How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Muzz replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
My current drummer (who is very good) calls it 'The Bluetooth's linked' when he plays with the right bassist... 🙂 -
Many luthiers are doing the same, simply closing their business when they have reached their retirement age.

Probably this, but with Thomann's buying power, in the music industry, they should be able to require the weight of the bass be included on the final check list.

I always used Fender hard cases until I switched to gig bags, so have never owned or used a Hiscox case, but it is always very sad news when companies supporting musicians stop trading.

Using column PA speakers as stage monitors?
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in PA set up and use
That's a nice story, we were thinking along the same lines 'We've got two PAs, two's gotta be better than one, but how do we do it' -
Using column PA speakers as stage monitors?
Bill Fitzmaurice replied to Beedster's topic in PA set up and use
Thanks. BTW, the columns I used were Shure Vocal Masters. They were too tall to work well as monitors, which I fixed by cutting them in half. That gave us four of them, so there were no dead spots on the stage. This was 1973-74, when monitors were still almost unheard of, so we were quite pleased to have them. I'm not saying I invented them by any means, but I'd never seen monitors used in clubs prior to that. They came about because the band had the Shures when I joined, while I brought along the JBL 4550 copies that I had built, so it was either figure out a use for the Shures or leave them in the van. -

So funny, Adam and the Ants very well observed, especially the stick work and the B&W aisle walk on the security camera, but I think it was - I assume - Sigue Sigue Sputnik walking around the corner with a shopping trolley that took the biscuit.....

Shergold Marathon 6 only around 100 made originally - most owned by Peter Hook 😉. I’ve had four over the years and had an Eastwood version which I sent back as it was really heavy compared to my original one.

Cheapest bass I can see on DH gate was $207 with delivery, assuming that covers any import taxes its about £150. Theres about 4 basses on FB market place for that or cheaper from as far away as Musselburgh. They wont look like a Duff bass though but you will get a chance to try them before you buy. It will be harder to get a bass you think is cool though, depend if you want to take a punt I suppose. Jonny

I never knew about that back off the volume thing - that's really cool. I don't think it will work with my EMG loaded J though! The tone stays as is when the volume is reduced.

ash started following Hiscox Cases calling it a day

It’s sad news, I commented on a Facebook post about them. I still have a few of their cases including one of the older rounder ones. It’s a shame that so many once thriving small companies are having to make these decisions.

I believe that the body will require routing to accommodate the new Dingwall 'minimalist' bridge. I fitted the early Payson bridge to a NG3, which didn't entirely cover the earth wire rout. A grommet was supplied to fill the gap which was just about acceptable. As mentioned above, the current Payson bridges do not have this issue.

Anyone have the Supergrass article from Bass Player?
umcoo replied to umcoo's topic in General Discussion
He was using his old Ibanez Blazer through a Hiwatt stack 😀 I saw them in 2020 too and he was using the Blazer and a sunburst 70's Fender P. -
Yeah, I actually found that out many years ago while playing about one day, add some labella LTFs and it’s the perfect reggae sound

Thanks Bill, if it’s good enough for you it’s certainly good enough for us 👍
