  1. I bought this Fender Jazz bass new in 1980 and have cherished it ever since. I've seen conflicting info re the serial number and the build year - built in either 1978 or 1980 it seems! Largely unplayed in the past 10 years, other than, 'noodling in the lounge at home', it has been on display in my house but the time has come to sadly part with it. Some background on the bass: it has a maple body and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. In the mid 1980's, I had the body stripped and refinished in chestnut with a satin varnish. I had all the scratchplate, bridge and pickup covers removed to give a cleaner look to the bass. I also had a Badass bridge fitted and Schecter chrome knobs. The headstock was also refinished to match the body and to remove a cigarette burn! You can just see the join on the back of the neck behind the nut in the photos. The neck is in the original gloss varnish. The original knobs, bridge/pick-up covers and scratch plate are included should you want to re-fit them although the scratch plate is unusable (see photos). Fender hard case included - in good condition though with some scuffs and scrapes in the vinyl and the centre catch is missing - see photos. The bass is in excellent condition just usage marks in the varnish with minimal fretware - I have [attachment=223368:IMG_0816.jpg]never played it wearing a belt, so the back is clean though it does have one light scratch in the varnish. There is a small mark in the rear of the neck around the 12th fret - just visible in the photo. A cherished beautiful example of this classic bass just about to become a vintage age. It needs to be played not just looked at to be fully appreciated. Sorry no trades - thanks. Viewing/collection from Northampton. Any questions please ping me a mail.
  2. I've been following you all for a while and enjoying it but have only just joined. Started playing at 16 (I'm now 50+) - playing on and off through the years - as time and commitments allow but, as a friend put it bluntly to me the other month - I've stopped being a bass player and am now just a bass owner.... Even that's not for long, as I'm selling my 1980 Fender Jazz - it's for sale on the site. Need to think about what's next.... In the meantime I'll keep on reading your posts and dreaming...
