  1. Past hour
  2. There's a real sense that cancel culture has evolved into capitalise culture
  3. Right. I think I've figured out what these are now. The base instruments were by BaCH in the Czech Republic. Ox Bird is a luthier from Poland who specialises in customising basses.
  4. My new GR Bass Dual head has a footswitch that uses an ethernet cable. My experience of these cables is they likely aren't very suitable for lying on a stage floor; they're won't lose their coil or lie flat, and will stay a trip hazard as a result. Anyone know of any ethernet cables that are more like a guitar lead, so suitable for life on the floor of a stage? Or maybe I should invest in something like this instead?
  5. There's truth in @BabyBlueSound point re opening people's eyes to the fact that fakery is wrong, but the almost hysterical and fever-pitched responses from what is starting to feel like a baying mob are unedifying and I suspect in many cases are at least a little hypocritical. OK, the guy's a con artist, he's not the first in music and he won't be the last. Jeez imagine if the internet had been around when these guys were doing their thing......
  6. Hey, Dad! How are you doing?
  7. I just find the while 'outrage loop' phenomenon fascinating.
  8. I have one of these in my living room. It's what got me into the 'Orange sound'. Surprisingly good for guitar too.
  9. Yes, my 1980s Squier JV Jazz, which is a similar vintage to the OP's Fender, and a copy of a 60s bass, is wired the same. I reckon Leo figured it wouldn't matter with the giant ashtray over the top hiding it. EDIT - mine is the same size and look as Clarky's original example, not as wide and shiny as the OPs.
  10. Good. If the kids can't figure out the obviously fake, this is what is needed to open at least some eyes. I'm happy to give them my views and likes.
  11. Aaahh, I commissioned this bass and its twin brother way back from Heath, responsible for the ‘thumb rest’ design and the dot markers, It is/was an absolute dream to play. Here’s the two.
  12. I've had these a while, using them in various amps with valve preamp stages, but my move away from such amps means they are now surplus: Mullard ECC83 - code B6B3 means made in Blackburn, third week of February in either 1956, 1966 or 1976 = £50 Mullard ECC83 - (code backward3)91 means made in Chelmsford for Mullard by Marconi, but not sure how to date the rest = £50 Mullard ECC81 - no code that I can see = £25 Caveat Emptor: I have tested them in my Demeter amp and they are all working fine at time of writing, but as always with old valves be aware they can fail at any time. Please do bear that in mind before you buy.

  13. Think this looks fab, unfortunately out of my range right now so have a bump on me
  14. My advice is to get out there in the real world. Open-mics, jam nights, local gigs. Talk to strangers. Offer your services to solo performers. Let people know that you’re looking for a band opportunity. Good luck!
  15. Cheers all! Stupidly forgot to update my ad, as I’ve got one being posted out to me today. GLWTS
  16. Recently discovered this band - sadly already defunct.
  17. Now £55 posted, but I won't be dropping any further.
  18. Today
  19. I will let Melvyn (Lockyer- the bass player) know of your review. It will be appreciated.
  20. Sofa so good with this thread...
  21. Midnight Acne Oasis - Brand New Heavies
  22. Have you watched "Mr Robot"?
  23. Reading all this is an interesting exercise in how social media feeds off itself. Okay the guy did wrong and got caught, but in doing so he seems to have provided enough material to launch a thousand reaction/ commentry clips by other creators. It's an ill wind and all that...
  24. It looks like 6 kgs?
  25. I just flew from Istanbul to Houston to get a birth year Rickenbacker. I tell myself I did it to see family but that’s a lie.
  26. I haven't gone any major distances myself - no more than a couple of hundred miles one way - BUT when I resided in the U.S. I had a buyer who flew from Texas to Pennsylvania (1600 miles +) to pick up a fairly rare bass that I was selling and had zero intent of shipping under under any circumstances...
