  2. Considering that a short scale has two differences to a long scale - shorter distance between equivalent frets, for the more delicately handed, and shorter reach to the first fret, for the non-Warwick Thumb-inclined, these only tick one of the boxes. Also the lump of metal which counterbalances the ugly lump of wood stuck out needlessly far into space has been moved to a position where it counterbalances it less so it will be more neck-divey. One step forward (for the short scale lover) and two steps back.

  4. I have one of the Jamstik guitars I mentioned above, and there's a small hex key like a little starting handle (I'm sure most BCers are old enough to remember when cars had starting handles) which can be used to turn the little wheels. It's attached to the bridge magnetically and tucked in neatly so you don't have to worry about losing it or forgetting it.
  5. The most obvious answer is that the wires from the pickup that buzzes are reversed, so the ground side is connected to where the hot side should be. If the connection to the pickup is through solder pads on the bottom of the pickup, just unsolder them at the solder pads and reverse the wires.
  6. If Ric don't do anything anyone wants then they would be stuck with everything that they make...
  7. Ta. I'll give that a whirl in ten days when I'm back there (probably won't have completed the cab by then anyway).
  8. I hope all works out for you. The thing about dealing with people who make your enjoyment disappear.... I was on the verge of stopping playing a short while since (earlier this year) as our ex-guitarist was just a nightmare to work with and he was making me and my drummer totally miserable and I had been dreading going out to gigs. Once we parted with him, I got the bit between my teeth to replace him with someone far more suitable and we were back out gigging 6 weeks later. Your mojo can come back with the right people.

  19. I've just started using a five string also for church/gospel music. This last Sunday was the first time it really "clicked" for me, due to having a load of songs in the key of D. I found using the D, E, F# and G# on the fifth string worked really well. Also saving the low D for every now and again just introduced a lovely low end thunder. Although I had my Stingray 4 string on the stand just in case, it didn't get touched for the first time in many years... thus said I still can't slap cleanly on the five string due to the tighter string spacing.
