Yeah that's true actually, I suppose unless I used a really long attack. I think I'll spend some time today playing with the gate/compressor settings on the MXR.

I love how practically everything on the label has been replaced

AJC08 started following Lakland DJ5 Premp - Advice Please
-
Hi guys This year I have acquired a Lakland DJ 5 which I absolutely love! Out of a great deal of gear I have owned and used this is absolutely one of the best all around basses I've had so top marks to Lakland. I do however want to add a preamp of some sort. I've tried over a period of months to contact East for their specific one and had no response via email or on here. I hope everything is ok on their end but this is very frustrating. The preamp must ideally have bass, treble and a passive bypass. Don't mind stacked or anything along those lines. Ideally I'd have a passive tone control as well as I use that a hell of a lot. I just do not know where on earth to turn. It also needs to be easily available in the UK too as I cant be dealing with shipping from the US. Literally any advice on where to turn would be a huge help! Thanks as always Aj

Excellent condition (pedal almost ‘as new’, box is a little more beaten) MXR Studio Comp. This is famously EXACTLY the same circuit as the MXR Bass Comp, but with a different enclosure. MXR did this to sell it more effectively to the guitar market. To be fair, I think it looks smarter than the Bass Comp. This is MXR’s take on an 1176 comp I believe. Not much else to say, solid pedal, nice transparent sound, effective compression. Cool. £120 inc UK postage. No trades unless you have a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white (+money your way of course 😅). Cheers Si

EmmettC started following New MXR bass synth pedal released

Decided to just dive straight in and use it on my wedding gig, I'm just home and it was a huge success (as in no one else noticed). I took the C4 off and but the MXR on. I had to make a sound for I Wanna Dance With Somebody, but it was really intuitive, and even though it took 5 minutes, I think I liked it more than the C4 patch that took hours. I also made a sound for Blinding Lights, again a 5 minute job, this wasn't as good as the C4 sound I got from the Source Audio site, but it was still very passable, and I think I can improve on it with a little bit of time. I used the synthadelic IMA patch (based on Flashlight by Parliament) for a couple of things - mostly for my own amusement and used the "live setting" to entertain myself during We Got the Love. I'm very pleased, though I was also happy with the C4, the biggest gain is how easy it is to adjust on a gig and how intuitive it is to use.

Not just the soldering, it looks like there are stray wisps of copper too. I'd desolder each joint, cut off the end of the wire and re-strip the insulation with not too much wire exposed, make sure all the cores are together and resolder it.
-
I've only seen bits on You Tube, but it's a good set. It will be interesting to see what changes (if any) take place over the dates of the tour.

I have actually put Dyno labels with "Tx" and "Rx" onto them. However, this requires that the user actually looks at them prior to plugging them back in rather than thinking they remember which is which after unplugging them. And colour coding them would mean having to remember which colour means what, and that's not going to happen.

Reading the manual, you can have TRS stereo from the output socket alone or left channel from the output socket and right channel from the CTR socket, both presumably TRS for balanced output.

Just back after seeing the magnificent ‘King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys’ at The East Riding Theatre in Beverley. A superb 6 piece band playing swinging R’n’B, they’ve been on the go for many years and it shows in their tightness with one of the best rhythm sections I’ve seen. Drummer Gary Barber is just so good, along with an excellent double bassist and a guitar player with a great authentic sound. Some ace tunes by Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Jackie Wilson and Louis Prima amongst others, and an original song or two as well. One of those gigs where it’s nigh on perfect really, and a fun evening had by all concerned. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

I got mine, put it straight on my board. Used it in rehearsal for a laugh and the presets were great and the pedal really responded well with my active spector. Actually used it tonight on my gig, shoehorned it in! Sounded fat. Everyone has commented on how great it sounds! Haven't had a chance to actually play with it, instead just using the presets but I'm sure tweaking the settings will get it suited to your bass.

I'll take any instrument I own to a gig, as that's what I bought them for. I don't let people get near them unless I know them, and not always then. I will fend off people saying 'Can I have a go?' as a matter of course.

I just had a run through my practice tracks. Didn't have to stop for a rest and had great fun. It plays fine. I must record the bridge pickup and post it here, well, I'll do a demo of both, no worries.
