  2. Tube is easy to mistype as tibe as U and I are next to each other. Tibe autocorrects to time.
  3. Her documentary is really interesting. I think from memory. she started out as a backing singer and has been ill with cancer. I think she is quite a talent.
  4. I've been reading the manual for the GP5 and it looks like it can do what I want, but I thought I'd double check just to be safe. If I put it in the song list mode (a-z) can I use the foot switch to cycle between 3 presets? Basic amp emulation, amp with -2 pitch shift, amp with +1 pitch shift, back to the beginning? And then I can long press to use the tuner? And it can do all of that whilst running on usb power?
  5. It doesn’t really matter that you can’t play much right now, you know what feels comfy and is aesthetically appealing. These 2 things are the most important for your first bass, you’ve got to want to pick it up and if it doesn’t appeal to your eye and feels ‘wrong’, you won’t play it and that defeats the point. Set your budget, go to a retailer, play a bunch of basses in your price range and go home with the one that feels and looks right. Will this be your forever bass? Unlikely, but you’ve got to start somewhere.
  6. Complete with an invisible amplifier. And yet 5 people have added it to their watchlist. Allegedly.
  7. It's just to make sure it fits... and so they can prevent anyone installing it in their BMW...
  8. The P2 has Stereo XLR and stereo Jack input. What are you connecting it to? I use a single XLR to 1/4 jack for my IEM's in stereo.
  9. Just got back from a gig where I used one of these, great sounding cab.
  10. I’d hadn’t had a duff bass string in 25 years or so, then I had 2 in fairly quick succession. Glad you got this sorted.
  11. Yamaha make great ‘starter basses’ and many here only use that brand. Nathan East seems to like his! If budget is not so much of an issue then ‘buying a brand’ is likely to be more saleable if you find you don’t like bass (it won’t happen ;-)) and want to move it on. Again, playing something is important. I’ve often ‘fancied’ a Ray but when I’ve had the opportunity to play one I’ve not liked it. I started on a Fender P then moved to an Ibanez with a Jazz neck as playing the P was like wrestling with a cricket bat. Several basses later I’m back on the P as I love the tone. But I’m lucky as I have the Ibanez and all the basses in between so I get to pick who comes out to play! Which will change on mood as much as what/where 😂. If there are any open mics near you it’s likely any bassists who attend will let you have a noodle. They are mostly approachable people. But you are going to get recommendations based on ‘how long is a piece of string’. Unfortunately…
  12. UPDATE: Fair play to the lads at Bass Direct, and La Bella. They sent me a replacement, and everything is now fine. I've never had that issue with a string before.
  13. I'm toying with the idea of buying one of these to use with my Ibanez EUB but I also have the Fishman Platinum Pro EQ on my list as well. Has anyone had both and can compare and point towards one over the other? The EBS is about £80 more expensive but if its better then I'm happy to spend the extra.
  14. The rubber gasket around the actual SpeakOn socket was the issue. It just moved the socket far enough away from the panel that the SpeakOn NL4 plug wouldn't work with the twist. The genuine NL2 Neutrik plug did work. Clearly I do not understand all the nuances around SpeakOn plugs and sockets but at least that problem has gone away. Sorry for the confusion. Rob
  15. Unfortunately you will need to have all the old flip paint removed and then find someone who can spray the whole instrument in a single pass, because that is what is needed to make the flip paint work. It can't be retouched because there's no guarantee that the retouched parts will flip in the same direction.

    Slowing down effect

In the interest of logging the journey, I have landed in Loopy Pro for the iPad. It is a full fat looper where everything is on a nice big screen with one function per visual element. As I was going to be using the slowing down function on loops anyway this puts everything in the same place. All for £30. Plus the cost of the iPad and interface obv. But I already own those. Coming soon to a stadium near you.
  18. I’m just pleased the bass has been found. I’m sure if Fender take umbrage re: the replica thing, they’ll let Mark know, and he’ll react accordingly: In the meantime… let people enjoy their nice basses, eh?
  19. I am a complete beginner so currently lack the ability to play a riff or three. You could upsell me to pick a Music Man StingRay Special £££ 😀
  20. Ah, thanks, well fingers crossed whichever courier deals doesn`t take it straight to Sotheby`s.
  21. @Lozz196 Unless something has changed - he won't get to see it. It will come directly to you from the UK distributor. When I ordered mine via him he didn't even get photos - I took some for him when it had arrived.
  22. Because most vinyl lovers are in denial. There are all sorts of technical issues that affect what can be cut to a master disc in the first place and then what will actually be playable on a typical system once the results have been stamped out of a pice of hot plastic. As much as vinyl lovers would like to tell themselves otherwise, the final stage of the manufacturing process is hardly one of precision and finesse. My current band are contemplating a vinyl version of our album (CDs still sell exceptionally well in our genre) and if we do it is likely to have a different running order to accommodate the limitations of the medium as well as having some the the more extreme stereo effects collapsed to mono in order for it to be capable of being cut. For me, any records I bought as a teenager simply don't sound right unless they are played on my old dansette that cost £8 from a junk shop in 1973 and played one side of the stereo mix much louder than the other. These are versions/mixes of those records I am used to and everything else sounds wrong no matter how superior the reproduction might be.
  23. Agree, I`ve a Sandberg Superlight being made at the moment, which Mark has arranged, when he receives it I`ll drive and collect rather than chance all this malarkey.
  24. Welcome! Buy all 4. You will end up with them all if you stick around here anyway 😂. But more seriously you prolly need to play one of each. Basses of the same brand/model will feel slightly differently so getting the one you ‘want to play cause it feels right’ is the most important thing. You can make it sound pretty much how you want it to with an amp / modelling pedal … Others will have other views of course…
  25. I gues the people that buy them want a vintage looking Fender but either can't afford one or can't find one in the colour they want. You could probably spend years looking for a genuine pre CBS Precision in Ice Blue for example and never find one for sale and even if you did a really rare custom colour vintage instrument would likely cost well into 5 figures. It's a lot quicker and cheaper to order a replica Having a different logo on the headstock would break the illusion. Wouldn't bother me at all but then I've never really gassed after vintage instruments.
  26. Just found one on eBay £80 ! ordered and will try it
