that's obviously on a active circuit. The Bill Lawrence link looks interesting. He's also a legend and I'm an idiot so don't listen to me. The G&L OMG switch is actually series mode - so naturally way louder with more bass and treble - and then using a capacitor to take off the treble - leaving the massive bottom end to bother the PA! If I had known now what I know now I would have bought a HPF to take off the subs and kept that L1000

it's not difficult to do on a circuit, depending on how it's powered there will be a resistor to ground before the first input stage, change that and it changes the input resistance. something like this before the first IC ... gives you three difference impedances. (R1 and R27, and R2 and R26, can be combined - I just split them into two to take advantage of JLCPCB's cheaper SMD reisistors) So in this case 20M with switch in middle or 3.33M or 1.4M in left or right positions... (except there's other things going on in this circuit so it will end up 10M, 1.67M and 700k )

It's been decades since I've last seen *anything* Selmer in such a nice shape... That amp is well-worth repairing, IMO. Jack Bruce used one of these on early Cream recordings from what I can recall. I'd leave the cabinets "as found" since I doubt that a proper re-cone kit is available for either of those speakers. Let the next owner decide what they want to do with them... And yes, The Music Locker would be the place that I'd be seeking advice from if I wanted tp sell a somewhat unusual vintage amp in the UK... My $0.02 only... Good luck.

You still have time to invest in a life-size cut-out of three humans and a cat. Prop this up in front of you, on stage; you'll not see the other folk there, just your familiar audience. ... No, seriously, all the tips above work a treat, so you'll be fine. Beware, of course. You may find that you enjoy it all so much you'll want to play 'live', in public, more and more. In that case, start a band.

Hmm, the Trace Bag is OK for carrying the amp but it doesnt do much in terms of protection, do let us know how you find the Gator ........

Great looking set of Selmers, including covers! If you need any advice or want to consider valuation / selling it all I would recommend contacting Jono at The Music Locker in Derby. I have no affiliation with him at all, but sold some old cabinets to him a while ago and found him helpful and fair. Tel 07970061897. http://[email protected]

A Trombonist friend of mine had some great comedy business cards in the 90s. They said something like; "Rich Thomas, Test Rockets Flown, Battles Fought, Races Won, Virgins Enlightened, Bars Quaffed Dry, & All Round Good Guy!"

Recently I ordered some cards from Printed.com I needed quickly. Pricing looked good so I went throught the process of artwork / create account / upload / payment details etc etc. Got to the very end and the price for 250 had gone up from £21 to £30 🤔 I hadn't realised the initial price was ex-VAT (which was also added to the shipping cost) No idea on the quality of them as they havent arrived yet.

I bought a pedal from Si, it arrived about 22 hours after I paid for it, must be a record! Fantastically well packed too. Unsurprisingly given his contributions to the forum Si is a great guy to deal with, thank you!

Never mind the guitar, what about that bloody case? Marvellous! 🤣 Actually Gardner Houlgate auction house had one of these up for sale a while back. It went for £500 including the wooden case like yours. It’s a mid 70’s Antoria Gemini-4 Model 2407 double neck. Strat / Jazz bass with rosewood fingerboards, Made in Japan.

Second gig in two nights, this time a solo acoustic guitar/vocal job at the Organ Grinder in Loughborough. First outing for my 1999 Simon and Patrick SP6 into which I’ve taped a Seymour Duncan Woody pickup. Over the last few months I’ve eradicated various gremlins from my rig (noisy power supplies, dirty pots, annoying buzzes etc) and I have to say tonight felt like the best guitar sound I’ve had on stage. Full and loud without being harsh, and lots of dynamics. It was cooking. It’s a really loud resonant acoustic guitar even unplugged, so being hunched over it inches away from chiming, ringing notes and broingy, bitey chords was a delightful experience. Flask of earl grey carried my voice through the gig (just about). Which also gave me the chance to tone down the volume, swap pick for finger style and explore some softer singing (essentially to keep my voice intact for longer). Some good results from doing that actually - will try to remember for next time. For now, bed.

I use a mob called Banana Print. You can design your own and save it. They look great, very good prices and super fast delivery. Ordered Sunday and delivered Wednesday.

Yes- Antoria was a brand name and the guitars were made alongside the Ibanez branded guitars at the time. They even shared the same model numbers. I have an Antoria copy of the Gibson 175 arch top guitar and the label inside the body is an Ibanez one. Thick black of the sunburst over the body’s cutouts suggest that the body will be a blackboard construction with a core of mahogany blocks sandwiched between the lighter alder looking top and back. Should be a nice instrument.

If you spend a lot of time lugging an upright bass about on foot or on public transport it’s the best £200 you could possibly spend. If my one broke tomorrow I’d be straight online buying another one. Had mine for about 4 or 5 years and wouldn’t be without it.

Ask away. I’ve been playing Steinbergers regularly since the early 80s.

@woodyratm Ah yes, I saw that after I'd asked the question, which then made sense. 👍

£200 ! I'll stick with my £15 quid used golf bag trolley.

Do some nice calming breaths to relax - deep and slow nose inhale as you count to four, hold momentarily, then mouth exhale for four. That will help you get started. Also, hydrate. This will help you avoid cramping up. Practice your song A LOT. Put the time in so at least you won't be worrying about that. It doesn't really matter if you make a mistake anyway. Everyone makes them. Remember, everyone there will be right behind you mate. For sure. So don't worry about them either. Just go out there and enjoy giving it your best shot. Best wishes to all.

You need to play like Cronos from Venom - make a total bloody racket and mainly use that fretless upper register for slides and making various ungodly noises
