Steve Harris Maiden 50th anniversary pbass
mattbass6 replied to christhammer666's topic in Bass Guitars
He’s had it for decades. It’s a 1980’s refinished by a guy called Vic Vella who worked for Maiden in the early days and then went on to work for Steve. It’s a beautiful bass. -

I like it. It's like what you see when you take the cover off of a Japanese motorcycle cylinder head.

He’s been using that one with bl for a good few years. I first remember seeing him use it in 2015 iirc -

Just sold my Warwick Star Bass to Baz, lovely chap, can talk bass for hours and hours (like the rest of us). Great coms, turned up when he said he would, ace basschatter. Would have zero qualms about dealing with him again. 👊🏻

Apart from all the usual suspects mentioned, there is Joey Defranceso, who unfortunately passed away a couple of years back aged 51. A multi instrumentalist and superb musician. His Hammond playing is terrific with amazing Bass pedal playing. There is plenty on YouTube and definitely worthy of a mention on the OP's list:

Possibly. There is a certain aspirational lifestyle that involves a kind of self consciously cool parody persona that only resonates with certain people IMO. It’s not particularly subtle or requiring much in the way of imagination but does seem to require a lot of money and effort.

Where'd you find it and how much was it Andy, if that's not too personal a question!? My Thomann order status still says 3-4 weeks (I paid for mine on 12th October) as it has been for over a month and when I chatted with them today they now pushed out the "we get stock" to 9th of Jan. Well it was Nov, then early Dec, then late Dec. How long is a piece of string with these guys. So I googled the pedal out of desperation and it said the usual, that these pedals were available from multiple UK vendors, so I clicked on a few (to find out they haven't got any), then tried one more for luck and Bingo! The magic words "In stock" appeared (it feels odd to be excited by those two words, but it's been a long wait and rigmarole). A quick phone call to them confirmed the good news and they had my order in a few mins. What surprised me is that Thomann with all their pull couldn't get any or enough (they assured me, that only those presold to customers before me had gone out in the past two months, so at least their queing system is working, just maybe too many people bought in hope there) whereas Bass Direct said they got 30 of them recently. It's a lot of money for a single pedal though and new territory for me (as I've gone only for inexpensive multipedals before, Zoom B3 and Valeton GP-5).

Is it just me or is this comically large?? I will do a test fit/string up but I can see a router recessing job in my future

Those dimensions give an approximate volume of 50L per driver with 55-60 Hz tuning, so the tuning is too high and the box is too big. A dividing shelf doesn't do anything other than to add bracing to the panels that it connects. You should have bracing, but as far as that's concerned a shelf is one of the least effective methods.

Stingray Classic Bass in rare Lake Tahoe Blue which is very similar to Lake Placid Blue with birdseye maple fretboard and neck from 2011. The body is made of ash and it’s general condition is 9/10 for it’s age with a small mark on the front of the bass (see photos) and the usual swirls on the pickguard, weight is 4.6kg. Also comes with a standard Musicman hardcase. Price £1,850 including full insured shipping. Also happy for anyone to come around and play it in my studio in Coalisland. Sale available to people living in Northern Ireland and UK mainland only. I have also advertised the bass on Ebay and Reverb but at a higher price due to commisson if you prefer to purchase it that way.

If I remember right, the honorable John East uses very modern opamps that consume very little energy (try an old Alembic that needs a power plant beside it). I don't believe in rechargeable batteries in my basses. They are much older (1986-1999) than your preamp. I usually change batteries once a year. Strings twice a year. The issues with battery consumption sound like there's some wire in a wrong place, or some part is touching conductive paint. OD/dist/fuzz family of effects behave and sound different depending on the output Z (impedance). Connect the pedals straight to the bass and look after sound changes while changing from hi-Z to lo-Z from the tone switch. Bass I would set to boost only. There has never been any need to cut it, and then the pot adjustments would be more accurate because of a longer track. (I prefer vol and blend to VV. This is highly subjective.) Freq wheels need the band around you. Then you can get a good idea of the adjustments in real context. The same applies to changing caps.

I almost forgot the Belgian master of the B3, André Brasseur who was a star during the 70's, but made an unexpected comeback close to 10 years ago thanks to some youngsters loving his music. Saw him live for that tour and it was really funky: On Spotify, you'll only find a single with these youngsters and all his original 70's hits that you've certainly heard.

What 1" compression tweeter and crossover unit should I put in my cab?
stevie replied to Dev R's topic in Amps and Cabs
It looks like you've got a 120-litre box, which is twice the size you need. This will drastically reduce the power handling of the drivers. My software puts the tuning frequency at 39Hz. So, your two 300W drivers will handle about 20 watts at 40Hz. Time to get the saw out again, methinks.😀
