  1. Past hour
  2. … so I put together a Fretless board today that I mocked up recently on here, and then put this one together late afternoon/evening. A bit of a departure for me using a Rockboard, I found it much harder than my usual Pedaltrain builds as the staggered cut outs mean any dual lock is placed a bit too awkwardly on the pedals and board! More pics than normal as I found it way more fiddly than normal lol! … now for my next board due fairly soon I’ll be trying an Aclam setup, I’m interested in seeing how I get on with trying to make the cable runs neat on that one ha ha!
  3. Welcome to the Jungle — Guns n Roses
  4. I bought a three set pack of 'd'addario' acoustic guitar strings from ebay a while back. They all had the same code number and were obviously fake when I compare the pagaging to a real set.
  5. Walk On The Wild Side - Lou Reed
  6. Going under the knife in a couple of weeks for wrist decompression surgery so this won't be getting played anytime soon. I'm dropping the price to £795 as it's too nice to be hanging on the wall gathering dust. This is a very playable, comfortable and great sounding bass, grab yourself a bargain!!
  7. Dude (Looks Like a Lady) - Aerosmith
  8. Today we kicked off the UK proceedings for World Goth Day (technically this Thursday but I managed to get our event listed) with a cheeky little in store record shop gig. I played mainly mandolin with some mandocello and a bit of a guitar (not bad for an old bassist). We had a pretty respectable crowd and I enjoyed the set. We even had a brief write up locally Deadlight Dance Devizine
  9. Thanks Sean, hopefully a good deal for someone, as it’s a beautiful example too. Yamaha are really consistent, but this lighter than my last one and is beautifully resonant and responsive to play.

  11. Relived... I thought the thread was gonna be about that bit on ya healing up after a bit of a YKK encounter...
  12. Another easy one in the main but there is a stunning little solo in the middle that requires a huge amount of sensitivity and concentration - don't be deceived by what you think you are hearing, this is tricky stuff. This is a Faberge egg of a performance from Steve Swallow on the 1987 Carla Bley album 'Septet'. The tune is called 'Lawns'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/lawns-carla-bley-septet/
  13. I pulled this as the new price has dropped below £500 now. However, on reflection I think £600 for the amp in mint condition, plus the bluetooth adapter, footswitch and carry bag is still a good deal, so it's back up again.
  14. Think this looks fab, unfortunately out of my range right now so have a bump on me
  15. Thanks for the comments folks. Funnily enough I ended up returning the footswitch anyway as I decided it was an unnecessary accessory 👍
  16. Ladies, form an orderly queue.........
  17. ^ Similar with Adagio Flats on my P and T With the Outer Windings around half the peg... good job they are the larger Dia peg Sit better on the Ibby SR's as the E Peg is that bit further away, and maybe longer length behind the saddle.
  18. Seems slightly odd that long scale length is a custom set with a slightly heavier E. if you want standard long scale lights, the price goes up to £33 for a 2-pack.
  19. Good god and my wife wants to know why I need to have 3 basses 🤣

  21. This is as good an explanation as you'll read. Normal Ethernet is not designed for the rigours of anything apart from sitting in an office environment not being disturbed. It's mostly solid core with a minimum radius bend. It has a outer core designed for lift shafts and trunking and once it's laid down, it doesn't expect to ever move. Patch cables are different but are not designed to move much. I wouldn't trust office Ethernet cable for more than a few weeks if it's in constant use. I have a more vocal view of the locking mechanism on Ethernet cables than @BigRedX that is wholly unprintable. This is based on being responsible for the design and management of 25,000 ports across 22 sites around London circa 1997, and when a decent intersite network was 35Mb ATM MAN connections. I still have a nervous twitch thinking about this. I think I'd rather trust a damp and frayed string holding an elephant 2m above my head than trust Ethernet in a gigging environment. I'm sure people use better cables now but I wouldn't want to use standard or cheap stuff in front of my Aunt Nellie. Anyway, @BigRedX is spot on Rob
  22. Great compressor. Most of you will know about this one already. Really versatile with the tone print app, but also super simple with just the single knob. Is in good condition. Has a couple of marks on it, but nothing that you wouldn’t expect to see from normal usage. Includes original box. Collection is preferred, but can post for £5. Any questions just ask!
  23. Yes, isopropyl alcohol will work, but beware with nitrocellulosic paint as it will damage it. It's better to wipe the strings with a cotton cloth as paper will certainly leave some residues, especially on round wounds. There are packs of alcohol wipes, certainly what the Ernie Balls are, but they are always more expensive than the usual bottle and cloth.
  24. Interesting. For some reason I’ve always wanted to give them a go but have been put off by the lack of truss rod. After reading this I might get one. Don’t mind a thicker neck as I come from a DB background.
  25. I loved my Wem Westminster, wish I'd never sold. It is about as simple as a valve amp can be so anyone should be able to sort that
