Being a little lazy here i know, but is there a thread on BC that shares downloads of patches we have created? I say 'we' ive not created any yet, waiting for a USB-midi kit to arrive. As a complete novice to the software, im interested to hear others creations

Nice one Dave, looks even more compact than in the ads! I've been pondering a standalone multifx to take to forthcoming travel-light gigs for several months. The Valeton, Zoom B2-4 (no PC/android editor) were on my radar and I also came close to getting a little Ampero Mini. I was about to make do and mend with my old B1-4 when I got offered a Boss GX10 from my fav BC Boss-angel, and, given I'd already had very good experience with the GT1000 Core and was up to speed on the UI, kinda made sense to go for the GX10 in my case. Hope you get on well with the Valeton mate, although you, bass pedals & accessories and "keeper" should never really be allowed to appear in the same sentence? 😂

Nord Electro 4D 61 Keyboard Weighted Waterfall SW61 Superb Nord Electro keyboard - this has all the classic acoustic and electro mechanical keyboards you could wish for for live and studio performances. Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos, acoustic grands and uprights Hammond, Farfisa and Vox organs. It even has Mellotron and Chamberlain samples, plus strings, harps and guitars. This version also has drawbar control. It’s a classic in its own right but still updateable using the Nord site and sample library. Included is the keyboard, user manual, mains lead, damper pedal, sample library on CD plus a nice heavily padded gig-bag. I have added a custom ‘half moon’ switch to control the rotary speaker simulation from the keyboard rather than using a foot switch like an old Hammond. If you collect in person I’ll also include a stand. The price is non-negotiable and sorry no trades. It is feasible to post but only in the UK and at your cost and risk. See pics - I’ve not gigged it but have used it in rehearsals occasionally. To be honest it’s been used at home as a piano and the other wonderful sounds have been wasted! Selling as I use my old Korg live as I’m not worried about it being knocked about and I’m going to buy a simple piano for home use.

Keith McMillen KMI 12 Step and MIDI Expander This is the original KMI 12 Step Controller. It can be used as a set of bass pedals, to trigger chords, samples or even drum sounds. I’ve used it with a variety of synth modules for adding strings and organ for live gigs. I’m now playing more keyboards live so I’ve gone back to my Hammond bass pedals. There is software online to hook it up to a computer or iPad but I’ve always used it with hardware and it has done the job really well. I’ve colour coded the ins and outs with tape but can remove if required I’ve also taped the note names on the unit as I found it easier to see live. I used masking tape so it’s easy to remove without much residue to clean. KMI has now been rebranded as Muse Kinetics since Keith McMillen sadly died last year. Support is still available for all the KMI branded versions of their products. It’s really small and neat compared to a traditional bass pedal controller and weighs next to nothing. The unit itself is slim and made from woven carbon fibre. I have the original (tatty) packaging for both the pedals and the expander. I’ve included a link so you can see what it does. The Mark 2 version retails at around £435 street. The included MIDI expander was bought separately for £65 as I wanted to integrate it with my outboard hardware rather than use it with my computer. Postage at buyer’s cost UK only. No trades.

Hi, Found this site via a Google search earlier tonight. I'm looking to buy an entry level bass to learn to play, which lead me to this forum. I'm a late starter, as am no spring chicken, well into my 50's now. But you are never too old to learn! Looking forward to browsing around the various pages on the site and start learning the craft of playing bass.

Working through the ABRSM piano grades
LawrenceH replied to bass_dinger's topic in Other Instruments
Don't take this as a dampener, but rather a way of avoiding disappointment due to unrealistic expectations - the ABRSM grades are not designed as a linear progression as far as hours put in per grade. The estimated Total Qualification Time for preparing for grade 5 is 3x that for grade 1, with 2x the Guided Learning Time (ie lessons). See page 6 of the piano syllabus if you want more details, or not, because the estimated are optimistic IMO and especially so for an adult learner once you hit the higher grades! - Today

Why are venue house bass amps always such utter sh#te?
lozkerr replied to Paddy Morris's topic in Amps and Cabs
That is exactly what I do. Play last encore (assuming we're asked for one 😉 ), mute amp, unplug and switch off wireless transmitter, put bass into gig bag, pedal board into case, coil cables, change shades for normal specs and get off the stage sharpish. Takes about three minutes to get everything where it should be and I do final tidying up backstage or in the green room. That just seems to me to be the professional thing to do. -

My GP-50 arrived today. It does sound exactly the same as the GP-5, but sooooo much easier to use. No need to use the App at all, except for one thing. The so called onboard drum machine is nothing more than 10 different patterns of high hat. So basically a metronome. You still need the app to get any proper drum patterns. I dont intend to use this feature, but I find it very misleading (it is mentioned in the manual, but easy to miss until you get one and try and get some drum patterns going). Still, that aside, it's a keeper. I wont even need to use the Chocolate Plus now.

This came up in the Sky Arts thread (where I also mentioned Robbie Shakespeare to general blanks). For some reason they've got to be punk/new wave/prog to get the basschat radar pinging!

I've just read that Hofner have filed for bankruptcy protection in Bavaria. I assume this is the same as filing for 'Chapter 11' in the USA, which means that the business will be run by administrators in a way that protects the company from market forces for a limited period of time. The idea is to give them a last chance to avoid bankruptcy.
