  5. No. They still won't pay out even if their own additional insurance is purchased. The guys on thefretboard seem to use Overland Express - they were set up by a guitarist who is a member over there. I've not needed to use them as I haven't sold anything bass sized for ages, but the f'boarders seem pleased.
  6. Oh we love it over here, it's standard practice to buy a house by a school and complain about the noise at playtime, buy a house next to a main road then start a campaign to stop it being used by lorries. The most common one is to buy a house with little or no parking and then leave notes on legally parked cars asking them not to park outside in "their space".
  7. This is true, pirate's facilities could probably stand to be staffed better, or at all, but they do at least have luxurious amenities like fire escapes and up-to-code wiring. That's more than can be said for a lot of studios in London.
  8. That's lovely! There's not enough green basses around.
  9. I am thinning the bass herd to fund some bass building workshop machinery so selling my Ibanez SR1000EFM Prestige 2005. An upgraded, gig-ready beast loaded with Aguilar pickups, a John East Uni-Pre 3-band preamp, and Lumilay side dots that glow in the dark — perfect for low-light gigs and studio sessions. This isn’t your average Ibanez — it’s a boutique-level tone machine with the playability and feel you’d expect from a Prestige model. It was made during the time that the top of the range prestige line were being made in Korea. It’s been freshly strung with new Elixir Nanoweb strings, so it’s ready to go straight out the case. Specs & Upgrades: Neck-thru construction with Ibanez SR thin and fast neck Aguilar pickups – warm, articulate, and punchy East Uni Preamp – crystal-clear EQ, lots of tonal control Lumilay side dots – visible in the dark, super useful live Schaller strap lock buttons Original Ibanez hard case – included New Elixir strings – smooth, long-lasting tone Couple of small dings – purely cosmetic, the mark on the side of the body was a gouge that was repaired and refinished. shown in photos Setup recently done by Selborne Guitars – plays fast and clean This bass is ideal for players who want modern tone, top-tier upgrades, and a slick professional look without going full custom-shop prices. More pics available on request. Collection only from Fleet, Hampshire Try before you buy welcome Drop me a message if you’re interested or have questions!
  10. Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!
  11. OUCH !!! that's approx £650 over here. How long ago was that ya numpty. (Can i call you that without offending ?) 😂 Dave
  12. I might be being daft here (or blind) but aren’t the yellow, green (pair one), brown & white (pair two) as shown in the diagram? The black wire in the diagram is your (surround) earth. Edit: hang on, I see what you’re saying now, the actual colours of the pickup don’t match the box description and diagram 🤦🏻 (sorry, I’ve been slow here). If that’s the case, you probably need to contact the supplier/manufacturer.
  13. Three grey acoustic foam tiles available, size 50cm x 50cm x 4.5cm. Collection only from London W4
  14. Apparently there’s not enough clearance under the encoder to use one of these. I asked Andras.
  15. Seas of Cheese - Primus
  16. I'm doing one myself at the moment with a "holoflake" finish. It's much much more subtle than a glitter or sparkle or anything like that. Just matt black underneath and then it's black but shines different colours in the light. You can get a decent result from a rattle can as well
  17. thanks for all the comments guys… I went and saw a local luthier today - Carl Munson at Munson Guitars who is ten minutes down the road from me and with me stripping the current finish, he is going to do a very competitive refinish for me. He was keen to do a natural finish (gloss nitro finish) and I do like the idea, but it all depends on what I find underneath the paint. he also showed me about a ‘dirty stain’ natural finish - staining the wood with a dark stain then sanding back to make it pop a bit more as a natural finish. I would be worried about it being too light and boring so anything to bring the grain out a bit more can’t be a bad thing. Will be stripping it towards the end of August so will update and make a build thread so anyone interested. thanks!

  19. The use of one of those mini plastic green houses has been mentioned as a spray booth. Mate had one in my garage for painting bike tanks and side panels etc.
