I get that. What they’ve probably done is accepted it on commission and simply taken as gospel what the seller has told them. Thats plausible deniability. Of course, they may have taken it all apart and meticulously verified it. If they have, then all good. As for shops swindling people, I’m cynical I’m afraid.

Antibiotics are amazing. @Matt P is better now. The filthy infection has gone and he treads the path of the righteous man and woman by sticking to a great instrument and ditching the weedy things. If it were me, I’d take a few months of lessons to get confident. Online makes you sound great to you. As someone above noted, you have to sound good to other people to make tangible progress. when you can confidently tell strings apart, find notes and not think about which fingers to use, then consider online. think about it like this- if you were starting to drive cars, would online/only be a good option ? However once youre changing gear without thinking or looking down, you might want to consider hazard observation training or motorway skills but only a human teacher could get you there to that point -
your XL25 was narrow string spacing eh (?) your fretless Pedulla 5 - jeepers that is an instrument did you keep the custom headless (Shuker?)

Ah yes, I do agree with that from a shop owner's point of view. They have to be honest about what they're selling. And as far as I can see, they're not dishonest, just not...sufficient. From what I can see in the photos, description and @Belka's post, they never said the body was fully original, or the hardware. You bought a bass built from (among other things) a '72 body and a '77 neck, with Dimarzio pickups and modded electronics. I don't imagine the people at the Gallery leaving info behind on purpose. The bass player's universe is relatively tiny. If they would be swindling people, half of UK bassists would know within an instant.

I disagree as the shop has sold you something it isn’t at a huge premium. If you go back 70 odd pages, you’ll see one of my old basses was being sold by a shop and the description was incorrect. It was a parts bass that was built in Bristol by someone I know. I bought it and sold it with clear description of what it was and, crucially, what it wasn’t. Through the sale and resale this got lost. Someone ended up paying over the odds for a parts bass that had lots of changes and damage to it. Another example, I sold a 70s Precision bass body on here. It would have been super easy to stick a 70d neck on it and claim it was all original. Thankfully, it’s been sold to BC royalty and this won’t happen.

I've got the "the t.bone" IEM 75 system too, having bought it around the same time as the OP, but mine was 2nd hand and seems a few years old. What I can't seem to shake is the permanet "hiss" background noise that makes it unfomfortable to use. Anyone else had this? Ideally it's a problem that can be fixed (I've tried all available channels, used new high quality batteries, etc). Found myself looking again at the Mipro MI-59RT but it's a lot to shell out.
-
Yeah it's very iffy in a lot of ways. The logo does look genuine, so do the tuners. If a neck has been refinished they rarely reapply the serial so I guess it's genuine. It does not explain the missing bullet truss. Unléss it's a Precision neck (as @Hellzero also pointed out), maybe a custom order for someone who wanted a P neck on their bass. As the people in South Park's Margharitaville episode say: it is improbable, but not impossible. That is my best guess; someone at Fender branded a neck originally made for a P as a Jazz neck et voilà, a 4-bolt non-bullet truss neck. It is even possible the original owner of that '72 body ordered it from Fender when the original neck broke and said "listen, I have a 4 bolt body that needs a neck" and Fender only made 4 bolt P necks at the time. The saddle on the A-string has probably been replaced. Also, an early 70's bridge would have flat screws for the saddles instead of the hex screws you see here. From the rest of the photos, it's impossible to determine the age and originality of the body. It does look like a very nice bass for the price. If you like it, don't worry about the stories. Give it a proper bridge (Fender sells 70's reissue bridges) and don't worry about the rest.

“Rush” UK Tour March 2027
Bassassin replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
If you're a fan of long-standing you'll know the first album is considered by many fans to not be 'proper' Rush - and not just because it's little more than slavish Led Zep fan service. In the same sense the Lee/Lifeson/Milles/whoever the keyboard guy is lineup's also not 'proper' Rush. I probably said this in the last thread but I'd have a lot more respect for them if they'd gone out as 'Geddy, Alex & Friends Perform The Music Of Rush'. This just feels horribly cynical - they spent their whole career against the grain, refusing to compromise or take the easy path, always making the music that they wanted to make, whether or not it alienated fans, freaked out the record label suits or felt like a weird, naive mistake in retrospect. They always seemed resolutely Not For Sale. I'm now wondering how much of that artistic bloodymindedness was down to Peart? -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09L7F73YC Just check the right version for the earpieces you have (SF1 for the KZ earpieces). I went for large figuring I wanted the foam to be a tight fit in my ears. They feel a little bit like dough but are fine once they are in, and critically stay in.

Got to say, if you post on a forum asking for opinions you’ll get them, and in this case I think it’s totally fair.

Thanks to you too for your out of context comment, but indeed it's a wonderful comment, thanks again. So keep doing the ostrich and never give a true answer to anyone, lying is so convenient. He could have asked for advice first, but no, he did the opposite, so he must be prepared for the plain truth. Sorry for you, but I never lie, it's a waste of time and energy.

WOW! I've just listened to Ian Martin Allison's of the pedal and I didn't realise he had a hand in the presets including coming up with a very good 'Sledgehammer' preset, but the other stuff in there is incredible. Well, I need to try one although I'm not sure I can justify £289 on one sound. That said, Charlie Chandler's are selling a Boss OC-2 OctaveR for £249 and Broughctave are close to that sum used, if you can find one. However, @Sibob makes a good point about the chips and country of manufacture. If it sounds right, meets your needs and feels good under fingers, then that's the one for you. Thanks everyone

Storing a neck that is not attached to the bass
Andyjr1515 replied to Jeffskowski's topic in Repairs and Technical
Yup - if it was fitted then I would agree. But I think at the beginning @Jeffskowski is talking about storing the unfitted neck? -
Part of me wants to go but, ticket price aside, I have to get there (Glasgow), it will entail an overnight stay, etc - in short, very expensive. Ged’s voice probably won’t be great (despite recent coaching) and, not detracting from Annika’s massive talent, Neil won’t be there. I’m massively torn.
