  6. I have one of these, it's a really unusual and useful bit of kit. The HPF does the usual thing of progressively filtering out unwanted low frequencies, very useful but can sometimes leave the bottom end feeling a little lacking. By adding in a little resonance you can not only tighten up the bottom end up but also retain some real low end punch. The mid speaks for itself, really handy to have, particularly if you have a bass with 2-band eq (or passive). The LPF does the reverse of the HPF, and in combination can emulate a cab sim. By itself it's useful for filtering out unwanted clacky high end or tuning in a vintage vibe. But with the added resonance control, it effectively works like an Alembic filter preamp (or ACG/East, Lusithand etc). By adding a bump at the cutoff frequency you can tune in a vast array of sounds from any pickup. A clever little box of tricks.
  7. @mikebass456 can add me to that disorderly queue. In the meantime, I'd better post a white bass... here's my 25 year old Mexican Fretless.
  8. There's not an appropriate reaction icon for that. Wanna give you a hug, truth be told. Best of luck, mate.

  11. Ive only just became aware of this (and spent 30 mins sobbing afterward) a few members im close too will know that after 22 years of marriage my wife asked for a divorce. At the risk of oversharing. For many years ive struggled with (for a long time undiagnosed) carpal tunnel in both wrists, which at times has hampered my playing. This is on the mend, but among other things has taken a toll. Im devastated, but ive done a lot of thinking and looking back, it cant go on Ive been harming myself mentally, and suppressed anger and frustration and sadness until it warped me into something im not, and caused her to fall out of love with me ive numbed the pain with Alcohol which has affected my physical health. She knew what was happening to me, but dealt with it by keeping busy with other things and remained focused on creating a life for herself that didnt include me, in time we were more roommates than a husband and wife. So sad, we had a beautiful relationship, and it withered and died and we both let it happen! heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking Ill always love her,she was my best friend, soulmate and the love of my life. Right now im still full of anger and resentment and need to try and let it all go and forgive, because ive tortured myself and her for years If this looks at all familiar i beg you COMMUNICATE, share your feelings and find the person you love. Im not courting sympathy or even attention, but please hug your partner and love them fiercely and with all of your heart. Ive been a nember of this forum since 2007 and it has been part of my everyday life in all that time. Ive made friends for life and brothers id never had, and many many times been a small light in my darkness. I cant thank you all enough for this, im very moved and grateful to have so many wonderful people in my lif Im going to move out and get a flat with the shirt on my back and a couple of basses, at 51 my life parallels when i left Newcastle at 19 Im on the cusp of a new start My focus will be on healing myself phyisically and mentally, i plan to throw myself into the thing thats always defined me , Music!! Time to forgive and heal

