  2. Inside Out - Britney Spears
  3. The AC 30 is rated 30W at just before onset of clipping. The comparable Marshall 100W amps, rated flat out, are not quite as loud. There's a well-known video out there that proves it.
  4. Thanks guys I got another message from Martyn and he's actually been asked by someone else to do another run so hopefully he will be in touch soon when they come in!
  5. Imgur not playing ball with these new laws makes browsing old threads much less useful...

  6. Yes I was a bit disappointed too hoping some Nordy's would drop straight in but it will obviously need some pickguard fettling. I'll take it off tomorrow and post a pic of what's underneath.
  7. I have all my instruments insured, once it gets to it's new home safely, I remove it from the policy
  8. FYI - I have two basses up for sale right now 1991 SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB310 with Glockenklang preamp - https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/519129-1991-sgc-nanyo-bass-collection-sb310-i-think-with-glockenklang-preamp/ 2005 Epiphone Embassy Special IV with Entwistle neodymium pickup - https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/519069-2005-epiphone-embassy-special-iv/ If anyone is interested in either of these beasties and wants me to take it down to the bash, PM me.
  9. Upside Down - Diana Ross
  10. Everyone knows what these wee beasties are - future classic I reckon, but it's just not for me. Honestly, it's too lightweight for me, but that'll please some folk around here. It's 3.4kg/7.5lbs according to the bathroom scales. This one is in fair condition, some wear and tear in the shape of dings and buckle rash in the back, better round the front. All original hardware (bridge and Gotoh tuners) with the original SGC pickups (PJ) but inside is a Glockenklang 2 band EQ, meaning it is switchable passive/active (push/pull volume pot) and retains a passive tone control in passive mode (treble pot). Best of both worlds! Full disclosure - there's a chrome bridge intonation screw in there which should be black - when I acquired it there was a screw in there which did work, but the head was too big and it stuck out the back of the bridge. I found a replacement screw which did fit in the bridge properly, but couldn't find a black one. You can't really see it unless you go looking - the black spring does disguise it somewhat, but I don't want anyone to have a gotcha moment. Anyway, it's a fine wee bass with some wear and tear, and pretty lightweight which might suit some folk, just not me. Recently restrung with a fresh set of D'addario XL nickel rounds 45-105. Looking for £200 for it. Prefer local sale (Aberdeen) but will post at buyer's expense if needed.
  11. Aye that was me 🙂 As for the Peavey BXP models from Samick Indonesia, cracking basses. I still have fond memories of an Indo Darkwood 5'er 👍
  12. I Can’t Tell The Bottom From The Top - The Hollies
  13. I had the same issue with my Studiologic SL88 GT MK2 MIDI controller keyboard connected to an iPad, it only worked with the official Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter... https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/mw5m3zm/a/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter There is the same adapter for Lightning should you need this version.
  14. When I was in my first band playing our own songs, the main writer was the drummer. He was very good, but had limited bass and guitar skills. He'd bring chords and rough lyrics to a rehearsal and we'd set off from there. I was the guitarist at the time so we'd work together (the drummer was my best mate from school so we were on the same wavelength) but my main contributions were riffs and middle eights. If I wrote a song on my own, it was usually reasonably complete and, without the influence of others, not the sort of song the band was looking for. The other guys would also write now and again and more than once we jammed new songs pretty much from scratch in rehearsals. The singer was usually responsible for the final lyrics. I write my own songs now but I do miss the collaborative process and it tends to take a lot longer for me to finish a song. I often find myself with a form of writer's block which a second opinion would usually overcome. We tried remote writing during lockdown but the spontaneity wasn't there.
  15. I think you're right... PM'd! (PM'd the seller, not you)
  16. Today
  17. See pic, 4.3kg on my scales. I’ll be in Bicester next Sunday evening Monday if that’s of any help?
  18. Do you mean the USA made ones? I know those and the original Rob DeLeo signature model which active emg’s were as they had ash bodies I believe. this one is very manageable, I’ll have to get the scales on it but I wouldn’t say it is heavy at all.
  19. Thanks again — I'll get a set ordered.
  20. Regarding boutique P basses, I think the law of diminishing returns is particularly pertinent. Most bang for your buck is to be had at around the USA Fender price point, in my opinion. That is not to say that less expensive versions are not worthwhile. A £5000 Olinto ,on the other hand, might be somebody's forever bass, I'm not putting it down, but despite never having played one myself I would wager that it sounds and feels like...a P Bass. Probably a very good one but essentially still a P Bass. As I've previously mentioned in other threads, there's a certain point with vintage and boutique traditional Fender-style basses where what your paying for is magic realism, not anything tangible or actually necessary in a practical sense.
  21. I have one from the early 90's. I am quite a light guitarist and do not actually play much acoustic. So it lasted very well. Then one of my son's friends picked it up when they were rehearsing here. The finish got battered pretty quickly. I feel your pain.
  22. I've pretty much no experience with valve amps, but I think they'd often quote rated power at 10% (or sometimes, I think I've heard, 3%) the reason being that their THD is in excess of 0.1% even when they're not clipping. In the context of valve amps, the power rating has even less bearing on the actual volume - as the mighty AC30 attests!
  23. Yeah, I don’t know how many there are… but not many!
