  1. Past hour
  2. Years ago I was front man and guitarist in a busy rock covers band and our bass player was "quite the character". Though his drunken antics, during the break after the first set, he was banned by the landlord and escorted off the premises by a bouncer. I had to negotiate with the landlord to get him back so he could finish the gig. Conditions were that he had to ditch his stash and could only have a soft drink for the rest of the night and that unless we replaced him, we'd never play that pub or the other one they owned again. We never again played that venue (or the other one they owned) with that line up, but every cloud... The other guitarist and I put together a two hour acoustic set of material and ended up getting as many gigs as the full band. The next stage after this when putting together the next full band was me deciding to take on bass duties full time, which led me to finding BassWorld and the rest is history.
  3. End result. I'm using a very low latency Giga Pro (by "the t.bone", a rebadged Mi-Pro) for my wireless bass signal with the WP-12 getting full stereo IEM from the band mix or playalongs and I can't hear any latency, or maybe I've just got used to it! Design (using Google drawings). I played recent gigs with the WP-12 IEM system and MA400 headphone amp on a tray, but thought it would be neat to get them all onto a compact, fully cableless pedalboard (battery power to 9V and 12V effects and units, 5V USB wireless everywhere except band IEM mixer and FOH. It's a good inexpensive dabble into wireless and stereo IEMs. I'll be interested to hear how you use yours, pros and cons etc.
  4. Hi there ! Would be super interested for my 79'sabre ( also 38mm nut width !) Can it be made for the 3 bolt design of the older MMs ?
  5. Beautiful bass!!
  6. Price dropped to £1950 🎸
  7. Laser engravers are stunning bits of kit. And this is a stunning use of a laser engraver. 5 gold stars and smiley face - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  8. Actually, I believe there is only one left alive (Otis Williams), so my comment in the singular was grammatically correct!
  9. Last 2 gigs I've used the stereo set up but I've not yet balanced the volumes 100% never mind the stereo image. However I'm confident it'll work for me and be an improvement.
  10. Sadly for some of us the 'sound' isn't even a factor! I've tried the 10s and 16s and the physical size and shape don't work for me/my ear; they are uncomfortable and/or no good for getting a good seal (regardless of buds used). This isn't just an isolated issue, I know of at least 2 other local musicians who have sacked off the KZs in favour of units that are smaller which give a better seal. I get that if the 10s fit you then the 16's may well sound better... but they need to be a good fit for the user.
  11. I agree - I think they look daft. I suppose it makes it easier to buy stock for building 4/5/6-string models, but it doesn't seem to be reflected in a price reduction. The worst example was Status Graphite basses - I just don't like their more recent models.
  12. Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas
  13. Yes, it's definitely got all the right ingredients - alder/maple construction, Nitro-Cellulose finish [to allow it to breathe/speak] & Pure Vintage 64 pickups. It's got that rich early 60's Jazz Bass sound with enough top end sparkle, but not over the top. As for the Road Worn finish, the body really does look like it's been kicked around a car park by a bunch of Mexicans on their lunch break. 🤣 The pattern of wear seems to match Flea's original 61 very well. This one is a 2019 bass, so I'd imagine they've gotten pretty good at the process since the original RW instruments were launched ten years earlier in 2009.
  14. Individual string bridges - I can understand their use on fanned fret basses, but they just look wrong when the frets aren't fanned. And even the most skilled luthier can't seem to make them line up properly:
  15. There was 2 I vaguely remember in Leytonstone high road, Freedman’s and Holiday Music, would’ve been around 78/80, I was having bass lessons as a teen and it was probably the first place I saw a fender jazz for sale but couldn’t afford anything like that then, I’ve made up for it since 😁, I found one pic but nothing for freedman’s
  16. Hi il take this if you still have them please
  17. Mev Taylor's Music in Edinburgh. Always something of interest there. The original Live Music shop in Nicolson Street - 2nd hand heaven. Really not much happening in Edinburgh and its environs nowadays re music shops. GG is about it.
  18. I'd snap this up but my finances are not so healthy these days.
  19. The neck is narrowish near the headstock. Bit jazz bass style. Yes, great tonal options and punchy.
  20. Same for me really... Although, back in the 80's, for me, it was mainly the Bass Centre in Wapping. Apart from buying nearly all my gear from there (lots of it - especially strings), I found it to be a good socialising place. Well, that and the pub around the corner that we all used to visit. I lived just the other side of the river near Tower Bridge, so it was an easy walk for me.
  21. Thanks Bernie, hope your enjoying the bass, and of course all is well with you.Take care.
  22. When I was visiting Matamp years ago, they had a one-off 400w Matamp that was commissioned by Julian Cope for live work. That was the first time I found out that he was a bassist.
  23. Fat Beams will retain the feel of your round core Sunbeams and give you more of the sound you’re after. I loved them on my Fender Jazz Bass.
  24. Lads if you're using KZ then get on the AS16 Pros. Sound absolute perfect for me as a singing bassist and only £70.
  25. Oi you young whipper snaper! Some respect for your olders and betters...
  26. 34‘Scale, but a 34’ scale Adamovic plays and feels like 33‘
