  2. My gig tonight didn't involve me playing at all... However, I brought my PA and did sound and lights for a charity gig for our local LegClub (don't laugh, you might need 'em one day) by ex Jethro Tull keys Dee Palmer and Labour peer Stewart Wood, with support by a local Dobro and Beefheart Enthusiast... And due to rain and tiny gazebo (twas outside), didn't even get gear out of car till 1730, punters due to arrive at 1800. So no chance to set any levels, and all key sounds being completely different volumes meant lots of speculative fader-riding (had to put mixer behind the stage!). However, all sounded excellent, loads of Tull songs done and crowd happy, plus nearly £1000 raised.
  3. Cheers Shaggy, I think so too, the new bridge makes all the difference and the single truss rod with dual action once set it does not move incredible , so easy to set a Rick up now. this one plays like a dream with the flat profile neck so thin compared to any other Rick I have had over 40 of them, it is perfect has the growl, the feel, and looks not too shabby either, only selling due to ill health, will hate putting my Spector up.
  4. That wood looks so good, do you think it could be without a pickguard? The screw holes do not look good on that mahogany body top.
  5. Hi. I’m thinking of selling my Korean Squire pbass. It dates back to 2010. I did buy it here a few years ago. I’ve no idea what the value is can you help ? I think it’s a VM as it has Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders, Schaller Machine heads and a Kiagon loom which I think might be after market ? Thanks
  6. Tonight BBC2, 10.50pm, Radio 2 in the Park, Def Leppard.
  7. I have a pair of new old stock FaitalPRO 12PR320 12" drivers sitting here doing nowt. This is the driver used in the Basschat 1x12” cab design (Mk1 I believe). I was going to build a 2x12 cab using these but then a lovely Vanderkley 2x12 came up local to me so the project has been shelved. I also have a complete set of good quality plywood panels to construct the 2x12 available to go with them but due to the weight, the plywood will be collection only. So £250 collected, or buyer to pay postage on the drivers. Plywood available as a package deal with the drivers for an additional £50 but collection only.

  8. ...my well considered choice. I tried online banking once and it didn't suit me. I don't agree to the Ts&Cs. I helped to develop home shopping with one of Tesco's risk sharing partners. This was pre-iPad using wireless Fujitsu Team Pads. We employed ethical hackers so I'm not ignorant by any means. I got through lockdown with no online transactions whatsoever. I don't feel restricted in the slightest. Internet dependency is something I just will not buy into. I had 'nuff trouble giving up smoking. And another thing! (heeheehee) - It worries me somewhat that all landlines are being dropped in favour of VOIP. Eggs, one basket, whoops... oh dear. Basschat is my window into social media and that's as far as that goes. I prefer wetware to hardware and software most days anyway. I love a good old rant, me.

  12. I got rota'ed out of remembrance Sunday because I wanted to come to this!
  13. Mad weekend with the live tribute show, but on Friday I met up with my webcast friends Mike Brooks and Jaymi (the Pink Bassman) who was over from the USA, and had a nice curry evening with Toby from JayDee in Birmingham. Saturday was a looong four hour trip to Gorleston Pavillion Theatre near Gt.Yarmouth for an Everlys & Friends Live Tribute Show gig. Absolutely packed house and a fantastic evening, followed by getting home at 2.30am. Crawled out of bed on Sunday morning after far too few hours of sleep and drove to Leeds to play an afternoon matinee show at Yeadon Town Hall Theatre. I was planning to meet up with Mike and Jaymi again this evening after the Nick Smith Memorial in Peterborough, but unfortunately didn't get out of Yeadon until nearly 5.30 and Mike got a short notice gig. I will sleep well tonight! Gig art: American Performer Mustang under the stage lights behind the side tab curtains.
  14. Wow that's restrictive - I get most things online and rarely have a problem - indeed that's where all my Trace Elliot finds come from! The chap who 3D prints the ports is active on the facebook trace elliot group which was where the idea for someone with the ability to print them came from. He also does the red and green caps for the gain and volume pots which I have got from him before. The 1818 is the normal single 18" speaker (plus two tuning ports), whereas the 1818x denotes "special application" and was a Mark V and before thing - there was a discussion about them a few months back on the following (the thread itself is 15 years old but someone nercro-bumped!):
  15. Playing in Newquay at Project 83 in a couple of weeks with our friends, Tüsk. Promises to be a fun night and free entry!
  16. Thanks Dave, yes I was very privileged to have acquired it a while back off of rumblefish on here, mr robin vick . Enjoying the lighter gauge strings on it too .

