sort of thing. They get really quite dirty and are the total opposite of transparent compression. Other than those 2, what else is there? I think I'd like to try something like that. The mini size of the Accountant would be perfect for me, but I'd like to know about alternatives. Cheap or expensive recommendations welcome.
  4. Very smooth sale to Stew. As smooth, in fact as the flatwound strings he bought! Excellent comms and prompt payment. A pleasure to deal with.
  5. Very smooth sale to Jose. Excellent comms and prompt payment. A pleasure to deal with.
  6. "Ive taken up playing bass guitar, Mrs Saunders" "I can see you like to do it standing up with a strap on, Mr Gimlet" "Yib!Yib! Pmnff!Pmnff! Weep!Weep!"
  7. My wife got tickets to see Taylor Swift at Wembly on Saturday. We're nipping over on the train and getting a hotel for the night. Should be good! Feel like I need to book a metal gig to go to as well though 🤣
  8. Think I need to work on my query refinement process ...
  9. Any other clues? Colour? Simple controls or loads? Cloth grill or metal? Wheels? Speakers? 2x10 or something else? Was it linked with any particular genre or player? Did it appear in any adverts in a particular way?
  10. Thanks & 100%. I seem to have wound up with three practice amps which is why I am getting rid of this. I was blown away for ages with this - the aux connector, the blend dial, headphone socket and overall tone blew my mind when I compared it to the one I had before this.
  11. As bananas come in all shapes and sizes, the dimensions are 220 x 63 x 231 mm (8.7" x 2.5" x 9.1").
  12. Sorry, he didn't bite. He likes the look of it very much but is potless right now
  13. Hi - what fivers would you have in mind for a trade? Equivalent value, or cash your way? Cheers!
  14. I bought this a couple of years back and did it up. It was professionally set up and restrung but I am just not using it. We were playing 80s alternative songs on folk instruments BUT I quickly got sick of taking several instruments to gigs and seem to have settled on using less. I added the fitted case, bought brand new from Gear 4 Music. The action is pretty decent and these are loads of fun / easy to play. I have it strung G-D-A-E but you can tune it C-G-D-A or like the top 4 strings of a guitar. Happy to meet Swindon - Newbury way which can be discussed via DM. Thanks for looking.
  15. Yay! Although I don't know why I made a fuss, I know what it looks like 😅😅
  16. Richard bought my Joyo Monomyth and it was super straight forward. Great comms, fast payment and a genuinely nice guy to deal with. Cheers!
  17. I find 'election communications' ideal. You can guess which give an aggressive tone, produce false notes or 'dog whistle' sounds...
  18. I had a set on my Atelier Z Baby Z-4J and loved them. They have a round core rather than hexagonal, but despite the supposed lower tension of a round core they felt relatively tight even on my 30" shortscale (I used 045-105's). They were great, and defined but not overly bright. I've been using nothing but Elixirs for almost 15 years until I got my first headless bass, and Elixir don't do double ball end strings so I had to start using uncoated strings again. It has led me to try different string types on several of my basses and it's been a fun journey so far - but I've come back to Elixirs on most of my headed longscale basses as I just enjoy the feel of coated strings and love how long they hold that "new string-tone". I have GHS Boomers on the Atelier Z shortscale now (and a set of Slinky's waiting to go on next after the Boomers die), and La Bella Deep Talkin Flats on my Sandberg Lionel.
  19. Bought a set of flats from Gareth - really friendly and fast responding. Thanks!
  20. Wash it all off - You've Got Foetus On Your Breath
  21. A pair of pickups from a 1978 Jazz Bass. One of the wires (the red one) isn't original. One of them (can't remember which) squeals a bit if close to a loud amp with a lot of top on the EQ so please bare this in mind. They've got marks commensurate with the age. Sound clips are available on request. On sale for £250 posted within the UK, buyers pays PayPal fees. More pics or info available on request. Price drop £220
