  1. Past hour
  2. I'll have the Valeton thingy
  3. I do simple routs like this with forstner bits and chisels – I could easily adapt one of my existing humbucker cavity drill templates if you want to go down that route. Just give me the dimensions.
  4. Every time I see this I have to quickly close down my browser. 🥵
  5. Beautiful bass!!
  6. Price dropped to £1950 🎸
  7. We played O'Neils in Bristol a while back. We thought we did ok. We asked how it went and for a rebooking. "yeah, the set list was great, but you weren't loud enough". We haven't been asked back. Bearing in mind that we have a 3k rig, in a smallish venue, and every time I've seen a band in there I've had to leave because my ears were bleeding. Seriously, if it was a work environment with HSE, you only be able to play for 15 mins.
  8. Dr Peppers lonely hearts club band - Bheetels
  9. Great flanger, marketed as a flanger for people that don't like flangers. By this, it's fair to say that it doesn't go into the largely unusable jet engine crazy tones and stays more subtle, nailing the flanging shimmers you hear on stuff like Tool's 46&2. It's versatile, and well loved by bass players thanks to it having a blend so there is zero low end loss. In great condition. No box, but will be well packaged. Asking £130 posted in the UK. Collection welcomed in Derby for those who don't trust the postman.
  10. Bri bought my 51 - As always, an absolute pleasure. Enjoy x
  11. The Fender Standrds sit in a odd niche if you look at them as part of the overall guitar market rather than as part of the Squire/Fender range. Put bluntly there are better specced guitars from the likes of Sire, Ibanez and others in that £500 bracket and the Standards themselves are, with the most generous interpretation, at best a step sideways from the Squire CVs, rather than a step up.
  12. Yep. That was one of various reasons why the band didn't last much longer after that. I know a drummer and vocalist who would 🥴
  13. Covers on a Precision look cool, and I never found that they got in the way - I just don't currently have a suitable bass to put them on. I can imagine the Jazz ones could be annoying due to the much larger footprint of the bridge cover though.
  14. Wish I had known about this before embarrassing myself with my backwoods, attacked with an axe effort! The MDF option is very reasonably priced! I've fired them off a message to see if they do custom orders...
  15. It's also a really neat way of stopping intentional damping.
  16. How about zip-lock bags (as used for food to put in the freezer...)..? Keeps everything together and dust-free. Re-usable, too, if ever you put the pieces back on the bass.
  17. Lovely. A bump for this beauty and a trade offer (I know it says no trades, sorry) for a Dingwall Super P made in Canada.
  18. They're basically metallic talent inhibitors. We can't get to the sweet spot or move around the pickups for different sounds with them on. Marcus Miller uses the neck pickup cover as a wrist rest, but I'm sure it still gets in the way. I'm sure it was a great idea in the 1950s/60s to add them and have mute pads attached inside the bridge cover, but techniques have moved on in the ensuing 75 years - unless you're looking for the Laura Lee style consistency... I'm sorry, I fell asleep there for a moment.
  19. Thanks for the insight. I've also tried the DOD and didn't like it at all compared to the Moog.
  20. Okay let me know. Take care Terry
  21. The ashtray doesn't bother me really. I've left it on my P. The pickup cover I have no use for whatsoever....and as for the screws, you need a check up if you leave them in.
  22. thanks mate, it works very well for the function gigs that I do. We are ampless and most of the time I bring 2 basses (fretted/fretless) or a bass and a synthbass so the switcher is so handy. 3 out of 4 gigs this board will be my choice. this one takes care of the 1 out of 4. Sounds very nice but heavy and a bit risky for beer spills. 😆
  23. Today
  24. And literally no one has said why we take them off! Are we just sheep? I saw someone recently rest their palm on the pup cover while they slapped. Seemed a neat way to avoid damping the strings accidentally?
  25. Thank you for your thoughts. I did think about the weight saving for the boat anchor of a P bass in question. But then decided I was a bit of a muppet thinking it would make a difference. Any thoughts on the type of tape to use? I don’t want to ruin the chrome, but I also don’t want the tape failing over time and losing the screws 🤷‍♀️.
  26. And Earl's laugh!!⁹
  27. I'm sure they do their checks, but makes you wonder why someone who made the decision to purchase such a niche bass would decide to part with it via CC? I guess there are all sorts of scenarios which could explain it....
