  1. Past hour
  2. Barefaced One Ten Cab 200 watt 8 ohms. Excellent condition with the usual tolex lift at the back. A nice loud little cab, very light and perfect for small gigs and rehearsals. Pickup preferred but I could arrange post in the UK.

  3. Chris P Trousers!
  4. What's your take on introducing relatives of Site Administrators? Asking for a friend ...
  5. 1st actual gig with the 'A little more Gilmour' band https://alittlemoregilmour.com went well, I think....
  6. I don't see the point of introducing band members. As a punter, I don't care that Bill is on drums unless its Bill Ward. No one in the audience is paying attention to the introductions or is interested.
  7. Mine had tail lift and I much prefer heavy strings so something had to be done. I figured as the bridge was 'knackered' and would need replacing to use heavy strings then there was no harm in butchering it. I drilled two holes through the big rear flat area (OK slightly curved for the pendants 😉), countersunk them and put a pair of stainless steel screws through and pulled the tail down flush. It's been perfect for five years now. Rickenbacker started doing this themselves I believe, although somewhat more elegantly.
  8. I like my Two Notes Revolt for this. Its a three channel, valve driven preamp pedal plus its got an effects loop so you can set it up with your effects before or after the preamp and the three channels give clean, dirty or really dirty options.
  9. One thing I have noticed about G&L's recent strategy is that they reserved a lot of the really good stuff for one retailer - Sweetwater. There were lots of limited edition Tributes (including some lovely black'n'maple L2000/L2500s with blocks) and various nice custom shop one-offs with lovely finishes and interesting pickup combinations - there's a stunning P/MFD L2000 with a blackburst finish up there right now. By effectively only having one retail outlet for all their good stuff, they were massively shooting themselves in the foot.
  10. The authority of that OMG setting on a fallout / L1000 is incredible, like the best active circuit ( that's passive) I'd want. A really hi-fi humbucker without phase cancellation in that setting. The P bass I was using was lovely but in the band mix the Fallout has all the clarity but seems to have an extra octave of depth. Subjective and hard to explain.
  11. That was when I still lived at home. Who was your aunt?
  12. Yes, I realise all of that. But you'll be the first to admit you'd rather see a genuine TRC on a faker rather than a Rickenbacker one. As it is definitely a Matsumoku build and all the information I have is that it was in originally branded Aria, and I have a Rickenbacker and Rickenbastard TRC to hand, what TRC would you opt for? There's a only one of those four that it could possibly left the factory with, or would you choose a different brand name that Matsumoku built for completely randomly. Leaving it off is not a an option either for aesthetic reasons. I completely understand that a brand name on most Japanese fakers is irrelevant as all you can be sure of, once the TRC is gone, is which factory made it but I've gotta to pick something.
  13. 500W is a bigger number than 300, that’s a fact. However, it’s only about 10% louder, through the same cab (assuming it can handle the power), as volume is logarithmic. So lots more power isn’t the whole story. But, as you say, the efficiency of the cab (and how many) are significant and it doesn’t matter anyway if your ears are already bleeding.
  14. Already bought Phil, and with my eyes wide open. If I've screwed up then at least I can't lose too much money on a £200 sub. 😉 We've used the CP8s at The Load Of Hay once already and it's pretty clear that they're on the lightweight side ... not a criticism, just recognition that we're deliberately 'mis-using' them. We have a gig next weekend at a much larger pub but one where the space allotted to the band is about as big as your dining table, so I really wanted to get the sub on board in time for that gig.
  15. Hi what is the signature on the back ? Also where are you based?
  16. A good bass is a good bass, expensive or not so expensive. It's just that if a brand loses it's aspirational dimension then it has no direction. It becomes like trying to sell replica kits for a mid-table Sunday League football team. Why would people want them? G&L is such a loss to the market because they have unique features and sounds that no one else has to offer. The L1000 and L2000 are inimitable, nothing else sounds like them.
  17. I can see that’s a faker from the one photo, without taking the TRC off. The faker truss-rods had different adjusters, so having two wasn’t necessarily the tell anyway.
  18. Back in the 80’s and 90’s when I used to sign the receipt for the gig money at the end of the night, I used a different stage name for every signature 🤔
  19. Sorry for persisting, but Aria was one of several brands produced at the Matsumoku factory and without the original, sellers often choose the most advantageous brand to go with when offering on the item without specific bonafides. It’s especially prevalent with Grecos.
  20. Have you already bought? If so it's too late but looking at this makes me ask the question is a cheap 10" speaker actually going to be 'better' than the two good quality 8's you have in the QSC's? My thinking is that this cab is made of MDF which is excellent for cabs but just about the heaviest material you could use so that it means the speaker has a reasonably lightweight magnet. To get decent efficiency and low frequency extension you kind of need a big magnet. I haven't got time at the moment but could look at the QSC's to see if they might not do the job alone without the subs. I've used them at open mics for bass and been surprised at how capable they are. My thinking is that these tiny pubs (and I have my own in mind, The Green Dragon) often are pretty awful spaces and deep bass is unwanted. Cramped spaces means you are up against walls and low ceilings which reinforce the bass as well as turning it to mush. Basically I can put in some specs for a decent 8 and a cheap 10 into winISD and speculate upon which might do best with bass. If you've already bought then just trying them out would be better of course.
  21. Mine is Mick St Michael, a pseudonym I invented in 1984 when editing a short lived music paper, Soundcheck. It inflated the number of writers under my control! Alvin Stardust once bought me a coffee. Amazingly, that was what appeared on his Mastercard rather than Bernard Jewry…
  22. The Greco & Fernandes Ric clones have, their name in the Rickenbacker style script. The one annoying thing that the clones do as good as the real 4001 & 4003 basses, is the dreaded tail lift.
  23. Yup. To avoid identity theft. But also Macdaddy sounds more showbiz than my real name which is Brett Starshine.
  24. Nash JB-63 - £1800 ash body Natural finish Light aged Maple neck Maple fingerboard Lollar pickups Passive electronics Hardcase included Bought from Bass Direct in 2022. Mint condition, only left the house a couple of the times - studio use only.
