  1. Past hour
  2. Completely agree.
  3. Hi all, I had a thought (steady!) at rehearsal tonight and now I can't stop thinking it. I usually play through a David Eden amp and I really like it, but apropos of nothing, I've used my Elf the last two weeks. Now, at present there's just me and my mate on guitar, so volume's not been an issue when using my 4ohm 2x15 cab, but I think adding a drummer, possibly another guitarist and at least two vocals might be a bit more than the wee Elf can cope with in the volume stakes. So, here's the thing - do/did Trace make anything that sounds similar (because I love the toanz) but that will kick out about 500w into that same 4ohm cab? At the moment it looks like the Elf and the TE-1200 are their only offerings. Any thoughts etc gratefully received. Cheers, JRK
  4. Aah yeah, great point - thanks!
  5. I have friend who was a Bbc engineer and is also a bassist. He says the same thing about the shortage of engineers with live music experience within the BBC.
  6. Marvellous...It's been a while since I listened to that gem!! Not everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it has everything. A killer groove, surrounded by hooky melodies and tight harmonies. And of course, top playing with a super feel from all. I think that's Hailey Niswanger, who usually plays Tenor, Alto and Soprano, but plays some of the Kinga Glyk gig on a Roland Aerophone (I think that's what it is or was announced as). There are two Synths in the band (or there was) playing similar sounds, so yeah, it can sound a bit boring and does sound a bit pedestrian note wise. Maybe she hasn't been playing it long? Certainly not as exciting, moving, or a big wow moment like when Michael Brecker played 'In a Sentimental Mood' with his EWI, accompanied by Mike Mainieri, leading into 'Trains', live in Tokyo back in the day. But then again, those guys were another level of musicianship, so maybe I'm being a tad unfair comparing. Just my opinion, of course. But back on track with the OP... yeah, I think Kinga plays great and will be worth the admission fee at Ronnie Scott's.
  7. It sounds like you can send just dry bass into it so no reason why the filter can’t be used on that. (There’s an explicit option for the dry to either go through the filter or to bypass it.)
  8. This is a rare punchy beast, I haven't found another like it. Rosewood fretboard with pearly block inlays, and the all important go faster stripes for those trickier licks 😂 30" Short scale, made in Japan in 2014. It's effectively a very high quality, active Mustang variant. The pickups are blades, very responsive and precise. Featuring the John East jazz preamp, so it has full passive control, or epic active. It's had a full luthier set up, action is low and intonation is spot on. In excellent all round condition. Comes with Atelier short gjgbag. Currently wearing La Bella Deep Talkin strings. Can courier at cost. Trade for Sandberg VS4 or Central, maybe!
  9. Yep, a bass purchase for me (by me) has to be something I really want these days, because I need to factor in the cost of the LEGO set too. Mark
  10. I have just discovered that Ca7triel and Paco Amoroso were playing. No iPlayer action so watch this. They are LAYING it down.
  11. I notice that there is some similar verb usage going on here. I highlighted it for you
  12. Anyone know if it can do a clean envelope filter in the same way that it can do a clean octave?
  13. Pity, you could point out that you’d then have an eternally-resetting gear acquisition counter 👍 think Benjamin button
  14. You’re right - but I think it’s the willingness to sacrifice and offload things that’s my win here in winterfell. Partner knows that I recently sold something that I’ve wanted since I was 15 when we had an unexpected financial dry period a while back (two actually, thinking about it) so she knows I only buy used, at a good price, and that I’ll liquidate anything immediately to feed the kids. Plus im careful what I buy anyway
  15. And so they should, and they deserve every happy second of it. I'd like to think they could find good partners to work with for the continuation of the Status brand though. Hiscox Cases has just been given a new lease of life, and I'd like to see the same for Status.
  16. Oooh! I'm not a big effects user when it comes to bass but that sounds very tempting.
  17. Interesting experience. Two questions, did you use the built-in presets on each channel, and second question, do you normally use a digital or analogue desk? My experience is that you need to use the channel presets to get the best out of the flow8, and that digital desks can sound very dry compared to an old school analogue desk like the Mackie.
  18. Fender Tone Stack, no? Like an Alembic Preamp. But with rocket power bolted on.
  19. Today
  20. SX do a very nice looking 30” P bass copy. Looks the part but can’t comment on the sound or quality of them.
  21. Time To Rock Festival in Sweden with Stray on Saturday. Got a great slot at 8.30pm!
  22. In the 70s things came with fag packet foil ready fitted 🤣
  23. I just turned down a free Stevie Wonder ticket 😭 I will be out in the heat all day and I know I won't be up to standing in a castle all night, no matter how good the gig.
  24. Last time I visited this thread it was only 2 pages long 😂 Not wanting to read 18 pages of posts I'll just go ahead and relate to you my 2025 Glastonbury experience … I started watching Neil Young on the BBC broadcast, the sound was so terrible I made it through maybe 3 or 4 songs before turning over to watch the Jeff Beck performance at Ronnie Scott's. I'd never actually seen this performance and loved every moment of it - apart from the many, many advert breaks - but what a great set. Mark
  25. Festival talk has reminded me we once got a dodgy golf cart with a blown fuse. We bodged it with the foil bit out of a fag packet and it ran like a champ for a week. The following year, same festival, I got a suspiciously familiar golf cart. Opened up the fuse box out of curiosity and found that ciggy foil is much more durable than expected, or possibly that a series of unlucky crews were inspired by our initial bodge. At least it wasn't a nail this time.
