RichT started following NBD: 1995 Stingray + mods reversal, now with Aguilar AG 4M reinstalled.

That's beautiful! My Vox Starstreams have that same AG-4M and OBP-2 combo. Has a great range of usable tones, and so easy to get a good sound out of it. Sounds like your 'blend' mod is effectively giving you single coil options - that's a feature on the short scale Rays! It would be right that you'd get a little bit of a scoop in the centre with both coils running together, same as any bass with 2 pickups running together. The particular placement and proximity of the 2 coils running in parallel on a Ray gives it the signature MM sound. Oh and side jack every time. I know you started by saying you wanted it close to stock as possible, but IMO you've ended up with some great mods to that bass.
-
If you even try that Sonuus (B2M), buy a piccolo set, too. Prepare yourself to play everything again and again to get something reasonable out of the MIDI rig. The best solution is to use a keytar, MISA Tri-Bass, Industrial Radio (split fret) bass or similar. Bass is so slow in frequency to MIDI conversion.

Agree with al of that, pretty sure it's a pic, although he might be mixing in other styles also 👍

Isn’t it just! Genuinely one of my favourite bass parts to listen to (and play along to). Some lovely bits down the low end, some lovely bits up the high end. Melodic motifs, a few double stops and everything he does is sympathetic/adds to the track. But the killer thing for me, amongst the terrific playing/part, is the space he leaves. It really makes it. The tone/sound has often baffled me. I always assume it’s played finger style, but at times, when I listen to it, it sounds like it could be a pick. I’ve spent way too much time over the years pondering this!

Interesting. Have you routed the shape of a scratchplate into a solid top or does it detach?

What can you say about this combination...... its industry standard.... tried and tested and used by so many pros. Amp and cab in good condition and working order. Covers and leads inc. Collection only, alas due to size and weight. I also have a second SL112 cab if yo are interested. Full rig would be 1395.00. Not prepared to sell amp separately at this point.

My Sandberg Electra TT4 Jazz has upgraded pickups and pre-amp (done by a previous owner) - and its battery compartment is roughly behind the control panel. But every pic I see of the current TT4 has the battery compartment behind the lower horn. Do you think mine is an early model, or was it re-jigged when installing the new pre-amp?

…do they work ?? I stumbled upon various basses over the last few days. This can be dangerous, as we know. I looked at the Roland G77B with its trimmings . I decided against it for now, due to technology advancing and the chance of things going wrong and difficult to get fixed. I do have a few synths at home . I just ordered a Roland Boutique JP-X8 . A condensed version of the JX-08 which has all the sounds on the Roland Bass setup.Allegedly. This got me wondering if a Sonuus G2M would work if I used this to plug my bass into the Roland Boutique Synth! I probably won’t bother with it , but if someone tells me it works then I’ll have to get one ..

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaints
Rich replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion
ABOUT BLOODY TIME. But yes, too late for many fine venues. RIP The Point, Cardiff. There are only a few lower forms of life than someone who moves in near an established music venue, knowing full well that it's there, and then complains about it to the extent that it is forced to close. Scumbags. I hope their houses get infestations of mountain-beaver fleas. -
Busy day yesterday. We had the first gig from 2-3 at an outdoor 'festival' like thing in dorset, that we had done 3 years in a row. They had this thing where there were electric bands on the truck in the garden and acoustic bands in the teepee thing next to it between, so 1 hour for each - but it was exactly 1 hour for each, so you got on the stage, set up, plugged in, they did a line check and then you waited for your time to go and there was no gap, so obviously sound wasn't good on stage, and not so great outside as there was no time to setup. But it went down ok - it was raining a little when we were setting up, but by the time we played it was very sunny and well attended. All in all there was a nice atmosphere there and it was a good afternoon. I would have stayed longer but in the evening we had to be back nearer home for a wedding. The wedding we got to at 6 but they were doing speeches so we had to wait outside and not make noise. We waited for a while, they had finished the speeches but the staff wanted to move all the tables, we waited another half an hour, so finally it was closer to 7 by the time we set up to be ready by 8, for some reason it took a while to get ready as everyone was in each others way. Did the first hour, there was noone in the building, they were all outside in the sun, which sort of makes sense, way of weddings. Then it was time for food so everyone came back in and I put music on on the ipad, we went back on at half 9 to play to 11:15, the guitarist was very grumpy to go past 11. But the second half was dancing all the way through and we went down a storm so that was good. We couldn't play the last encore as it was 11:16 so the guitarist wouldn't play, and he had to be home in 5 minutes after that, so he went, but the singer stayed to help me with the PA Very profitable day all in all and got all the gigs for the weekend over and done with in a day

For sale, my mint condition X32 Producer. Just under 2 years old and bought by me from Andertons, it's been flight cased from new. I used it at home to learn digital desks and then did a few rehearsals plus about 10 gigs before I upgraded to a bigger desk. I've kept it as a backup, but am now looking to upgrade my main desk again, and therefore this is surplus to requirements. All faders, encoders and buttons, ins and outs working perfectly. Will be restored to factory settings before it goes, and am more than happy to spend some time with the buyer to show them how it all works if needed. It's a great first desk if upgrading from analogue and a nice compact size for gigging, but also ideal for a home studio setup, or for an IEM rig. It can be rack mounted and the rack ears will be included. All the specs are available on the Behringer website, but this has 16 local ins, 8 outs plus 8 aux ins/outs. Can be expanded to 32in/16 outs with a behringer stage box (S16 or SD16) and you can record multitracks to a DAW via the 32 channel interface. Priced to sell at £750, which is a good saving on new with the flight case which was £200 on its own. Collection from Chelmsford, or will drive a reasonable distance for a meet up. Payment via cash or BACS. Please DM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for all the help Ir has swing me away from the shoe box size boxes with tiny speakers @Hellzero your input is much appreciated The SWR is a nice option but lacks aux in, so I will be having a bid on the the TC combo on eBay
