  2. New Adrian Sherwood album 'The Collapse of Everything' has just been released. The title track gives a good idea of what the album is like:
  3. @ped It was fitted when i got the bass, and I think we felt that it was part of the story... and that it looked good anyway!
  4. I used to have one of the 2000's era Squire P5's that they did for a while calling it a P bass for the body shape .. when its got J pickups i found the Low B pretty flubby , https://reverb.com/uk/item/83693497-2000-squier-5-string-precision-bass-special-sherwood-green-w-jazz-bass-style-soapbar-pickups?page=1&filter=all
  5. Comes with the box and power supply - 12V. It will happily run off a suitable modern pedal board supply like a Cioks DC7 as long as you set that to 12V Amazing sounding thing - for me just plugging in with the EQ all at noon, and then turning the middle knob to "Old" gets an amazing bass tone. Only selling as I'm now using a HXStomp for guitar and bass duties. The valve adds a nice warmth as long as you don't turn the gain up too much (gets a bit fizzy then) and also has 2 separate Overdrive sounds with a control to blend the clean with the drive. One is quite traditional and the other more aggressive - but doesn't copy Darkglass at all. It has it's own thing. Actually sounds very nice for clean guitar as well - for that straight to desk sort of Nile Rodgers approach. Can be used for headphone practice and has an AUX in for an MP3 player etc. These are £350 RRP. The little cover on the Optical out is missing and I have no way of testing that bit. The rest is all tip top. I bought this on the forum. So I'm selling for £175 collected from Northants or add £10 towards postage as it's quite heavy. Good demo of it:
  6. Absolutely stunning job. Interesting that you replaced the non original bridge cover - is that a Daryl Jones nod?
  7. I think the simplest way is best - just say as others have indicated that it's not working for you and move on.
  8. Had also been asked about the weight of this: 4.15 kg / 9.15 lbs
  9. I had to do this a few years back, I did agree to stay around til they found a replacement which I thought was the decent thing to do.
  10. As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £10.50 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears the Eden's seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

  11. Reduced to £50. Kent Armstrong Bass Humbucker for a 4 string bass. Circa 1990 when I purchased new and still in excellent condition and virtually unmarked. It's been in two of my basses over the last 35 years and sounds great. I think these were handmade, add £7.00 for UK insured postage.

  12. Personally, if I could only keep one, I would keep the U5. I had the Jaguar SS a few years back and I don’t recall it being as well made and I also recall the Jag being a real neck diver but I might be confusing it with the 32” humbucker version I also owned for a while. I love the rolled edges on the U5 neck, the flamed maple top (unless you have the green one), the lack of hum and the serrated saddles. I guess in the Jag’s favour: it is easier to upgrade things like the bridge and machine heads (standard Fender pattern) and it has more conventional contouring (belly and arm cuts). However, the U5 is the first “cheap” bass that I have not felt the need to upgrade. The bridge pickup could be stronger but I remember the Jag’s being even more pathetic and the P not being that great either. Each to their own though. It will be interesting to hear where you land. BTW what’s wrong with having two shorties?
  13. If I bought a HX stomp, a pinstripe MISO and at least one 3leaf pedal would that count?
  14. Heading back home from a trip to New York and Nashville, help a brother out with his credit card bill type bump.
  15. I think the key part of that infomercial was where he was saying he was playing their own pedal back to them and they didn't realise it was their pedal... he can make gear sound good - that goes a long way. Plus - good marketing, and a really condidered feature set.
  16. Agree with this. Back then they were really cutting edge and had great service. I've kept mine and I love the cabs. The only issues are the buttons.
  17. If her bath is big enough, perhaps you could pop round and give her advice on reaching the high notes. (Don't drop the i-Pad in though.) Recommend the guitarist for the award of MBE and see if he cottons on.
  18. Immaculate condition and in original box. This pedal needs no introduction, it’s a bass rig on your pedal board. Selling because I prefer my alternative option for DI. Price includes shipping to locations in the UK. I did the photos myself and I am blind, so my apologies if they look like they were taken by a drunk person.
  19. Excellent. Hope it brings you years of playing-happiness.

  21. Thanks for the thoughts all. I think the issue of tonal variation is that the way things are at present, I’m simply not getting much contribution from the bridge pickup, and being passive there’s not really much can be done about that. I just need more middy J tone. And then if I factor in the single-coil hum issues, some kind of “humbucking” active PJ solution seems a reasonable way to go. I’m properly tempted by the EMG PJ, but of course very aware that I might be wasting my time/money and should have gone out for dinner or bought a book. Just not a book on guitar mods. P
  22. If you don't own one of these, a Noble/Capo and a Cali 76, are you even really a bass player
  23. Dick-a-Dum-Dum — Des O'Connor
  24. I did this and it went down really well, they were apologetic that I'd been committed for so long (same length as you). Do it sooner rather than later and keep searching.
  25. Tearfully say "We need to talk. I'm not ready for this kind of relationship - you deserve better, it's not you, it's me." Then run away laughing and shout "Smell ya'later losers!" (try not to trip over at this point).
  26. I'm in that minority too 🤣
