  2. Oh that's disappointing.. was hoping for a scrap 🤛🏼
  3. Dropped to £80 each.
  4. No feathers ruffled whatsoever I feel the same way about flats. Luckily, we're all different.
  5. That's so sad Steve but understandable. All credit to you guys for keeping it going as long as is possible for him, but sometimes difficult decisions need to be made. As hard as it might be i think you've made the right decision for everyone. Dave
  6. So that Curly Claro Walnut headless Status KingBass with the MK-style ultra short strap, DI preamp pedal & the top shelf Inner Ear System we were going to buy you for Xmas would be unwelcome gifts, then?
  7. Back then the exchange rate was in the UK's favour - it was nearly $2 to £1, so it seemed very cheap. The weekend flight to New York to buy cheap stuff was a thing, where you'd save more than the cost of the plane ticket, but that's most definitely no longer the case. People in the UK don't believe me when I tell them about the US medical system - even with insurance, you have an excess ("deductible") you have to meet before they pay anything. After that, you're still having to pay co-pays - in our case, it's $40 for a GP visit, $75 for a specialist, and anything the doctor prescribes is subject to the insurance company approving it (there's a lot of "computer says no" going on). And there's 26m uninsured Americans, with a large number of the rest being under-insured. The stress of dealing with the medical "system" over here just makes sick people sicker. Yes, the NHS has its issues, but you'll never be panicking about paying bills or worrying about an insurance company's algorithm deciding you can't have a particular procedure or medication. Went to Austin a few years ago. Cool city, lots of music, good food, very geek-friendly, quite student-y. But you don't have to go far to be reminded that you're in Texas - all the shops with "no weapons allowed" signs, gigantic megachurches, insane weather (including hailstones the size of cricket balls), the unbelievable heat, and so on. Nice enough place to visit, but I certainly wouldn't ever want to live there. Especially with kids. Anyway, oh yeah, Bongos...
  8. Yep that's exactly my thoughts on it. Dave
  9. I've got another one that might ruffle a few feathers Roundwound strings... Put down yer 'big guitar' and get back to reality - flats are for bass .
  10. I’m in a similar situation today after packing it all in and then missing playing bass I jam once a month also rock covers and it’s a blast and less pressure, more like a social occasion ! We have said if we found a singer ( unlikely ) we could do a few gigs such as festivals or support but not the regular pub circuit where rock seems to have died on its feet !
  11. Hi Mate. Is Your Bass Still Up For Sale ???? . Do You Want To Exchange It For My Custom Bass ???? I Live In Manchester. Here's Some Pictures. Cheer's Colin.
  12. The green machine is all finished. It started as black and is now a gorgeous Emerald Green as you can’t get that colour in a shortscale left hander

    2 Starry Night Stingrays…….
  14. Oh forgot to mention yesterday, I also fitted the string retainer/tree. I really like this Sire/Reverend style 3 string retainer - super compact, at the cost of the D string being captive through the middle and not quick release. I'll take that for the compact, minimalist look though.
  15. Interesting. What were you finding the Octabvre was adding vs the OC5?
  16. Those Ultras are great bits of kit.
  17. I bought this off a good friend of mine and I've had it for a couple of years. It's a fatastic bass and comes with a lovely hard case. I can post in the UK insured for about 20 quid. 18. Hi, new member with an Ibanez parlor acoustic that has an unravelled A string that keeps slipping. Reading this excellent thread, I looked up the Daddario XTB3790GS and wow, they are expensive. I also looked up the gauge of the A string which is .062 and see that a heavy gauge acoustic guitar E string is the same. Gonna try that to safe some money. Any thing to worry about? The Daddarios seem to be a wrapped steel core as well. Please let me know if you get a chance. Thanks Ken

  20. I ordered a tenor ukulele from Aliexpress. Came with a gigbag and strap. When it arrived I had the gigbag and strap but no bloody ukulele! It cost me half of the original total to return it but I sucked it up just out of principle. As soon as I gave the tracking number I did get a refund immediately but not for the return shipping. Oh, and 7 months later my returned package of items arrived at my door for a second time. It had gone all the way to China and then back again! Maybe the return address was bogus? Never again.
  21. I ended up using a PC to contact them to start with. Whilst the contact button appeared on my phone and iPad it didn’t do anything. The contact took me to a ‘chat’ and a real person came on quite quickly. But although it suggested I was chatting with the vendor you could tell that it was an ‘Aliexpress’ person. I just said I hadn’t received what I thought I should and they raised a ‘return’ for me but I didn’t have to send anything back and I got emails about a refund that day and the money a couple of days later. There is a return/refund button so you can do it yourself. I just needed to upload a photo. I did this with the packaging in the shot as it was obviously too small to have the pedal in it. For you you have a product that is different to what you (thought you) bought. You can show a screenshot of what you bought. For me the description constantly showed ‘chocolate pedal AND wireless’. I did buy my KZ earbuds from Ali and that went fine. But although I got my money back pretty easily - the chat person said ‘so I can buy the right thing’ - I’m not enthused to buy anything else from there.

  23. I don’t actually think I NEED anything to be honest… half of our set is clean and the other half is synth/solo octave sound. I LOVE the rattler, but don’t really need a drive sound at the moment and the ultra wave can do a decent enough job should the need arise so feels like a waste of a spot. id always like to get more out of my clean tone, I love the idea of something more amp-like but I’ve yet to find anything that gets on with my synth patches and octave, even the AGS amp trick takes more than it gives… I appreciate the shout on the OC5 @Al Krow, but I’ve had one before and it didn’t come close to my octabvre. I’ve got a Taylor shift too but the octave isn’t working, Celeb pedals offered to repair under warranty but I find shipping to Turkey a bit daunting! I’m unfortunate in that my eyes hear digital and I struggle to move past it. The HX one is purely there for chorus and delay!
  24. Well since the above I’ve decided to leave both gigging bands, leaving me in just one band (classic rock covers, no singer) which doesn’t gig and had no intention of. Still playing and having a laugh, none of the stuff I no longer like.
  25. What exactly do you have in the box? It should come with obviously the bridge itself, 5x self tapping screws for the bridge mount, 2x spare shorter machine screws, and 2x spare shorter springs for E and A saddles in case you need the saddles further back, and spare saddle grooves of different sizes.