Quick test of this Jule Monique NAM I found in Tone3000. Channeling my inner Sean Hurley lol. No experience of the real thing, my benchmark as I tweak this is from Jo Choui’s demos in youtube. Wish I had the money to own one. Added a light drive from the VMT for some subtle saturation. I’m liking this setup than the Gentle(Noble) block I usually use. Let me know what you think! NAM Capture by gtirard: https://www.tone3000.com/tones/jule-amps-monique-31287 Bass used is a Dingwall SP1 with La Bella Low Tension Flats
  18. YouCut_20250907_210237914.mp4 Sorry, I seem to have turned this poster into a video without animation! Anyways, we're playing our first Southampton gig next Sunday for the Music In The City festival. Loads of artists playing across the city over 2 days including the Sunday when Saints play Pompey at St Mary's...luckily we're under St Michael's church when we play 👍🏻 Looking forward to this one, haven't played in Southampton for over 10 years, my old band used to play all those lovely venues around the city that liked original music...those were the days eh? 😄
  19. Today
  20. Probably, this one I'd think. Still safe and sound.
  21. Not last night, but Friday night, played a rare live outing with The Inevitable Teaspoons at Krakatoa in Aberdeen. We played last ("headlining") and were treated to some fine acts first - Kaleidoscope and then Autohuman. No pics, it was a bit of a rushed changeover because as usual things ran on a bit. We played pretty well and went down favourably, heard someone describe us as "entertaining", and was speaking to the guitarist from Autohuman after and he was keen to do gigs with us again. It wasn't super busy, but there was an enthusiastic gathering of about 20 folk up front and probably 10-20 more skulking at the back, so eh, as long as it wasn't empty! Gear was the Greco LGB-700 three pickup bass into my pedalboard then out into Krakatoa's FOH, using a Markbass Little Mark Black Line 250W into an Ampeg fridge for monitoring. Because why not?
  22. ...and there's a guy works down the chip shop, swears he's Elvis... I don't do online purchases and I seldom look at eBay or Gumtree other than to add to my knowledge of what's out there. There are people on BC who could do (and have done) 3D prints for me if I supply the detailed spec or an original part for scanning. The 1818x that you referred to has a ten inch driver. Mine has just the 18inch cone with two front facing reflex ports. I was told it was an 1818. I must check the data plate at some point but it's too heavy for me to be arsed moving it.
  23. Sadly I am out for this one. It's Rememberance Sunday. I'm in the band for the church service and we're playing one of my songs to close. Hope the venue survives the LF onslaught!
  24. We're gonna need a bigger venue reinforced floor!
  25. Love that bass of yours. Dave
  26. The wenge neck has arrived. I already rolled the fretboard edges and sanded the back of the neck. The frets have been levelled and dressed. It is going to have a cream pickguard, chrome USA Hipshot Ultralites (courtesy of Lozz selling some on here) , chrome GOTOH bridge, Schaller strap lock buttons, Tone Emporium TE18 pickups and Bloodstone Guitar Works P bass electronics with .047uF cap. It will be strung with D’adaddario .45 - .105 EXL If you fancy buying this bass, get in touch, it is going to be around £700-750 mark
  27. Someone asked me on the thread below about seeing some of the Trace Elliot cabs I've been collecting and fixing. I'd be happy to see how much I can squeeze in the car, although if there are thoughts of a cab comparisons I could probably bring a 1x15, 1x18, 2x10 and 4x10, and maybe also the classic 2x10 + 2x5 cab favoured by Mark King, albeit space may prevent this!