  14. I always found the staff at PMT Norwich very helpful and honest. Like others have said, they didn’t have a huge amount for experienced bassists: they mostly stocked instruments for teenagers starting their musical journey. It was slightly different for guitarists who were presented with a massive array of electrics (not so much acoustics) but a lot of that tended to be the same limited range of Fenders but in every colour under the sun. However, if you wanted to try something available from their online stock (very comprehensive) they would get it in for you very quickly and there was absolutely no pressure to buy. I did note that the selection of stock changed significantly as a result of Covid. Before lockdown they had a whole room dedicated to acoustic guitars with a good selection of Martins, Taylor’s, etc. They also had a similar stock of basses but after lockdown, the acoustic section dwindled to just a few cheaper brands, ditto the basses. The electronic music section took over a lot of that space, complimented by PA gear: a lot of overpriced Bose gear, etc. I feel very sorry for the staff who have lost their jobs. They were mostly local musicians who needed the work to support their musical endeavours. I doubt the one remaining (private) music store in town has the capacity to give them work.
  15. Wow, it wasn't until scrolling halfway through your post until I noticed the finish is transparent! That's a gorgeous colour, looks fantastic. I love the mix of old and modern features and looks. The aged white pickup covers are distinctly 1980s, the stacked knobs are 1960, but the contoured heel and flatter fingerboard radius are very modern. Very cool!
  16. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. I bought this immediately prior to taking a year out from playing so it's never seen a gig since I bought it and still has whatever flatwounds were on it when I bought it. I had one of these bass in the early 90s and fancied another. Plus it was a cheap way to remind myself that I'm not very good on fretless and to stop eyeing up other fretless basses on the marketplace 😂 It has marks here and there consistent with a 34 year old bass and the volume and tone controls are a bit scratchy but I never noticed any noise when playing, only if you let a note ring out and then turn those controls. I will be supplying a gig bag with this as it didn't come with one. Looking at all of the other basses I'm listing it looks like I must have bought a job lot of Thomann gig bags as they appear next to each bass 🤔😁 I think that this is the lightest bass I have coming up for sale at a positively featherweight 7.8lbs. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  17. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. Bought brand new earlier this year I think 🤔 this is a 2023 Fender Player Precision, going by the serial number, in Seafoam Green with Pau Ferro fretboard. I fancied a set of Bartolinis after watching a video with Freddie Washington so went the whole hog and paired them with a Six String Supplies prewired solderless harness. I wanted to have the option to return the bass to stock if needs be so I removed the original scratchplate with the pots still intact, even going as far as to remove the bridge to allow me to thread the earth wire through without having to desolder it. This is a replacement scratchplate that I bought for it. I don’t actually think it has left the house since I bought it and as such is in mint condition. Although it’s not one I’ve gigged, I am going to miss it. It’s such a stunning looking bass. Some of the pictures show it with Hipshot Ultralites but I have since removed them for another bass. I have refitted the original tuners, still with the original cellophane covers and hangtags fitted The weight of this lovely bass is 8.2lbs. I have a couple of options depending on what the buyer wants: For the bass as you see it, along with the original pickups, scratchplate and a brand new gig bag I would like £600. £500 for the bass returned to stock, still including the brand new gig bag. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  18. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. I have always loved single coil P basses but I am never going to have the opportunity to play this live so I may as well let it go to a good home. Used for 1 gig in 2023, it's pretty much in mint condition, right down to the fact that the plastic is still on the scratchplate. It also comes fitted with a set of Ernie Ball 2810 flats that I had already bought for a 5 string. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  20. This is one of these basses that I said I would never sell but I'm just not using it. I used Musicman basses for years but in the past 5 or 6 I've seem to have completely switched over to jazz basses. This is quite an unusual combination of HH pickups, matching headstock, plus it seems to have come with a case for a Stingray instead of a Sterling one 🤔 I always loved Stingrays but could never get the sound that I had heard on all of those records. The answer to this was to buy the slightly more aggressive Sterling with ceramic pickups. This is a November 2016 model and I've probably owned it for about the past 6 or 7 years. Recently it developed a fault where it would suddenly go quiet. No crackles or pops or anything, just silence. It pointed to either the jack socket or battery box, more likely the battery box. Despite using the recommended Duracell batteries, I don't think that it was holding the battery tight enough to make the connection. The solution was to go to Strings & Things and order a replacement jack and battery box. During my search for the part number for the jack, I came across numerous reports about how it wasn't ideal and could fail due to the design. I found a wiring diagram that had been issued by Musicman showing how to wire up a standard stereo jack instead of the enclosed type that Musicman use. The short version is that I have replaced the battery box with the correct, EBMM part but I have used a stereo jack instead of the Musicman one ( I will include the musicman one that I bought and is still in it's package if you wish to change it back ) It's in excellent condition, bar some surface buckle rash on the back that I think should be able to polish out as I can't feel it when I run my hands over it. There is a bit of surface tarnishing on the pickup poles that is pretty standard for Musicman basses. Despite the smaller body and narrower neck, the bass comes in at a surprising 10lbs. I've used this on a fair few weddings and functions and hadn't realised that this was how heavy it was as I always use a neoprene strap of some description. I wasn't sure how to price this but given that I don't think the Sterling is made anymore, the matching headstock and HH pickup configuration, I would like £1600 for this. I am, as always, open to offers. I would prefer collection but am happy for you to arrange your own courier.

  21. ❤️ It’s a great pic! Cris’ playing is spot on, really adds a healthy dimension to the songs and lets Gab do the guitar god thing without worrying so much about how he’s orchestrating his parts around the sparser songs. And yes the B on this ACG is quite the thing*, in fact the whole bass is quite special. Proper good craftsmanship from @skelf *(I’ve said to Alan that it’s the best B I’ve ever had on a bass - it’s so well balanced with the rest of the strings and just seems to sing better than any I’ve had before. None of the others have been *bad*, they just haven’t been *this good* 🤓
  22. Withdrawing, my guitarist buddy convinced me to give this to him 😁
  23. Price drop! Now £2500 collection or meetup 😎
  24. I was wondering why the 2 were mentioned earlier, makes sense now
